00:22million more are threatened with extinction but we are on a mission to try and change that that is a big
00:32drop off with your eyes forward mate this is going to be some ride entering the unknown our job to find
00:42and film some of the rarest animals on the planet i can't believe it show me and help scientists to
00:52save them that's the last one yeah is this beautiful before it's too late that is destroying
01:01the entire ecosystem look at that i'm dead and i specialize in getting cameras into places where
01:07no one else can oh that's pretty tight in it if a bear comes now i'm a goner
01:14i'm dna i connect to these animals through my camera lens i mean this is extraordinary
01:21it's looking straight at me and i'm aldo a former royal marines commando and team leader
01:30it's my job to keep v and a and deck safe you think this will take my way
01:39this might be my toughest challenge yet
01:44the radio check yeah i'll do good check
01:54out we're entering the land of the king of the jungle here the smell of it the trees i'm liking
02:06words to to describe what i'm looking at absolutely incredible i don't know about you guys yeah i like
02:14it yeah you like it do you like it yeah i'm gonna chuck you in the water
02:23we're in malaysia in the heart of southeast asia heading to one of the oldest rain forests on the planet
02:33taman negara
02:33we're searching for the world's rarest wild tiger the malayan tiger
02:42it's crazy to think that there's tigers roaming this forest at the moment it just looks like a
02:47blanket of pure green you know it's beautiful but the forest hides an ugly truth over the last century
02:55tiger numbers have crashed by over 90 percent on the last count they said there was no more than 150
03:05left that's heartbreaking out of the nine different tigers worldwide three are now extinct
03:14and a key threat is poaching criminals make thousands of dollars from a single animal
03:20and the malayan tiger could be next to go unless malaysia's army of over a thousand rangers can
03:30keep them safe what makes this forest so special is how well protected it is you see the ranger
03:37station up there these guys are the true heroes of this forest
03:42we need to find out if the ranger protection is working and whether the population is bouncing back
03:54to do that we've got to get these secretive cats on camera where we're heading now is one of the last
04:01remaining wildernesses it's thought there's been more people in space than have been up this river
04:07ahead of us is a two-day journey through 20 miles of thick jungle
04:16how are we gonna get up there that's a big fort yeah it's a big tree
04:23boys i think we might be getting out of here
04:28we're entering the unknown just be careful the flow is quite fast
04:32i've never had to travel like this man the fallen tree has created a narrow channel of treacherous
04:40fast-moving water
04:44come in hop just watch press it on press it on
04:48watch your feet guys there's a load of logs underneath
04:53without tigers at the top of the food chain this entire ecosystem is under threat
04:59we're going through one more one more boat but protecting them also preserves the jungle itself
05:07and thousands of species that live here good it's good that's it last boat
05:18good team effort man that's a good way to get into the forest
05:22oh i feel like swimming now yeah i can actually really have a day
05:30i'm glad there's no crocs in here
05:39but just when we think we can't get any wetter
05:43it's broken i've got a gaffer tape ah there we go you look like a retired commando
06:04this makes so much sense in the rain forest what do you expect
06:07it rains most days here but this is nothing compared to the monsoon that is due to arrive
06:15in just two weeks when this jungle becomes impassable for four solid months
06:22so we have to get in and out before that starts
06:28after eight hours on the water we're only halfway to our destination in the center of the park
06:35time to set up camp i am really tired but i still gotta spend some time making sure that
06:42my little comfort zone is gonna be nice for me to sleep in tonight so i've just got the old machete
06:48i'm gonna clear this area i've already been bitten by an ant on the ear i don't know how it got up on my ear
06:53but yeah it's all good in the jungle
07:09change the yellow bags out for black bag does that black bag get your right foot deck
07:13the food bag over there the river from here gets much narrower and much shallower so we need to decan
07:21all of our kit into these canadian canoes this is going to be some ride what's going to be interesting
07:28is when we get to the first set of rapids because these boats are heavy as soon as it catches a little
07:32bit of water then then we're sinking they don't really hear me we're good yeah yeah he thinks we're okay
07:42that's good
07:52holy it's getting rapidly now
07:59this feels so precarious
08:01this feels so good
08:0410 canoes
08:08a team of 30 people
08:11and all our filming equipment heading the wrong way up river rapids what could possibly go wrong
08:20that could be a disaster
08:41Yeah.
