00:01Previously on Project Runway...
00:03We selected these eight uber-duber superfans to come be part of the show.
00:09Each of these ladies is going to be given a makeover by one of you.
00:14I don't want mom hair anymore.
00:15I want to change your look completely.
00:18I'm gonna make her look so hot.
00:24Helen, you are the winner of this challenge.
00:27Thank you so much.
00:29I'm sorry, Ken. That means you're out.
00:32You have a front row seat.
00:33For fashion's greatest show.
00:35This is Project Runway.
00:42So, final seven.
00:45New challenge today.
00:47Now we've really gotten down to the wire and there's a lot of pressure.
00:51At least we're in the home stretch though. There's only seven of us.
00:54Oh my god, I know.
00:55Because this is challenge number 11 and there's seven of us left and there can't be that many of us at Fashion Week.
01:05Everyone's kind of on edge about it.
01:07Are you ready?
01:08Fine writing.
01:19Hi.
01:20Hello.
01:21Hello.
01:23Good morning, everybody.
01:24So, designers, as you may have guessed, this is the HP and Intel textile design challenge.
01:35I love the HP Intel challenge. I have been waiting to do this since the beginning of this competition.
01:41You will be creating your textile design on the HP Envy Grove, which is the latest technology from HP and Intel right here.
01:51And the inspiration for this challenge will be a group of next generation innovators.
01:57At HP, we've been committed to making technology work for you so that you can focus on the things that matter.
02:02We know that the next generation needs next generation technology.
02:05The people you're about to meet represent the next generation in their fields.
02:09They're exactly the type of people that HP and Intel is delighted to develop technology and new products for.
02:14So, designers, each of you will be selecting one of these innovators to serve as the muse for your challenge, alright?
02:21This person will not be your model or your client, but rather the inspiration for your look.
02:27Let's meet our first innovator.
02:30What's up, guys? I'm Nigel Sylvester. I'm a professional BMX rider from New York City.
02:35Hi, my name is Alana Greenberg, and I'm the creative director at GD USA Magazine.
02:41Hi, my name is Tiago Silva. I'm the executive patron chef from Hatch, designing crazy cakes.
02:47Next, we have Maria Gonzalez. She's only 17.
02:50In my school, I started the Girls Code Club.
02:53Girls Code is a non-profit organization that teaches young girls computer science skills.
02:57Next.
02:58My name is Nonna Merriweather, and I am Miss USA 2012.
03:02I co-founded a non-profit in now five countries of southern Africa.
03:06My name is Premal Shah, and I'm co-founder and president of Kiva.org.
03:10Kiva connects people through lending to change lives.
03:13And Ryan.
03:14What's up? My name is Ryan Keeley. I'm an artist, designer, art director.
03:19Alright, are you ready to select your muse?
03:22Helen, you won the last challenge. You get to choose first.
03:25Ryan Keeley.
03:27Alright, for the rest of you, I'm going to select your names from the button bag.
03:30Kate.
03:31Maria, please.
03:32Alright. Justin.
03:33No, no.
03:34Braden.
03:35I'll go with Nigel.
03:37Alexander.
03:38Tiago.
03:39Alexandria.
03:40Ilana, please.
03:41So that means, Dom, you have Premal.
03:43So you're each going to go meet your innovators.
03:46Alright, you will have an hour.
03:48And during that hour, you're to get to know that person.
03:51Because they are going to serve as the core inspiration for the textile design and for the ensuing garments.
03:57Rob, you have something else to add.
03:59I do.
04:00The winning designer of our challenge today will receive a technology suite of HP technology with Intel inside.
04:06That will include two of my favorites.
04:08The Split X2, which you're going to use today, which is the notebook that doubles as a tablet.
04:12And the new Rode, which is the desktop that leaves the desktop behind.
04:15You can take it anywhere in the house.
04:16Plus, your inspiration partner will also receive the same technology prize.
04:20Oh, nice.
04:21Yes, thank you.
04:22Alright.
04:23You ready to take your little field trips?
04:25Have fun, everyone.
04:27I know.
04:28I co-founded a non-profit with my mom in 2006.
04:35We started in South Africa because that's where she was born and raised.
04:38We opened schools and clinics.
04:40We also have water projects.
04:42We focus a lot on children.
04:44If you can get a child into school as early as possible, it literally changes the course of life.
04:49I mean, you travel to these places and you think you're changing a child's life and it impacts you so much.
04:55It changes your life.
