South Wales Police will receive an extra 7.4% from council tax payers in an attempt to close a budget gap of over 20 million pounds. The tax hike means people will pay around 30 to 40 pence more a month, with some properties paying up to £1.86 more per month to the police. Police and Crime Commissioner Alun Michael said it was the hardest decision he’s faced in the job.

Welsh legend Joe Allen has retired from international football. The Welsh Pirlo made 74 appearances for the national side, and was part of the Wales side which made it to the semi finals of Euro 2016 and the World Cup in Qatar. The 32 year old said it was time to make way for the next generation and the future of Welsh football is bright.

Cardiff Council have confirmed there have been no decisions on the future of the Museum of Cardiff in the Hayes, despite staff being told to stop taking donations. There has been talk of it becoming a ‘mobile museum’ which would save £266,000 a year according to the council.