08:42Nice.
08:43You good?
08:44Yeah.
08:45Are you OK?
08:46That is drenched.
08:47Oh, this would be horrible.
08:49We have to hope the waterproof boxes do their job.
08:54I've got a peli case, but it looks dry.
08:58Is the engine all good?
08:59Is the engine flooded?
09:00I'm OK.
09:01I'm OK.
09:02I'm OK.
09:03I'm OK.
09:04I'm OK.
09:05I'm OK.
09:22This stretch of river is different from before.
09:26Even shallower.
09:29Even faster.
09:32But it's not far now.
09:39Here comes, everybody.
09:42After two days of battling up 20 miles of white water,
09:47we finally make it to our base camp.
09:52I mean, I literally can't get any wetter.
09:56But here we are.
09:57Look at this view.
09:59Look at that.
10:00That is absolutely stunning.
10:03We are camping out at the base of 1,000 feet of towering limestone.
10:11This huge rock is the heart of Taman Nagara.
10:15Well, I think this is one of the greatest natural wonders of the world, isn't it?
10:20Look at it.
10:21Look at it.
10:22I can't wait to see that when I'm not so damp, yeah.
10:26You know what, guys?
10:27The rain is a blessing.
10:29At least I won't have to shower tonight, eh?
10:32This untouched area is packed with unexplored caves and valleys.
10:39And it should be perfect tiger territory.
10:43But first, we have to find a safe place to set up camp.
10:47You know what?
10:48I'm not worried about tigers here, but I am slightly worried about elephants.
10:53As much as I would love to see an elephant, I wouldn't want to get too close to one, you know?
10:58They come through here.
10:59Oh, really?
11:00Yeah, there's a trail through the back there.
11:03Oh, wow.
11:04Do you want to swap places with me?
11:06But what do you do?
11:07Do we get out?
11:08We've got to get out, right?
11:09Yeah.
11:10Yeah, yeah.
11:11But strategically, not just running.
11:13Because when you run, you're asking for it.
11:15Yeah?
11:16Yeah, definitely.
11:17Should we do a test run tonight?
11:19Yeah, I would love to do one of those.
11:21You don't see Dec run about in his boxer shorts.
11:24That's if you're lucky, mate.
11:25I don't think I'm going to be sleeping in my boxer shorts, mate.
11:28It's too hot.
11:30So this one has been on me for a little while.
11:38That is a tiny leech, but I've got a secret weapon.
11:42When I'm on expedition, I bring fine Scottish single malt whiskey,
11:48purely medicinal.
11:50So if I just see this, see if this works.
11:54I've just dipped my finger in it.
11:56Look at that.
11:58He doesn't like the whiskey.
12:00Anyway, flick him off out there.
12:04I'm just finally getting dry.
12:06My feet are taking a bit of a beating today.
12:10Really wet.
12:12Got a bit of open wounds.
12:14Aldo did tell me what it's called.
12:16It's not quite foot rot, but it's on its way.
12:22You just really need to look after your feet in the jungle.
12:24You need a bit of love.
12:26Last thing to do is get naked.
12:36So this is morning in the jungle, and this is the worst part about it.
12:44When you're in the jungle, you've got two sets of clothes.
12:46One is dry for the evenings when you're in your bed, and one's wet.
12:50And then in the morning, you get up and put your wet kit on.
12:54It's just that cold.
12:56It's just so horrible.
12:58But you've just got to get it done.
13:00But to be honest, I'm all right with the trousers.
13:02It's the top I hate.
13:04And the boxers.
13:05But I put on dry boxers.
13:06I thought I'd treat myself.
13:08Catching tigers on camera is no easy task.
13:12I keep nicking my brush, man.
13:14What are you doing?
13:15They won't break cover when they can see or smell us.
13:19And trust me, after three days in the jungle, we stink.
13:25On this expedition, we're all mucking in to get as many remote cameras rigged as possible.
13:31These remote cameras, they're the only real way we're going to get any shots in this jungle, you know?
13:36So they're going to be the eyes and ears and trying to capture as many tigers as we can.