04:56I know.
04:57It's a gift to be giving back.
04:59Her passion and her love for everything really stuck out for me.
05:05I think that will translate into the climate that I will make.
05:09Hey, Maria.
05:10Hi.
05:11How are you?
05:12Hi.
05:13Good to meet you.
05:14Tell me about yourself.
05:15I was in Girls With Code, which is a program that gives girls the tools to create apps and programs and websites to reduce the gender gap in computer science.
05:24So I created this app which is called Say Something and it gives New Yorkers the opportunity to help homeless individuals.
05:30This is such a good idea.
05:32It's really empowering.
05:33Just being able to create something, I know how that feels.
05:36I mean, I get empowered every time I create a new garment.
05:39For the print, I want to play on the binary code so that you're not going to know until you're close up.
05:46Kind of like an app.
05:47Looking at it like this, you would never know how much code is behind that.
05:50That sounds cool.
05:51Hey, how you doing?
06:00What's good, bro?
06:01I'm Braden.
06:02Nigel.
06:03Nigel, good to meet you.
06:04Pleasure to meet you, man.
06:05So you started riding when?
06:06I was about 12 years old.
06:08Seen it on TV for the first time and I was like, that's what I want to do.
06:11But I use everything around me to express myself.
06:13If I see a handrail or a stair set or a ledge or a car.
06:18He's an innovator in his field and has followers worldwide at 25 years old.
06:24And he has got a lot of passion.
06:26I want to capture some of that and bring it into this textile.
06:29I was thinking of maybe like cityscape in an abstract way.
06:33That's sick too.
06:34Like I always think about if I had like a picture from just bird's eye view of me and the city, like blasting through.
06:40It would just be like this one continuous line.
06:42Awesome.
06:43That sounds awesome, dude.
06:44So are you wondering where you are?
06:46I am.
06:47This is Barbaloo.
06:49It was a restaurant completely destroyed by Hurricane Sandy.
06:53Oh wow.
06:54I've been working with them to rebuild.
06:56You can see here there are going to be renderings of what it's going to look like.
06:59That's beautiful.
07:00Is that real?
07:01Yeah.
07:02I'm really drawn towards the brick walls that have been fixed with cement and have been painted over.
07:06It'll translate really well into a print.
07:08Oftentimes there are small businesses or entrepreneurs and they have a passion, a plan, but they just lack a little bit of capital.
07:17You can crowdfund your loan on Kiva.
07:19You tell your story and people from around the world chip in in $25 chunks.
07:23I brought some photos along.
07:25Here's Maria in Guatemala.
07:26She is part of a women's collective that basically does indigenous designs.
07:31And what they're making is so colorful and vibrant.
07:33And that's something that I see all over the planet when I visit Kiva Entrepreneurs.
07:38This is like right up my alley, like the color and this is like so me.
07:44I just feel so inspired by how many people this has reached.
07:48And I'm just really excited to translate all these different people from so many different places into my textile.
07:54Hi, are you Ryan?
07:56Hey, what's up?
07:57I'm Helen, nice to meet you.
07:58Hi, nice to meet you.
07:59Yeah, welcome to my little world.
08:00This stuff is all a mixture of photography and abstract expressionism.
08:04So paint first, then print, then paint.
08:07That's awesome.
08:08Yeah, both of my parents are artists.
08:10That's how they met.
08:11Nice.
08:12Yeah, so what we're going to do today is take a photo of you and then print it right on
08:16top of what we paint.
08:17That's awesome.
08:18Both of my parents have painted since the day I can remember.
08:22So that had like a heavy influence on why I did design.
08:25I mean, they put me through school and they've helped me with any sort of fashion endeavor
08:30and I just, I really want to succeed to prove to them that I'm serious about my career choice.
08:35Is it finished?
08:36Yep.
08:37Cool.
08:39To have this experience to bond with another artist that just has that same mentality that
08:44I grew up around was really inspirational.
08:46But you know, I never work with print so I'm, I'm a little nervous about this challenge.
08:52And welcome to Catch.
08:53It's gorgeous.
08:54I'm part of M Group.
08:55So it's five restaurants and I oversee all the dessert programs.
08:58That's great.
08:59But I also do like specialty cakes and crazy cake, exploding cakes, spinning cakes, lit up cakes.
09:05Wow.
09:06So it's been good.
09:07I'm very nervous mixing pastries and clothing.
