00:00we've talked many times about how horrible detroit's roads are nasty and right now is
00:14always a horrible time of year spring you know potholes popping up everywhere well one woman
00:19she's in critical condition but she is lucky to be alive after a piece of concrete hit her car
00:26on 696 yesterday while she was driving and channel 7 has the story here a big slap of concrete flying
00:34off the road and into the windshield of a 46 year old gross point woman's suv the chunk of road hit
00:40her in the face knocking her unconscious and sending her crashing into another car that driver
00:45was okay but the victim rushed to a detroit hospital where she's in critical condition i have never
00:49heard of that you know we've heard of things falling off of overpasses of course tires bouncing
00:55down the road concrete coming up from the road well hitting someone in the face could have been
01:01a semi hit it and flung it back flung it back or just shot it sideways like shot it oh yeah you know

01:15guys doing this morning we're doing okay man we're talking about this accident yesterday on 696
01:19uh driving hit a pothole and almost instantaneously my whole car went up in smoke and what happened was
01:27what had happened was i hit it so hard two of my hoses on my radiator busted loose and sprayed
01:33coolant all over my engine it went up in flames it didn't go up in flames nothing caught fire
01:40but the whole thing just started smoking overheat thanks brandon i think dave you're the only one who
01:46had a car catch on fire on the show right yeah yes and it wasn't the roads no i know yeah it was
01:51poorly maintained vehicle you had a car catch on fire i had a car catch on fire my first day of
01:56college i was like gonna get there early impress the professor
02:00i'm calling god damn it oh no no no no yeah they caught fire so i'm like so the the windshield
02:10wiper stopped and the radio faded away yeah so you knew something was up oh what's happening oh my god
02:17that's hilarious but i gotta keep going that's the in just internal stuff just melting melting right oh my
02:23god so then i'm like oh okay well i stayed on the road i'm like yeah okay well i get that you had to get
02:28to college for my first day at least yeah so i'm driving i'm driving and then smoke start it starts
02:36a little bit coming out i thought it was like you know how i'm when air's really cold that you can
02:40you would see it oh yeah your vents right yeah but this i was like oh it must be freezing and then i'm
02:46like oh that smell and it just then thick white smoke is billowing out of my vent so i pull off
02:55and i'm in the middle of nowhere i had to i popped the hood i'm like fire
03:01so i grabbed my book bag out of there and try to clear out the glove compartment and i ran up to
03:11this woman's house and i'm it's her screen's open but it's locked so she can hear me i'm like
03:16hello my car's on fire i didn't have a cell phone no no no and she's like all like nervous looking
03:28at me like i'm ready to kill her so she just opened the screen like a little bit and threw
03:32her cordless phone at me yeah and then closed it again so i called the fire department and just stood
03:38there and watch my car burn burn to the ground you know what this is i'm at one more memory i
03:44have to share because years later get uh a car i had started my first job in radio and um it was
03:51one of the old news cruisers they were selling real cheap at the station yeah but i'm like well i'll buy
03:56that pontiac grand prix i remember it finally at grand prix first day on the freeway with it i'm
04:03like oh i got my own wheels again freedom i was smoking then yeah so i'm like driving in the fast
04:10lane on the freeway lit my first cigarette of joy and then threw it out the window went right back in
04:17the back window yeah and i'm like ah the wind from the window so i see it burning its way into the
04:26seat i'm like oh no i'm in the back lane young inexperienced driver yeah and i'm trying to get
04:33over four lanes so i can extinguish the plane by the time i pull over it has burned its way all the
04:38way into the seat and i can't get it oh yeah i don't have any liquids oh my god and then i'm gonna burn
04:43another car down so i just started like jumping on the seat and then all my way to try and pad out
04:50the flames yeah yeah i got it yeah thank god thank god so you had that grand prix for a while oh yeah
04:57so then the grand prix hit a snag where um the doors and trunk would just pop open
05:02in the morning on the weekend or whatever and he was like dude come outside i'm like why he goes
05:20watch it's like my trunk will just open for no reason and uh we did we just he was parked
05:30the car was on and all of a sudden he's like i'm not hitting there's nothing there's no button
05:37being pressed and it would happen when i was driving too it was horrible oh no i think the
05:44problem was the other one was this it had electric seats it was like totally souped up for a news car
05:48yeah yeah but then the seat would like slide forward
05:51it'd be like your trash compactor
