Martin Dempster at Genesis Scottish Open on Monday
Transcript
00:00Hello, it's Martin Debson, the Scotsman Golf Correspondent here, coming to you from a breezy
00:06Renaissance Club in East Lothian at the start of Genesis Scottish Open Week. The wind's blowing
00:15for sure, the sun's out though, and it sounds as though the weather is going to be good for this
00:23edition of the nine million Rolex series event. Another terrific field gathering here this week,
00:30we've got the top five in the world, eight of the top ten, and all four current major champions,
00:37Xander Shofley, the Open champion, Rory McIlroy, the Masters champion, Scotty Shekler, the PGA
00:44champion, and the most recent major winner, JJ Spohn, who pipped Bob McIntyre in last month's
00:52US Open at Oakmont. McIntyre, of course, is the defending champion. It was a day to remember
00:59when he holed a 23-foot birdie putt on the closing green here 12 months ago, having been pipped by
01:08McIlroy 12 months earlier. Six Scots in the field, with McIntyre being joined by Conor Sine, the recent
01:16KLM Open winner, Callum Hill, a winner on the DP World Tour as well earlier in the year, Ewan Ferguson,
01:24Grant Forrest and Richie Ramsey. Forrest and Ramsey, they got in on Sunday through Dan Brown, winning the
01:33BMW International Open in Munich. Forrest got into the field under his own steam, with Ramsey securing the
01:43last invitation, with the two other spots in that category, going to former winner Alex Norton and
01:51Brant Snedeker, who's going to be one of Keegan Bradley's vice-captains in the Ryder Cup at Beth
01:57Page Black in September. To keep up to date with everything about the Genesis Scottish Open, log on