13:40We want hard evidence that the range of protection is working and could be extended outside of the national park.
13:53You just never know what they're going to capture.
13:56Like a new female, that would be incredible.
13:58A pregnant female or cubs.
14:00You know, all these little signs would just be proof that the population is growing.
14:05Yeah.
14:06I'm done.
14:07These ones are done.
14:08Do you want them back in there?
14:09We've got another 80 to do.
14:10Hang on.
14:11Hang on a minute.
14:12We ain't finished.
14:13We've got loads to do.
14:16Liang Song Hong helped the Malaysian Wildlife Department carry out a nationwide census of tigers
14:23and discovered crashing numbers largely due to poaching.
14:28But that was more than five years ago.
14:31He needs new data fast.
14:33How are tiger numbers doing on the Malaysian Peninsula itself?
14:38During the last survey, we captured less than 150 tigers.
14:43So it's quite critical right now.
14:45So we're pretty much at a tipping point for the Malaysian tiger.
14:49You know, if nothing's done, then these animals could become extinct.
14:52Yeah.
14:53Yes.
14:54Hong always judges a tiger by its stripes.
14:58He'll compare any images of their markings that we can capture against his own database
15:04to see if tiger numbers are bouncing back.
15:07If you capture any new tigers or even the tiger we have captured before, then we can see the trend,
15:13whether they're actually going up or going down.
15:16The Limestone Mountain will be the focus of our search.
15:20And this deep gorge should funnel the tigers for a pinch point, making it the perfect place to rig our cameras.
15:29But getting up there is a serious trek.
15:32The heat, the humidity, I absolutely love it.
15:37It's hard graft.
15:39It's a little bit of me in there.
15:42Hurry, hurry, Slippy in the moment.
15:45That's the thing when you're last.
15:48When you're last, everyone's slipping and sliding.
15:53When you're last, you're bloody.
15:58You get caught back and then you're in everyone else's footsteps.
16:04But when you're at the front, you just eat loads of spiderwears.
16:18This is nuts, isn't it?
16:21It's beautiful.
16:22Yeah.
16:26Hong, it's starting to feel a bit...
16:28getting a bit claustrophobic with these big massive limestone walls.
16:34It's kind of daunting actually.
16:36And then you get this tiny little funnel spot, eh?
16:39So do the cats walk along here?
16:41Yeah.
16:42So this is the limestone corridor now.
16:43You can see this is the really narrow spot that all the animals have to pass through
16:47to go from this valley over here to the other valley or the other sites.
16:51This is the spot.
16:52So this is where we definitely need to rig some traps.
16:55A grand total of 100 camera traps rigged across the heart of tiger territory.
17:08We have to get as much tiger in our shot as possible because we can only tell who they
17:14are from their stripes.
17:16All their stripes.
17:17You can never really, really predict the height of whatever animal you're trapping.
17:22It might cut the head off the cat or it could be the chin.
17:27So you've just got to, like, hope for the best.
17:30Now all we need is a tiger.
17:32Y'all need a stunt double, please, mate.
17:35And no, that is not a tiger.
17:39.
17:42Whilst Deca and Aldo are deep in the forest, I'm targeting the river.
17:54And I've got some expert help, local guide and filming specialist Naveen.
18:03So V, what do you think about this spot here?
18:05Well, well, well, well.
18:07This is perfect because tigers might be following this trail.
18:11Correct.
18:12And then cross this river so they can control a large territory.
18:19We just have to hope that the river will be a magnet for tigers.
18:27But maybe not just yet.
18:30I thought I had a little nibble earlier on.
18:35I might go upstream of you.
18:37Yeah, that's probably wise, mate.
18:41Where do you reckon they are, Deck?
18:43What, the fish? Yeah.
18:45Far away from you, mate.
18:51Might just be rice and veg tonight.
19:01This is the biggest ant species in the world.
19:06And there's a lot of them using my hammock as a bit of a thoroughfare.
19:15Passing information, a little bit of passing.
19:18Where are they going?
19:19Where are they going?
19:32Morning.
19:36Order of the day is coffee.
19:42So what do you guys think about the tiger though?
19:44Are you, are you fearing the tiger here?
19:46Or are you kind of excited to be in its land?