09:11I mean, especially coming from a costume designer, I could turn that and make it really scary.
09:17But obviously you're gonna work on some cake.
09:19You're gonna make cake today.
09:20I'm racking my brain on inspiration.
09:23What do I do next?
09:25How do I get back in at least to the top three?
09:28How do I actually win a challenge?
09:30But honestly, I'm not that inspired by cakes.
09:35That's not my style is to do cake-like things.
09:38That looks good.
09:39Don't lie to me.
09:40I don't know what I want to do.
09:50This week is the Project Runway HP challenge where we get to use the new HP Rove to design a custom print.
09:58But there is a twist this season.
09:59We get to be inspired by a young innovator.
10:02He gave me all these like really cool pictures like the people he helped.
10:05And then like you can get your money back that you give them and you can give it to someone else.
10:08So we're back at the work room and we're all basically doing show and tell.
10:12She's not what I expected, a typical Miss America.
10:16And I brought home a cake.
10:18But it melted because it's 95 degrees outside.
10:23Welcome back everyone.
10:24There is an HP Envy Rove at each of your workstations.
10:28It is on this that you will be creating your textile design.
10:32So after you create your textile design, it's going to dynamics to be produced.
10:37All right, I will be back in an hour.
10:40Design, design, design.
10:41Oh my God, I need this when I get home.
10:51I don't really have a complete direction I'm going.
10:54I think at this point my real influence is the chocolate lacing on top of the cake.
11:00Just the shape of like the little tiny delicate ribbons creating a lattice work.
11:04That's really burned in my head at the moment.
11:07I'm trying to make tiny little dots.
11:10I want to take binary code and use that to create a floral pattern so that from far away it just looks like a normal floral print.
11:19But that close up, you look at it and it's binary code.
11:24I am sketching out the sign for I love you and sign language, which is this.
11:30It's relating back to how loving Nana is.
11:34It's abstract enough that people don't know it's any I love you, but it still has that integrated into the print.
11:43I used rectangles to emulate bricks.
11:48The part of the bricks that I liked the most was whitewashed.
11:52So I tried to emulate that and then add some graphic lines along it.
11:59The line of Nigel running through the city on his bicycle has dispersed down into mostly horizontal and vertical lines.
12:08I think the energy's there. I'm using this bright pop of blue color to sort of represent Nigel's freedom energy through the city.
12:17And I think it's going to be great.
12:20Let's head off to Mood, everyone.
12:28All right, designers, your suggested spending at Mood is $100 in your GoBank debit card.
12:33So you have 30 minutes to shop, and your time starts right now.
12:38Okay.
12:39All right.
12:42I'm going to cut all these crazy shapes and just replace them, and the garment's going to be quite fitted.
12:47Designers, five minutes. Five minutes, everyone.
12:51I kind of like this tube stuff.
12:53Thanks, Mood. You are awesome.
12:57I'm breaking the bank today.
12:59Thank you, Mood.
13:00Thank you so much. Thank you, thank you.
13:02Ooh, it's here, you guys.
13:09Waking up this morning, I can't wait to get into the workroom and see the textile that I designed.
13:17Oh my gosh, they're all wrapped up like presents.
13:20Wow.
13:22It actually looks a million times better than I thought it would.
13:24Mine does, too.
13:25I'm scared.
13:26Fabulous.
13:32I'm scared.
13:33I'm scared.
13:34I'm scared.
13:35I'm scared.
13:36I'm scared.
13:37I'm scared.
13:38I'm scared.
13:39How is everyone?
13:40Hi.
13:41Hi, Tim.
13:42Gee, that's enthusiastic.
13:43All right, well, I'm going to check in with each of you and find out what's going on.
13:47Don, I'm crazy about this print.
13:52Who is your muse?
13:53I have Promo.
13:54One of the things that we talked about, which was a big part of my inspiration, was connectivity
13:58between people across the world.
14:00So I started playing around with the idea of lines and lines interconnecting.
14:04Where I'm hung up with this is, I just don't know if it's like too much color.
14:10But I have to tell you, now that I see it with the sleeves, I don't want to see it without
14:14them.
14:15Okay.
14:16All right.
14:17Thank you, John.
14:18Thanks, Tim.
14:19How are you, Brayden?
14:20I'm doing pretty well.
14:21Oh, this is beautiful.
14:22So where are you using it?
14:24This is this.
14:25Oh, the whole bodice.
14:26Yes.
14:27And then I'm going to cut the skirt cross grain.
