Dave & Chuck the Freak talk about a man in Connecticut who tried to save a rattlesnake that was in the road and ended up being bit. He's had a history of of animal encounters and we give him the name, Dr. Dumblittle.

00:37lover from connecticut tried to help a snake off the road he's gonna tell the oh no no yeah no no

00:47no no no stay away from snakes yes and of course he got bit yes by the snake and nearly died what

00:56nearly died because of it here's his story now from wfsb tv it sounded like he was trying to make

01:06like almost a funny voice like at first i thought he was messing with me britney hillmire is used to

01:10her daughter's father joey richardella being a jokester but this time no joke he was getting

01:17to the point he really couldn't talk and you couldn't understand him it was like trying to

01:22talk to somebody with a mouthful of marbles not a laughing matter indeed her daughter's father was

01:27bitten by a rattlesnake and it turns out the venom was affecting his breathing he has had a bat in his

01:33house at one point that had a broken wing that he was trying to fix uh last week

01:38yeah joseph what the hell is that a bat yeah see what are you doing with a bat in your house

01:47i take care of you he's like a really unqualified dr doolittle that's yeah no skills stressful being

01:55with that guy oh my god what is dr dumb little gonna do next be bunny he's an animal lover hillmire

02:02was not surprised when hearing richardella went out of his way to help a rattlesnake he came across

02:07in the middle of the road he wanted to move it before it got hit so he threw his shirt over the

02:12head thinking that that would keep him safe and he picked it up to move it out of the road and it

02:17bit him in the hand richardella made his way back to his car then drove himself to the nearest hospital

02:22in torrington his respiratory system failing he even went into cardiac arrest doctors told hillmire

02:29only one thing would save him anti-venom the short supply at charlotte hungerford led to him being

02:35moved to harford hospital i guess a lot of hospitals it's not common for them to carry like large amounts

02:41of anti-venom only two venomous snakes live in the state the northern rattlesnake or the timber

02:47rattlesnake richardella's family says he tried to help deep says if you encounter either species

02:53observe it from a distance calmly and slowly back away and allow the snake to go on its own

02:59the bites from the timbers can be fatal richardella's family says he's lucky and he will recover for at

03:05least one week in the hospital they're waiting for the swelling to go down and then he won't be

03:10sedated so heavily anymore and that's when he'll be able to talk he's still talking like he has a

03:16mouth full of marbles right now apparently my god i'm amazed that she's not embarrassed she's just

03:24used to like she should be in hiding right yes like i think some women just get used to their man being

03:31this guy but she is his former girlfriend they just share a daughter so she oh so she knew yeah

03:41she was yeah don't go on the news yeah like when he tried to help that alligator with the cavity that

03:45was it that was the last straw that thing had a sore tooth and he's got a drill

04:01this guy yeah oh man he's in the hospital a lot yeah he is oh he's got the mouth full of marbles

04:06thing again because he tried to help a snake across the road it's tough because she's in a

04:11situation where she's like yeah uh he's my ex he's a total dumb ass but at the same time

04:18that's the father of my daughter so i can't be too harsh on this guy or she's gonna hear it

04:24that snake must have been like what are you doing seriously i've got this yeah everything's okay

04:30crossing the street i almost slammed into the back of a guy on a road in florida a couple years ago

04:39because he came to a absolute crazy stop because he saw a turtle oh yeah i do hate when i see those

04:48turtles in the road you got to pull over and help them i don't know what those but you don't risk

04:51someone rear-ending no you pull over you can't just stop like an like he stopped and slammed on his

04:58brakes in the middle of the road i had to do the one like pull your car to the side bad yeah so i

05:04wouldn't hit him but like if it's a snake

05:10like don't you just yeah what you just keep i mean but you can't don't veer for deer so you

05:18ain't gonna swear for snakes that's what i'm saying and i mean like one less rattlesnake is probably

05:24okay in an area where there's a lot of rattlesnakes not to dr dumlittle i know to save them no it

05:29looked like they had video of him like touching a squirrel that clearly looked like it had rabies

05:34he'll just take a risk on anything he will yeah i know i know right you can tell right no the

05:47hairstyle the hairstyle gives it away he is not a bright the hairstyle i had to help that badger with

05:54pink eye

06:01really like don't ever let this man go anywhere where the animals are more dangerous yeah

06:06no right my god like a safari no it's just wild to me with those anti-venoms like they have to have

06:12the specific one oh yeah i think so so like you get bit by something crazy you just hope that the

06:18hospital has it they just look at you like sorry yeah no joke what'd you call that hairstyle he's

06:23i don't know it looks like it's a caesar it is a i'd say i'd call it the greasy caesar the greasy caesar

06:31it's like a doily of hair they dropped on him

06:35it's little fingerlets of hair that are squished flat to his head yeah

06:41yeah and very styled overly he's like a latino rob schneider

06:47yeah yeah yep like if i had to hire someone to play him it would be rob schneider right like get

06:54him in get him for dr dumb little give him that haircut but you can't help a snake cross the road