19:49How are you guys feeling about it?
19:51You'll be surprised that they know we're here.
19:53They can hear us, they can feel us.
19:56With such a small amount of tigers in this geographical area,
20:00then they'll be even more scared of humans.
20:05Do you know what they're being poached for?
20:07It used to be years ago people would hunt them just for their skins.
20:12But now the skins are almost like a by-product.
20:16They're boiled down and turned into little, little things of glue.
20:23They're about the size of a cigarette packet.
20:26Like we three would meet and we'd have a preferred spirit tequila,
20:29mezcal, whiskey.
20:31And then you shave off a little part of the tiger stock cube or glue into your drink.
20:39And then that's like my sign of wealth over you two is that I'm able to share such a valuable product.
20:46It's, that's, that's heartbreaking, you know.
20:50It just seems crazy, right?
20:53Crazy, but lucrative.
20:56Which is largely why there are so few Malayan tigers left.
21:01Just one animal is worth tens of thousands of dollars on the black market.
21:07So I'm heading out to the border area to just see actually what the situation is like with poaching.
21:14And Deck and V can finish rigging the cameras.
21:21Inside the park, tigers are heavily protected.
21:25Outside, things get harder.
21:29Rangers have reported signs of poaching right on the edge of Taman Nagara,
21:35in an area already earmarked by the Royal Family of Malaysia for more protection.
21:40But there aren't any active ranger patrols here yet.
21:47So I need to see what we're up against.
21:50And to be honest, it's not a great start.
21:53Three leeches already.
21:56Quite a grim feeling knowing that you've got things feeding on your blood all the way up your legs.
22:00Hidden dangers are all around us.
22:05Rafi, a community ranger, knows exactly where to look.
22:10Rafi, what have you seen?
22:12Can you see it?
22:14Big viper.
22:16Yeah, I can see him just there.
22:18So well camouflaged, look at that.
22:21What is it?
22:23Pit viper.
22:25Pit viper.
22:27The sky will be venomous, right?
22:28Yes.
22:29Good spot Rafi.
22:31You've got good eyes.
22:37This close to the equator, the sun disappears fast.
22:42We need to make camp.
22:43So vines for tying, what you can learn off these guys in a couple of hours is absolutely amazing.
22:59I need to sharpen my perang.
23:00It might not look like much, but it keeps us off the floor.
23:08This might be a long night.
23:09And away from snakes and spiders.
23:12Good night Rafi.
23:13Good night Rafi.
23:27It's just absolutely starting tipping it down.
23:31We've had to move his bed closer to mine so we could fit them both under the top.
23:37I'm worried these downpours are becoming heavier and more frequent.
23:41Rather miserable.
23:43We just have to hope the monsoon holds off.
23:58While Aldo's away,
24:02we keep busy.
24:04We're on a mission, we're on a mission to rig traps.
24:07Finishing the prep for the first major camera survey in this forest for over five years.
24:15Crazy steep, but it's worth it.
24:17Yeah?
24:18Yep.
24:19Whee!
24:25This trekking is absolutely epic.
24:29Climbing the equivalent of the Empire State Building every day.
24:33When you've got to walk two hours straight of that, your legs start feeling woozy.
24:37Is this a trail?
24:39I hope it is.
24:41I'm mackered.
24:42I want to leave here.
24:44The job is not done.
24:46Just keep walking.
24:47Just keep walking.
24:48Just keep walking.
24:49It's it.
24:50It's happened.
24:51We've done it.
24:52We've finally rigged all of the cameras.
24:57Now, our cameras can start capturing rainforest life.
25:03Like never before.
25:07First up, an endangered Malayan tapir.
25:15Less than 3,000 of these exist anywhere in the world.
25:20Next, a goat-like creature called a sorrel.
25:25These are so rarely seen, they have an almost mythical status.
25:38And this pack of foot-high jungle dogs called dolls may look cute.
25:45But when they work as a team, they can fight off a tiger.
25:49The biggest hole by far is elephants.
25:57Lots and lots of elephants.
26:00These five-ton jungle giants are a big danger to us and our cameras.
26:08Oh, Jesus.
26:10Have you seen this?
26:12Now, that's a first.
26:14That has been absolutely f***ed.