14:31I am so perplexed by this.
14:33I don't have the adequate words to express it.
14:35Okay.
14:36I'm just perplexed.
14:37I don't get it.
14:38All right.
14:39I'm going to leave you alone.
14:40All right.
14:41Okay.
14:42Thank you, Brayden.
14:44Kate, how are you?
14:45I'm doing okay, Tim.
14:46Yeah.
14:47This is what I originally designed.
14:48And it was kind of like a dress that looked like it had a blouse underneath it.
14:53So I'm inserting these gussets that I'm doing like a starburst pleating on.
14:59Okay.
15:00Just move forward.
15:01Thank you so much.
15:02Thank you, Kate.
15:03Hi, Justin.
15:04How are you?
15:05Good.
15:06How are you?
15:07I'm doing well.
15:08This is a sign for I love you.
15:10That's what you see in the print.
15:12It looks beautiful.
15:13I would like to make a dress.
15:14So the print will be here?
15:15Yes, in the bodice.
15:16And is it in the back?
15:18In the back is...
15:19Oh, I see.
15:20I get rid of that straight line again.
15:23That one.
15:24Oh, yeah.
15:25This will be gone.
15:26Just keep the curves going.
15:27Helen, how are you?
15:28I'm awful.
15:29And yourself?
15:30What's the matter?
15:31I mean, like, I had such a good time with Ryan.
15:33Like, my parents are both fine artists.
15:34Like, I grew up around that.
15:36But I just don't do prints.
15:39And this is like, you know...
15:40Why is this intimidating you so much?
15:42Because it is a print?
15:43I don't work with prints.
15:44I don't like...
15:45I'm like freaking out.
15:46I don't know what to do.
15:47You're obsessing.
15:48Stop it.
15:49The way I am.
15:50You need to look at this print according to where you have the seams.
15:55Mm-hmm.
15:56A challenge has come along where you're not in your comfort zone.
16:00And that happens.
16:01Mm-hmm.
16:02But you have to make it work.
16:03How's Alexandria?
16:04Good.
16:05How are you?
16:06Good.
16:07So I am making an A-line mini skirt.
16:09And...
16:10That's interesting.
16:11That's a good thing, right?
16:12Yeah, it's a good thing.
16:13And the top, I'm having a hard time draping it.
16:14But option two was to take this piece of leather and do a cool little vest with it, which makes it a little stronger.
16:22I like it, but then I'm a little nervous too about it.
16:25Either all the work goes into the vest or all the work goes into this top.
16:29Right.
16:30You can't go into both.
16:31All right.
16:33I don't need to ask you who your muse was.
16:36I remember the cake sitting here.
16:37So talk to me about what you're doing.
16:39So I was inspired by that.
16:40If you remember on the top, there was all that delicate chocolate lattice work.
16:43So I brought that delicate kind of lattice work into the print and created kind of a fan.
16:48Since I'm bringing some of the white in, I'm kind of doing a little futuristic kind of silhouette.
16:54It's looking very clerical.
16:56Which I kind of don't mind.
16:58All right, Alexander.
17:00Thank you very much.
17:01Well, this was some workroom session, everyone.
17:05All right, everyone.
17:06I'll see you in the morning.
17:07I'm going to be like a worried dad all night.
17:10Thank you so much, Tim.
17:12All right.
17:13I think I just scrapped the maxi skirt.
17:16Nice.
17:17What are you doing now?
17:18Knit dress.
17:19I found this black stretchy tube, and this could be a really, really cool dress.
17:25Ta-da.
17:26Done.
17:27You win the show.
17:28Hello.
17:29Hi.
17:30Good to see you.
17:31Oh, it fits well, huh?
17:32Yeah.
17:33Cute.
17:34Adjust the waistline a little bit.
17:35I'm nervous because on the Belk challenge, even though I was in the top, the waistline was
17:49incorrect.
17:50So I've definitely accounted for this.
17:52I really want to make sure this sits right on her.
17:55It's fine.
17:56Have a good night's sleep.
18:01I just hate prints, Tom.
18:02Stronger than this.
18:04Get it together.
18:05Get it together.
18:06It's a difficult color and everything I get, but it's a good print.
18:09Thanks.
18:10Stop freaking out.
18:11I don't know why you're freaking out.
18:12I don't know.
18:13I just don't want to go home.
18:14I'm kind of freaking out.
18:15I think she had, like, one of the easiest inspirations, too.
