Wales headlines 12 December: Prime Minister denies special covid treatment for England

Three men have died and a further are in hospital with life threatening injuries after a car and bus collided in Coedely in Rhondda Cynon Taff. The three men aged 18 and 19 were pronounced dead at the scene at around 7pm on Monday night. Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has denied claims that England and Wales were treated differently during the pandemic. Wales went into a lockdown in October with no job support, until England entered a similar lockdown in November when furlough was extended across the country. Mark Drakeford called it misguided.

Politicians in the Senedd’s language and culture committee have accused HSBC of showing contempt for Welsh speakers after they announced plans to close down their Welsh language helpline. The closure will come in January, with committee members calling on the bank to cancel plans to close the service.