26:17Jeez.
26:19So, yeah, the Ellie obviously found one it could really have a go at.
26:22And it's just absolutely savage, this trap.
26:26I couldn't imagine any other animal doing this.
26:30And we still haven't seen a single tiger.
26:41Just outside the park, I'm still on the hunt for signs of poaching.
26:45Needles.
26:49Needles.
26:51Instant needles.
26:53It's not that old, it's not that faded.
26:55No.
26:57So this is a poaching camp here?
27:00Yeah.
27:02How many people do you think would be living here?
27:05Five percent.
27:06Five people.
27:07Five people.
27:08Yeah.
27:09So you've got the crossbar for a tarpaulin.
27:14Yeah.
27:15For the fly.
27:16And then you've got these two poles.
27:20So you sling your hammock up.
27:23Look at that.
27:29It's there just on the end of the hammock.
27:36There's more stairs there.
27:38And this is just 40 minutes walk outside the boundary of the protected area.
27:43Would this be used for?
27:45For tiger.
27:46For tiger.
27:48And there's no fence to stop tigers living there from coming here and walking right into a trap.
27:55Just like this.
27:57We should take these withers, collect them up and take them out.
28:01I've got to get back to the rest of the team and tell them what I've found.
28:06Luckily, Deck has shown me how to rig up cameras.
28:10If anything comes through here, we're going to capture it.
28:14And the truth is we've seen more signs of poaching on this ridge line than we have done of tigers.
28:21I'm sure you've got a few tails, have you?
28:26Yeah, man.
28:27Good to see you.
28:28Wow.
28:29Yeah.
28:30We've covered probably 12 to 15 kilometers.
28:33Really?
28:34Yeah.
28:35If you look at these, these are industrial gauge steel cable.
28:39That's for big animals.
28:41That's for big animals.
28:42Big animals.
28:43Big mammals.
28:45Wow.
28:46If you look at that.
28:47So that's what it does.
28:48That whatever was in that struggled big time.
28:52We've got signs of poaching and poachers.
28:55Yeah.
28:56We don't have very much signs of tigers.
29:00It's just really vital that we capture those tigers before the poachers do.
29:07It's time to check the camera traps.
29:10So I'm heading back to the limestone corridor, the first area we rigged.
29:15Nice.
29:16Look.
29:17Oh, the black bird.
29:18Come through shit.
29:19Oh.
29:20Oh my word.
29:21It's here.
29:22The king of the jungle.
29:24I need to see that again.
29:25Oh no.
29:26Oh no.
29:27It's only got three feet.
29:28It's only got three feet.
29:29Oh my word.
29:30It's here.
29:31Oh my word.
29:32It's here.
29:34The king of the jungle.
29:37Oh no.
29:40It's only got three feet.
29:54It's only got three feet
29:59It's been trapped in a snare that is mind-blowing
30:07That wasn't the the shot I was expecting but it really brings home like why we're here
30:18Wow
30:24I
30:27Got a shot I'd like to show you and obviously
30:31Not to let Hong see as well
30:34So if you guys take that
30:36Look at that. Wow, that's a good start
30:42This is the first tiger we've seen on the out-and-about. Yeah, it's press play. She's by the hang on
30:50Wow Wow, yeah, oh
30:54Oh
30:56Wow Wow, wow, wow, wow, poor bugger
30:59Oh
31:01No, yeah, I know it'd be good to hear your opinion on on this cat and you think that's definitely a snare
31:09Yeah
31:10It's still walking which is a good thing. So image like this is really powerful. It can trigger a big change
31:18If you show this image, how many people will be even more upset with the poacher
31:23Yeah, you can see you gotta get really emotional, but keep in mind that it's still alive, right?