18:19I mean, it's an artist.
18:20I just think that she'll just cry, and then they'll feel sorry for her, and regardless
18:25of it being a complete garment or good, they'll let her stay because she cried.
18:30Helen sucks everyone's time to help her go through her thought process.
18:35She needs her hand held, and it's apparent because it's been every single challenge.
18:49Man, overnight does wonders when you're not staring at me.
18:52I know.
18:53Seriously.
18:54I really feel like the judges will be expecting a really great look from me because I've successfully
19:01used prints throughout the competition so far.
19:03Wow.
19:04Good.
19:05I've got one thing off my long checklist.
19:07After much deliberation, I decided to make a crop top and a really cute full-length
19:12skirt.
19:13I'm just going to pull it together and make it work.
19:16Good morning, designers.
19:18Good morning.
19:19Hi, Tim.
19:20Hello.
19:21All right, everyone.
19:22You will have two hours to send your models to the L'Oreal Paris hair and makeup rooms.
19:26Use the Belk accessory wall very thoughtfully.
19:29I will be back later to collect you for the runway.
19:33Work hard, everyone.
19:35Thank you, Tim.
19:42Okay, let's try this on you real quick.
19:45So when you walk, it opens.
19:47Oh my gosh.
19:48I love it.
19:49Like that.
19:50And then when you get to the end, turn so the back is out.
19:52I'm a little concerned with Alexander's cross only because it's so white in comparison to
19:58his chocolate fabric.
20:00It's bold, but then I like bold.
20:01So maybe like a center part and just like nice and clean back and we can do.
20:12Yeah, let's do that.
20:13Can you pass me the root lifting spray or the root just so it's lifted up.
20:18This is the gown that she's wearing.
20:19I was hoping to have her hair even more slick and straight.
20:23That's what I'm thinking too.
20:24I'm thinking maybe like a really great like cat eye but underneath three white dots in the
20:32corner.
20:33Velvet fuchsia.
20:34I'm really going to set her off.
20:35Pretty.
20:36I do want to nod to the future.
20:37So maybe a strong wing tip kind of eye and then a defined brow and just a clean face and
20:43a nude lip.
20:44I'm loving it.
20:45I'm loving you.
20:47Designers in 10 minutes you and your models and I are going down to the runway.
20:54Designers can I have your attention for one moment before we go down to the runway.

21:10They'll be sitting with you.
21:11Yeah.
21:12So you and your models and I are going down to the runway right now.
21:16Right now I'm trying to think like who's going to be in the top.
21:19Who's going to be in the bottom.
21:20Who's going to be safe.
21:21And I'm kind of on the edge about everyone.
21:23I have no idea if it really be anyone's game.
21:26Dom are you the last?
21:27No.
21:28Helen.
21:29No wait no.

23:16Alright let's say hello to our judges.
23:20First we have acclaimed fashion designer Zach Posen.
23:23Hello designers.
23:25Hi Zach.
23:26Creative director for Marie Claire magazine Nina Garcia.
23:29Hi everyone.
23:31And fashion designer Peter Somm.
23:33Welcome.
23:34Hi everyone.
23:35Hi.
23:36In this season we're very excited to welcome Tim Gunn to the runway show.
23:40Alright let's start the show.
23:42I'm so happy that Nigel could come to see the runway show.
23:54He really is amazing and I'm glad that he gets to see what his inspiration has done for me.
24:00I like that a lot.
24:01Perfect.
24:02She looks very FOS and this garment shows my fascination with inventing new patterns to create a garment like this.
24:19Over all I am very pleased with this look.
24:34This outfit turned out almost exactly the way I envisioned it.
24:37It has this movement to it.
24:43Cameron looks adorable.
24:45I'm like really excited.
24:47I like the color.
24:48Thanks.
24:59G looks stunning.
25:00The white pops.
25:01The dark chocolates.
25:02Just so rich to me.
25:04I incorporated the whole lattice work from the really delicate chocolate ribbons on top.
25:17I feel pretty good about it.
25:22It looks so chic.
25:25She is popping with that graphic print and I'm just pleased.
25:34Good job.
25:35Sweet.
25:42I feel confident with this garment.
25:44It's cool.
25:45It's well made.
26:03I used so much of the print and it's front and center and it's so modern but badass at the same time.
26:08I just, I really love it.
26:09I would totally wear this look.
26:19It's really cool.
26:20Hell yeah.
26:21Good job.
