00:00Hello, it's Martin Dempster, the Scotsman Golf Correspondent here, coming to you from Royal Portrush at the conclusion of the 153rd Open Championship.
00:14And the winner, as we had expected after the third round, was Scotty Scheffler, the world number one.
00:24Scheffler is the first player to claim the Claret Jug as the world number one since Tiger Woods.
00:32It's quite an incredible statistic.
00:35Scheffler has been the game's dominant player over the past two or three years.
00:40And the moment he hit the front here at the halfway stage, the others really were playing for second place.
00:50Four ahead at the start of the final round.
00:53He then stretched that advantage to eight at one point.
00:57A glimmer of hope for the chasing pack came when he took a double bogey six at the eighth.
01:02He left a shot in a bunker after catching the lip.
01:05However, in true Scheffler style, he reset, birdied the next hole and the door was quickly slammed shut.
01:15He eventually won by four shots from fellow American Harris English with Chris Gutterup, the man who won the Genesis Scottish Open seven days earlier, capping an incredible eight days as he finished in third place.
01:34Scotland's Bob McIntyre, he finished strongly picking up four shots over the closing stretch to finish joint seventh, which was just outside the top six that he had here in 2019 on his major debut.
01:52McIntyre, who finished runner-up in the US Open at Oakmont last month, finished alongside both Rory McIlroy and Xander Shoffley, the defending champion on this occasion.
02:07And based on the way he's playing in these majors, the open man certainly has a chance of knocking one off in the next two or three years.
