10 June - National weather forecast presented by Aidan McGivern.
Transcript
00:00Hello.
00:01Brighter skies, higher temperatures and increased humidity as well as the risk of thunderstorms
00:07all to come during the rest of this week.
00:09But we start off Tuesday with extensive low cloud across England and Wales, some mist
00:14and murk around western hills and coasts in particular, some patches of drizzle slowly
00:19clearing but persisting across some southern areas well into the afternoon.
00:24Further north, the skies are steadily brightening through the day, plenty of sunshine breaking
00:28out, still some showers particularly across northern Scotland.
00:32And feeling a little fresher, 19 to 20 Celsius in the sunnier skies further north could squeeze
00:37a 22, 23 degrees in the southeast if the skies brighten up in time.
00:42But we do keep a lot of low cloud across the far south and increasingly the west as another
00:47weather system moves through this one, just skirting the far northwest of Scotland, bringing
00:52some patchy rain to the outer Hebrides, otherwise it's a dry and clear night for many, some
00:57mist and fog in the south.
00:59But clear skies for many other places, temperatures dipping into the single figures as a result.
01:05But plenty of sunshine around on Wednesday, certainly extensively across eastern Scotland,
01:10northern and eastern England, parts of east Wales.
01:13Some low clouds still along that south coast and some clouding to western and central Scotland,
01:18patchy rain again into the north and west of Scotland.
01:21But for most it's dry and it's increasingly sunny and warm.
01:2425 to 27 Celsius, the top temperatures through the Midlands and northwest England on Wednesday.
01:30And it's going to turn even more humid as we go through Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
01:34as this plume of humid air is drawn our way from the continent.
01:40However, as the humidity climbs, we also see low pressure approach from the west.
01:46And that could destabilise the whole set-up, leading to, later this week, the risk of some
01:53very energetic thunderstorms, not only through Thursday but also, more especially, through
01:59Saturday.
02:00We'll keep you updated on all of that.
02:02Alex Deacon covers it on our YouTube channel in his week-ahead forecast.
02:06Bye-bye.