26:22Oh my God.
26:23капieh
26:43scores. One of you will be named the winner, and one or more of you will be out.
27:00Dom, tell us about your print and your look.
27:03Well, my inspirational muse was Promo, who founded a website called Kiva.
27:08It allows entrepreneurs from around the globe to crowdsource money as a small loan to help their business.
27:15And I really loved that the Internet was bringing people together as opposed to apart.
27:21So I played around with the ideas of interconnecting lines,
27:24and I just did a really basic, simple, bold graphic print that was me.
27:29This dress is runway ready.
27:32I think you did an amazing job.
27:34This is a challenge that was made for you because you love color.
27:40You love prints.
27:42I love the hair, the makeup, the three little dots underneath the eye.
27:47I think there's something very tribal about it, but it feels very current, and I love your choice of colors.
27:54I love this. There is a global aspect to this, but it doesn't feel costumey.
27:59So there's just this general sense of sort of sophistication about it.
28:03So I think it's a job well done.
28:06Justin, tell us about your print and your look.
28:08For my print, my inspiration is Nana, Miss Yese.
28:12And one of the things that I noticed about her is her love for life and love for people.
28:18So I wanted to incorporate sign language, I love you.
28:23I love that you put that into your print.
28:25But for me, that was about it, what I liked in your look.
28:29To me, it looks like you spent all your time on the corset part of the dress, you know,
28:33and then you kind of ran out of time and you just slapped this piece of fabric onto the bottom.
28:38Okay.
28:39I wish you would have made this a shorter dress.
28:42Okay.
28:43Right now, from the waist up, she looks fabulous and sexy.
28:47From the waist down, it's just very drab.
28:51It really does look like the bottom half of the dress is super depressed.
28:56Unfortunately, I had a very hard time with it as well.
28:59And I really wish the print had continued onto the dress,
29:03because there's nothing more beautiful than seeing a print dance.
29:06Brayden, tell us about your print and your look.
29:09My print was inspired by Nigel Sylvester, a world-recognized BMX rider.
29:16And he said he had a dream one time of a bird's eye view of the city.
29:20And the black and white is sort of the black and white of New York.
29:24And the blue electric lines running through are his bicycle zipping all over the city.
29:30I like your print a lot.
29:31Thanks.
29:32I think it is very modern.
29:34I can see the BMX cool street bomber jacket over this stretchy dress,
29:41which is also not a toss-away dress.
29:43Like, this is a cool dress.
29:45Thanks.
29:46This is a sexy dress.
29:47It's actually two pieces.
29:48This is removable.
29:49Great.
29:50I mean...
29:51Neck.
29:52That is awesome.
29:53And you can wear the dress up as a tank or up the shoulder.
29:56Very hot.
29:58The dress is sick.
29:59I love that you took an iconic piece, like a bomber jacket,
30:03and put your own twist on it.
30:05She's hot.
30:06There is something very sporty chic about this outfit.
30:11I think it's fabulous.
30:13I adore the print.
30:14I see the flashing lights.
30:16I see the movement in it.
30:17I think this is your best work you've had all season.
30:20Thank you so much.
30:21Alexander.
30:22Well, my muse was Thiago Silva, an executive pastry chef.
30:26And we got to make cakes.
30:28Even though I'm super gay, I've never decorated a cake.
30:30But basically, I just did a dolmen sleeve, and I wanted to break up patterns with the white
30:35to bring in some of that crisp and fresh from the cake.
30:38Cake.
30:39When I think about cake and the possibilities about cake, you know, you can go wild on the colors.
30:46I do feel that the print that you designed is not really showing me cake.
30:50I think the cut of the dress is very good.
30:52But there's nothing sweet and sexy about how it works with the white and the print.
30:57I think it's almost like two different recipes came together because the silhouette is nice, but the fabric just feels very stiff.
31:06I kind of like the print.
31:08Those squares almost looks like a patchwork and could have made for a fabulous design.
31:15However, I think that she's so covered that it's almost like when you overindulge in chocolate cake.
31:24There's something very serious about it when it should have been light.
31:28Okay.
31:29Helen, tell us about your print and your look.
31:31My muse was an artist.
31:33He uses a large-format canvas on a high-resolution printer and made me think,
31:38all right, I want to do something that's kind of layered and just make a really cool graphic print that kind of, you know, spoke for myself,
31:46but was still, still had elements of the texture he creates with his work.
31:51I do actually like this print.