31:31So we will use him to save his species
31:34I
31:36Guess a big question is where this is likely to have happened
31:40It could be at the edge of the forest at the park or even outside the park because
31:45Tiger they can travel quite a long distance really even within one day they can travel more than 10 kilometers
31:50So he could have easily come in from well outside the park and be on the way through
31:56Yeah, this is what you're coming here for. We want to show you the real story
32:00This shouldn't happen. Yeah
32:06The good news we found the tiger
32:09the bad
32:11It's only one cat and it's seriously hurt
32:16To make matters worse. It looks like the monsoon has started early
32:19It's a shaking the entire force
32:35Huge
32:44All my experience is telling me we need to go now
32:49I kind of woke up this morning in a bit of a daze in a sort of scratch in my head feeling a bit like
33:01Shit
33:03Because the storm was awesome, but
33:07About four in the morning. I just said big old crack
33:11And it I woke up and then you just heard another big crack in them
33:16And then a tree literally just fell
33:23Here
33:25And me and Vee and the rest of the camp is just there and
33:29Really shook me up that walk in down the key. Yeah, this is what made all that racket
33:33I'll be a lie if I said I wasn't still a bit shaken by it, you know if that landed on you here
33:38Then that would have killed you like without a doubt. Yeah
33:41definitely
33:43It's just too dangerous
33:46Time to go
33:49We've got to take everything out of the jungle with us apart from our rigged cameras
33:56Luckily
33:58They're monsoon proof all 100 of them and
34:04Over the next seven months they capture footage of every animal that crosses their path
34:11Malayan river otters a sun bear
34:15Buffy fish out wild boars and a muntjac deer
34:28To find out if we have captured any more tigers, we need to go back into the jungle back into the broccoli boys back into the broccoli
34:49And retrieve all of the cameras
34:59The monsoon is over
35:02But the jungle still has surprises in store
35:08We have set our hammocks up right underneath a massive bee's nest and we have bees everywhere
35:23Look at that
35:24Look at that
35:28You almost can't operate properly
35:31But bees don't like smoke
35:34Perhaps standing by the fire will be smoke
35:37Oh, it's working
35:39It's working
35:41Bees under control
35:43Time to make a plan
35:46I'm going back into the jungle to collect the cameras we laid last time
35:51And V&A and I are heading to the edge of the park where we found snares to check those cameras too
36:01So we've just left Tamanagara National Park behind and now pushing deeper into the unprotected forest
36:11And just like last time, signs of poaching are everywhere
36:18The poachers are working like a military operation
36:23So they mark where there's a good area to then set up snares and then they come back in with a bigger team
36:29And they know they're in the right place
36:30And we're just a mile away from the border of the National Park
36:41Stop, stop, stop, V stop
36:43Stay there
36:45Don't move, don't move
36:47Don't move
36:49Take your foot back out
36:50Look out
36:53That's a big snail right there
36:56Ooh, that's close feed
36:59It's amazingly camouflaged
37:02Yeah, look at that
37:04That right there is a snail that is set to catch a tiger
37:09A tiger
37:13We are right in the front line of conservation
37:16This is where it gets quite complex
37:21And real
37:29This is exactly the type of snail that could have taken the paw from our tiger
37:35But it's just, it's really heartbreaking, man
37:38Really heartbreaking
37:41This makes me happy
37:43Really?
37:44Yeah, because that's one snare that we've removed from this landscape
37:49And two, every single piece of evidence that we collect like this
37:53That's going to be more evidence to put more weight behind
37:56Getting more boots out on the ground and patrolling this area
38:01We're on the right track here
38:05And there's still camera traps to collect
38:08Loads of them
38:10As you walk through the forest
38:12You always have a nice moment
38:14And right now
38:16You can hear the sea of man gibbon
38:21The sounds of the gibbon is definitely one of the most beautiful choruses I've heard in a while
38:26And now I think they've stopped
38:35These cameras have been sitting here for some time
38:48So I'm really looking forward to seeing what they've got
38:54Hopefully
38:56They're still working
38:59Yeah, they're still working, which is great
39:01And the good news is
39:04We've captured cats
39:07Whoa
39:09Loads of them
39:11From tiny marbled ones
39:13To much larger golden cats
39:16And even a panther
39:18But we still need tigers
39:24Oh what?
