Wales headlines 3 January: strikes to cause NHS disruption
  • 4 months ago
A report into South Wales’ fire and rescue service has found it tolerated sexual harassment among staff members. A probe was launched in 2023 after allegations of sexism and abusing behaviour towards staff. Chief fire officer Huw Jakeway apologised, and said he will be stepping down from his role.

NHS patients have been warned of mass disruptions to services when junior doctors take industrial action for three days later on this month. Non-emergency procedures will be paused during the strikes on the running from 15th January, which could see more than 3000 doctors withdraw their labour.

Flood warnings are still in place after storm Henk battered much of Wales, as the met office say there is a danger to life. Rivers across Wales have risen dramatically with the Ritec in Pembrokeshire reaching its highest level ever, and roads have been closed across a number of countries around the country.
