Former Wales manager and Manchester United star Ryan Giggs has been cleared of allegations of assault against his ex girlfriend and her sister. A town councillor in Bridgend is due to face a trial for attempted murder next month. Darren Brown of Tairfelin in Wildmill was taken into custody after police were called to a serious assault at a property on July 10th. Mr Brown will appear in Cardiff Crown court on August 9th.

A man has been cleared of murder after an altercation outside a pub which saw a man killed. 40 Hywel Williams was accused of killing 75 year old Peter Ormerond in a row over Welsh independence in September last year, but a court found him not guilty, as he claims he acted in self defence.