39:26Oh no way
39:29That's nuts mate
39:31That is, I can't even
39:33I've got to get back to tell the others
39:36Oh my god
39:38But they're miles away
39:40And still outside the national park boundary
39:42Oh my god
39:44Oh my god
39:48Oh my god
39:50Oh my god
39:52Six, seven, eight, nine
39:55Ten snares
39:57Ten snares, ten tigers
39:59That's ten percent of the million tigers
40:01Wiped out in this bunch of metal right here
40:04But it's crucial evidence that proves
40:07This area needs more anti-poaching rangers
40:10It's all about these rangers
40:12They don't normally patrol this forest here
40:14They patrol in Tamanagara
40:16So effectively what we've got here is a blueprint
40:20On how to protect and conserve a forest
40:23They are the heroes in the front line
40:28But we still need to prove what a great job they're doing
40:32To make the best case for extending the protection outside of the park
40:36And there's only one way to do that
40:40I feel so nervous
40:41It feels like we're getting our exam results
40:44I actually didn't believe what I saw
40:46Okay
40:48The boys know I've got something good to show them
40:50Whoa!
40:56Look at the size of him
40:58Look at the confidence, the elegance
40:59No way
41:00Look at the elegance
41:02No way
41:06Look how beautiful that is
41:08Oh my gosh
41:11In total we've managed to get ten new tigers
41:14Never filmed before
41:18But it gets even better
41:19Whoa!
41:23Whoa!
41:24Oh, no, no
41:26Look at that!
41:28Yeah
41:30Two beautiful little calves
41:32This is a true surprise, man
41:34Here we go, number three
41:38That's so cool
41:41It's just beautiful
41:42Oh, man
41:44The start of a new generation of tigers
41:47It is the future of this forest
41:53We've proved there are new tigers being born
41:56But the population can't grow
41:58If they're walking out of the park
42:01And straight into poacher's snares
42:05So while the boys finish packing up camp
42:11And collecting all the cameras
42:13I've gone ahead
42:15Because I've got a date
42:18With royalty
42:20Hello, I'm here to see his royal highness
42:23Oh, okay, you're putting all things in?
42:25Yes, thank you, cheers
42:27I've managed to get a meeting with a man
42:29Who could help expand the protected area
42:31The Crown Prince of Pahang
42:37He's already established a new royal tiger reserve
42:42On paper
42:44But if we can provide fresh evidence
42:46It will help him convince the government
42:49To provide more ranger patrols
42:53But he's so busy
42:56I've only got a few minutes for the ultimate elevator pitch
42:58When you see it from the helicopter
43:02It's just so vast and so huge
43:05It makes you really think how difficult it actually is to protect it
43:09Exactly
43:11Ever since I was a kid
43:13When my mum first time brought me to Tamanagara
43:17I said to her I want to protect the jungle
43:20We did a couple of trips round to the forest on the periphery of Tamanagara
43:25And we found quite a few of these tiger snares
43:31In one area I cleared maybe 15 snares
43:35I am furious to see this
43:39They shouldn't be found in the jungles
43:42But interestingly, on a more positive note
43:44Just outside the National Park
43:48We found four separate individuals that are new to the database
43:55You know, clearly the tigers are roaming further than the National Park
43:58If we have more new tigers
43:59I can't afford for them to fall into one of these nests
44:01For me, this is gold standard for me to show to the government and the people
44:04Anything that can help you with protecting this and extending the boundary?
44:08Because the tigers is the king of the jungle
44:10And we must protect the king of the jungle
44:12Right
44:13Right
44:14And we must protect the king of the jungle
44:15Right
44:16And we must protect the king of the jungle
44:17Right
44:18And we must protect the king of the jungle
44:19Right
44:20And we must protect the king of the jungle
44:26So they're hid up the area
44:28Right
44:30It's not just the position for protectingbar
44:32Because the tigers are the king of the jungle
44:34And the people
44:39So they'reiani and all the tigers are the one
44:40It's according to the unt政府
44:41Next time, Mongolia.
45:01I was going to say you can stick on your AC, but you don't have any.
45:05Searching for the world's rarest bears.
45:08You will not believe this.
45:09In a place few people have ever set fruit.
45:13Oh, imagine.
45:14And a challenge.
45:16I've never failed this lovely.
45:18That will push us to breaking point.
45:20Are you getting free?
45:22I really don't want to fail on this.
45:39I really am.
45:41I really don't want to fail on this.
45:43I was just looking forward to making sure this is good.
45:46I love that.
45:47If you ask them,
45:51try toDIM million.
45:53I love that.
45:55I love that.
