15 July- National weather forecast presented by Aidan McGivern
Transcript
00:00Hi there. Low pressure, unseasonably breezy with spells of rain.
00:05For some parts of the UK, Tuesday's weather will be very different compared with the weather we've often seen so far this summer.
00:13For north-western parts of the UK, we have had some wet and breezy weather at times.
00:17But the rain that's moving through the UK will, I suspect, be welcome rain for many southern and eastern parts,
00:24albeit not nearly enough to make up for the shortfall that we have seen through the year so far.
00:29And it's north-western parts that we'll actually see the wettest weather once again.
00:33North-west England, parts of Wales, the south-west of Scotland.
00:37Once the main band of rain pushes through north-east England and the Midlands,
00:40we'll see showers wrapped round the low, some thunderstorms for central, southern Scotland, northern Ireland, parts of Wales, for example.
00:47And a lot of cloud, unseasonably breezy with the brisk winds wrapped round the low to the south of the centre,
00:54affecting particularly western parts of Wales and the south-west.
00:58Now, the far south-east could see one or two showers later, but otherwise it's mostly dry and bright.
01:03And some brightness there for the north of Scotland, where we do get the rain and the wind elsewhere.
01:09However, it is going to feel much cooler compared with recent summer weather.
01:15And we continue to see those showers coming down across especially the central parts of the UK through the evening.
01:22Again, some heavy downpours, some rumbles of thunder.
01:24Many of the showers move away, though, overnight.
01:27We keep one or two.
01:29But for the vast majority, it turns drier, it turns clearer as well.
01:32And it's going to be a cooler night for sleeping compared with many of the nights we've seen so far this summer.
01:38But it turns cloudier once again towards the south-west of England.
01:41Outbreaks of rain turning up by dawn, that keeping things milder.
01:46And I think that it's towards the south-west where we'll see the cloudiest and dampest weather on Wednesday.
01:53The rain band doesn't move far through the day.
01:56Elsewhere, still a few showers for central and southern Scotland, northern and eastern England.
02:00But these peter out by the afternoon.
02:02And for many, it's a drier and sunnier day once again.
02:05And a warmer, more humid day, mid to possibly high 20s in the south-east.
02:11And we're going to see the cloud towards the south-west slowly filter into the south of Wales on Wednesday evening, bringing some spots of rain.
02:20Not much.
02:22Wet weather also returns to Northern Ireland at this stage.
02:25And this frontal system is associated with another low that turns up for Thursday.
02:31But this low is going to push to the north-west of the UK.
02:33And these weather fronts are going to linger across Western Scotland, Northern Ireland, north-west England.
02:38And again, that's where the wettest weather will be.
02:40Elsewhere, it's drier, it's sunnier and it's warmer once again.
02:44But by the weekend, low pressure ends up coming along and bringing widespread showers and breezy conditions up and down the country.
02:52So a marked change of the weather on the way for the next few days.
02:56And a real difference for many places compared with summer so far.
02:59Bye-bye.
