00:07Renaissance Club in East Lothian at the end of the 2025 Genesis Scottish Open. As you'll see
00:17it's a bit grey overhead now at the end of what was a sun-kissed week a har came in just towards
00:25the end of play didn't cause any real disruptions as had been feared. The winner a little-known
00:34American Chris Gotterup and not many people would have heard of him before this week but
00:42boy did the 25 year old produce a very impressive performance in this nine million Rolex series
00:50event. He'd moved into contention on the back of a nine on the past 61 in Friday's second round.
00:57It remained to be seen if he could handle such a big test. He was up against Rory McIlroy in the
01:06final group and McIlroy did his best to apply some pressure on the back nine however got her up. He
01:18had dropped a shot at the 15th having missed a chance at the previous hole and at that time
01:25it transpired that he had been given a slow play warning. Players don't like that of course. He
01:34said that he got his blood going. He described the decision as shocking but he duly birdied the 16th
01:41and in the end he claimed a two-shot success landing by far the biggest win of his career.
01:48McIlroy here to settle for second place on this occasion but the Northern Irishman said he was
01:55really happy with his week. His best performance since winning the Masters in April and he's going
02:01to be heading to Portrush for the 153rd Open next week with a spring in his step. Gotter up he secured
02:09the spot on that. He'll be making his debut in the Claret Jug event and with other two spots up for grabs
02:14here going to the Dane Nikolai Hojard and German Matty Schmidt who pipped England's Andy Sullivan by
02:22virtue of a higher world ranking. Grant Forrest finished as the top scot. He picked up the Jock McVicar
02:29AGW Memorial Trophy in the process. Defending champion Bob McIntyre described his week as horrific.
02:38Didn't feel he performed how he wanted. He's got some technical stuff to sort out but at the same time
02:46he's looking forward to being at Portrush describing that as his favourite links course in the world.
