00:00Hello, a very cold start out there. Widespread frost and watch out for slippery surfaces.

00:06Once again, icy patches, the main hazard as we begin the day. Certainly where we've had

00:10precipitation falling overnight and then freezing of the ground and the air. Minus five Celsius

00:16widely minus double figures for some of the colder parts of Northern Britain, particularly

00:21where we've got snow cover and some higher ground. We continue to see freezing fog patches

00:26persist through the morning. Northern Ireland, parts of Wales, the Midlands, for example,

00:30some of these will continue into the afternoon. Otherwise, plenty of crisp winter sunshine

00:34in the east. Further southwest, we've got an area of cloud and we start the day with

00:37outbreaks of rain. Again, falling onto frozen ground could lead to some slippery surfaces

00:42and a few more centimetres of snow coming out of that, above 150 metres mainly. So predominantly

00:47Dartmoor seeing the largest snow accumulations from this system. But it does tend to fizzle

00:53away by the end of the day. Some places not seeing temperatures rise above freezing all

00:58day. And then under clear skies as we go into the night time, widespread freezing fog will

01:04form once again, this time most likely the Midlands, parts of eastern England, for example.

01:09And that's likely to be extensive on Saturday morning, so poor visibility about and it's

01:14likely to persist with temperatures once again widely below freezing and below minus ten

01:19Celsius in some of the colder spots in the north where we've got snow cover. A marked

01:23contrast to Northern Ireland, Wales and the southwest where we start the weekend with

01:27cloud and frost free where we've got that cloud cover. Some outbreaks of rain, perhaps

01:31a few flakes of snow initially. But this system is bringing much milder air in, so it's a

01:36cold day again on Saturday in the east. But watch how the weather changes as we go into

01:41Sunday. We've got this warm front pushing into northern parts of the UK, high pressure

01:46building in the south. So we keep that cold air in the southeast in particular for another

01:51day or two. But across parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland, western England and Wales,

01:56you can see how the milder air begins to intrude on Sunday. And with a freshening breeze coming

02:02from the southwest for western Scotland in particular, it's going to turn much wetter.

02:06Dry though for the south with that high pressure. And the indication is that through next week

02:12we'll keep high pressure close to the south. So mostly dry, a few frosty nights perhaps,

02:16a lot of cloud coming along eventually. Whilst further north it will be more changeable with

02:21spells of wind and rain for the northwest of Scotland.
