Wales headlines 7 July: Driver banned for driving in front of train

Four people have been arrested at a protest against the continued mining at a site in Merthyr. The Ffos y Fran coal mine is due to close at the end of July after losing planning permission in September last year. Three women and one man have been arrested for alleged aggravated trespassing after chaining themselves to the gates.

A three year old boy died in a fire in Swansea at the end of July 1st was found in his bedroom, with his death being due to exposure of the fire, an inquest has heard. Muhammad Esmeal, and his father 51 year old Naimat Lawa Esmael, both died as a result of the fire and had their funerals in Swansea last week.

A man in North Wales has been given a £2400 fine, a 12 month driving ban, and will need to undertake 120 hours of community service after he drove his Range Rover right in front of an oncoming train. 51 year old Dalat Gulzar risked the lives of his passengers and those on the train, Mold Crown court heard.
