00:00Another email came in to email at DaveAndChuckTheFreak.com
00:09and someone said, I just found your show
00:12and now I'm going back listening to old episodes.
00:17One from over a decade ago.
00:20You were talking about a lady who ran a half marathon
00:23and went into labor without knowing she was even pregnant.
00:27And then you asked if this has happened to anyone else
00:29listening.
00:31Well, I had to share.
00:33It happened to me.
00:34Yeah, I mean, I guess.
00:36I'm sure at the time I was like, how could you not know?
00:38I mean, I can only imagine what I said, but over a decade ago.
00:42I think we were probably like, well, you'd have to be,
00:47I just said, you'd have to be a bit bigger
00:49to not notice a body change.
00:52But this woman ran a marathon, so that wasn't the case here.
00:56I don't know.
00:57That story that we talked about over a decade ago.
00:58You can run a marathon and still be chubby.
01:03Be a little chubby.
01:05It's a rough go.
01:07It's a rough go, but you can't.
01:09I don't think you'd be that great.
01:10I don't see that.
01:11You're not going to go real fast,
01:12but you ever heard of people doing a half marathon,
01:15finishing a half in like five hours?
01:17We did, actually.
01:18Yeah, so it does.
01:20It can.
01:20That's one of the top Google questions.
01:22Can a fat person run a marathon?
01:23I feel like that they can.
01:26If a fat person tries to do a marathon without training.
01:31Oh, no.
01:31No, you can't.
01:32Look at that guy, how fat he is.
01:34Oh, my God.
01:34That guy is a marathon runner.
01:36300 pounds and running.
01:38Yeah.
01:39I mean, I bet his knees hurt.
01:40But I bet he must have lost some serious weight to,
01:43he must have been real fat.
01:46Yeah, along that journey.
01:47Yeah.
01:48Because you don't just get up and run one.
01:51That is the best way to lose weight.
01:53Yeah.
01:54It's hard.
01:55It's not.
01:55It's the worst and the best.
01:57It's the best way to lose weight,
01:58but the worst thing to experience.
02:00Yeah.
02:00Yeah.
02:01Like, I wouldn't even want to walk a marathon.
02:04A marathon is like 10 miles, isn't it?
02:07Oh, it's 26.2.
02:09No, it's 26 miles.
02:09Over 26.2.
02:11It was just out of my reach.
02:12I did five miles and was like, I am an Olympian.
02:16That's it.
02:16That's enough.
02:18I'm like a Greek.
02:19I am a world-level champion.
02:21Yeah.
02:21Five miles.
02:23Are you crazy?
02:23Yep.
02:24I hate running.
02:26Oh, me too.
02:26So much.
02:27I don't like it.
02:28I really tried to get into it.
02:30I took a running class.
02:31Remember years ago?
02:33Yeah, you tried.
02:34You tried.
02:35Like, I got into it for a minute,
02:37but then I just realized, like,
02:37my life at the time was just so bad,
02:39that was the only thing that...
02:41It was like you focused all your fire on that.
02:43Right, yeah.
02:43And it was like a real, like, rocky moment in my life.
02:48Well, that'll do it, though.
02:49You were, like, addicted to running, right?
02:51You were like Forrest Gump.
02:52I was.
02:53I did.
02:53It was exactly like Forrest Gump.
02:55Yeah.
02:55I was just, like, kind of snapped one day.
02:57I never thought about that.
02:58And I was like, I'm going for a run.
03:00I'm going running.
03:01Yeah, I'm going to go for a run.
03:02And he just kept running, and I kept going.
03:08Forrest Green.
03:09Oh, my God.
03:10One mile, then two miles.
03:12Oh, my God.
03:12I never even thought of it that way.
03:15Like our very own Forrest Gump.
03:17It really was like that.
03:19Yeah.
03:20Run, Forrest Green.
03:21Run.
03:21For no particular reason.
03:23And I just kept going.
03:25People were falling.
03:26Yeah, people did.
03:27I'm sure that's what they said as I ran by.
03:29Oh, bless his heart.
03:30He's trying.
03:31Well, no, because I knew that it wouldn't be sustainable.
03:34Like, you couldn't run like that forever.
03:36Oh, I know.
03:36But the last time I did it, I was just like, what am I going to do?
03:40Six miles?
03:41This is crazy.
03:42Yeah.
03:42I'm out of my mind.
