Wales headlines 30 January: Man found guilty after leaving dead partner in bathroom

A 15 year old boy has been charged with attempted murder after a girl was stabbed at a railway station in Barry. British Transport Police say the incident took place in Cadoxton on Saturday evening. The girl was taken to hospital, but her injuries are not believed to be life threatening or life altering.

49 year old Matthew Pickering of Beaconsfield Street in Neath has been found guilty of murdering his 46 year old partner Georgina Dowey. Detective Inspector David Butt said that the man spent 40 hours trying to cover his tracks, including sending his victim messages with the full knowledge she was dead in his bathroom.

Two nesting ospreys have scuppered Welsh government plans for site of Greenman Festival near Crickhowell. The Welsh government bought Gilestone Farm for over 4 million pounds in 2022, but a nesting pair of protected birds have mean the site is unusable. Opposition parties say the purchase should have never happened.