03:44Yeah.
03:44And then I just walked home.
03:45Yep.
03:46And that was it.
03:47And that was it.
03:48And it was done.
03:49Yeah.
03:49Because isn't that?
03:50That's also what Forrest Gump did.
03:51I'm kind of tired.
03:53I guess I'll go home now.
03:54It was exactly like Forrest Gump.
03:56It was a short time in my life where I just ran.
03:58Yeah.
04:00And then I stopped one day.
04:02Yeah.
04:02I'm pretty tired.
04:07All the people behind you were all like, what?
04:10Well, you're going to run?
04:11Oddly enough, just like Forrest Gump, one day I was running and this guy came up to me
04:15and he goes, he stops and pulls over and gets out of his car and he's like, man, I've
04:20seen you run in the last few weeks.
04:22Can I run with you?
04:23What?
04:24Yeah.
04:24And I was like, no.
04:25No.
04:26I was different than Forrest Gump.
04:29Forrest would have let the guy run with him.
04:31I was like, and I tried to sound real cool too.
04:32I'm like, no, I run alone.
04:36Yeah.
04:37You're the Han Solo of runners.
04:38Right.
04:39I don't like running with people.
04:41I just run alone.
04:42I like it.
04:43But I did.
04:44I turned around and went back home.
04:47He was tired.
04:48It was tiring.
04:49I had fallen two days before that and thought I had broken my arms.
04:56I never thought of it in the way where it was like, you know, I was dealing with some
05:01stuff.
05:02So I ran.
05:03It was just like that.
05:04Because that's what happened to him, right?
05:05He was like, well, that's a bit too much.
05:07That's what it was.
05:09It was too much.
05:10That's what it was.
05:11He's like, things are getting pretty heavy.
05:13Yeah.
05:16Just ran.
05:18Well, people are basically comparing me to Forrest Gump for taking a running class.
05:23I didn't take it.
05:24Okay.
05:25Obviously, I know how to run, for God's sakes.
05:27I can just move fast.
05:28It was more like a group running.
05:29Like you run together, right?
05:30I feel like it was Dave with those braces on his knees.
05:33What was it?
05:34I thought it would teach me how to run correctly.
05:40You know, like the warmups to do.
05:42Maybe go like a couple of miles and then a couple of miles further.
05:46It was not that at all.
05:47It literally was a bunch of marathon runners meeting to run together.
05:50Yeah.
05:50And then me be like.
05:52It's like a running club.
05:54Yeah.
05:54Yeah.
05:55But I was supposed to like teach you how to run club.
05:57And they didn't do any of that.
05:58They didn't teach you anything.
06:00They taught me Jack.
06:01Yeah.
06:01Oh, man.
06:02They taught me how to get plantar fasciitis because I didn't have the right shoes.
06:05Forrest Green, what made you give it up?
06:09What made me give it up?
06:09It was just too much.
06:11That's it.
06:11It was too much.
06:12And my life got a little better.
06:14Yeah.
06:16Really?
06:16You lost a lot of weight.
06:17I did.
06:18I did.
06:19And then food started talking to me again.
06:22Ice cream.
06:24Delicious.
06:25Yeah.
06:26It is.
06:26You can't keep that up.
06:27But, yeah, I just found it.
06:28I found it to be very unsustainable, honestly.
06:31Yeah, that's it.
06:31It didn't become like my thing I looked forward to every day like a lot of runners do.
06:36They say when you're starting a workout or a diet, make sure that it's sustainable.
06:41Like, can I do this forever?
06:42Yeah.
06:42Yeah.
06:42And if you can't, then just don't even bother.
06:44Well, it was like for a while it was cool because I was like, wow, I just went two miles
06:48and then I went to go three the next day.
06:49And I'm like, I just did three miles.
06:51And then I got all the way up to five.
06:52And I'm like, what is this going to keep going?
06:54Yeah.
06:55When does it stop?
06:55When does it stop?
06:56I'm like, I'm at an hour now.
06:58This is horrible.
06:58Yeah.
06:59But then also, like, you know, you're getting some gratification from reaching those milestones
07:05and they get harder to.
07:08Yeah.
07:08Like do better and better.
07:10Get to and more time consuming to get to.
07:12So like the dopamine.
07:14It goes less and less.
07:16You know.
07:17It's tough.
07:18It's tough.
07:19I did.
07:19I went home and got fat again.