31:53You know, for me, it looks a little patriotic.
31:55I like a little bit of the midriff.
31:57It's sexy, but not slutty.
31:59Still sophisticated.
32:00I think it's pretty clear when it came down the runway that it was in one and you split it.
32:05Yeah.
32:06But I sort of think that made it.
32:07I think if it had been just one piece, it would have been a little dull.
32:11But I think overall it's cool.
32:13Yes.
32:14This was one of my favorite, too.
32:16I agree.
32:17You know, I think the choice of that ecru color that you pick to contrast with the white,
32:23it looks vintage, but it could be very modern.
32:26It's that juxtaposition that I found very interesting.
32:30Kate, tell us about your print and your look.
32:32For my inspiration, I got to work with Maria, who is a 17-year-old app designer.
32:37It's a program that reaches out to young women and helps them kind of infiltrate a male-dominated industry.
32:43So I have these flowers and they connect all these different little dots, which are bits of information that are being transferred,
32:51kind of like the codes in a computer.
32:53I like the way it turned out.
32:55Oh, God.
32:56I am overwhelmed by the pleats.
33:00How many did you do?
33:01One, two?
33:02There's five panels.
33:03That's five panels too many.
33:05It's almost like if I asked this girl to turn around, she would spin out of here.
33:10I felt like, based on your explanation, you had a real golden opportunity to give us a print that felt strong.
33:18But I didn't even notice the print because of, well, the pleats.
33:23She looks like she fell into a Kleenex box.
33:25There's so much wrong with this outfit.
33:27I don't find the blue masculine at all.
33:30It's very baby blue.
33:32Can you turn?
33:34The fabrication and the choice shows every flaw.
33:38Okay, we've heard what you had to say.
33:40We're going to take a closer look at the clothes, then have a little chat.
33:44One of you will be the winner of this challenge, and one or more of you will be out.
33:50Now you can leave the runway.
33:51Hi, Tim.
33:52Hi, Heidi.
33:53Hello, ladies.
33:54I love this.
33:55I mean, he is a very thoughtful designer.
34:11And it's just how a girl should look right now.
34:13His choice of fabrications were smart.
34:15He picked a stretchy jersey that's going to fit well that has a texture in it.
34:20Did a great job.
34:21Don't we all want to have this dress?
34:23That dress is sick.
34:24I mean, it really is.
34:25We want it.
34:26It's nicely finished.
34:27He knew what to use.
34:28He knows what he's doing.
34:29This is also a great look.
34:30There's real thought behind this.
34:32She really had her talent shine here as a print designer with colors.
34:37This is really the challenge Taylor made for her.
34:41And she stepped up to the plate.
34:44The ivory and the white could really not have worked, and it really did work here.
34:48Because a lot of the time, it doesn't.
34:49The ivory and white really helped her.
34:51It almost looks like it's faded, like it's something old.
34:55It feels like 1930s pin-up in a modern way.
35:00It was clever that she cut this and that she made.
35:03I think that's what almost makes it, in a way, that juxtaposition.
35:06Yeah.
35:08Kate, I mean, what happened here?
35:11Looking at the print as an uncut piece of yardage, Kate was quite wise to cut it up.
35:18I mean, it just looks crazy.
35:21Look at the back.
35:22Here it's higher.
35:23I mean, it just explodes out of nowhere.
35:25It's not about the print here.
35:27And I think that's unfortunate.
35:33Yeah, Peter, you said it perfectly when you said that it looked like a pageant dress.
35:37I felt like it looked like a cheap pageant dress in Miami.
35:40I think it's very clever to use that sign as the print.
35:45I just think he should have stayed with that fabric and just gone short.
35:49I agree.
35:50Alexander owns full responsibility for this entire outcome and he's very proud of it.
35:56I see tape.
35:58White tape stuck on.
35:59Yes.
36:00Oh, yes.
36:01I see white tape.
36:02I mean, you have to plaster it all over.
36:04It's the first thing I see is the cross.
36:06The first thing.
36:07I don't see the print.
36:08I see the cross.
36:09Where's the scissor?
36:10Yeah.
36:11Thank you, Tim.
36:15Thank you, Tim.
36:16Thank you very much.
36:17The six of you had the highest and the lowest scores.
36:27One of you will be named the winner.
36:29And one or more of you will be out.
36:42The six of you had the highest and the lowest scores.
36:45One of you will be named the winner.
36:48And one or more of you will be out.
36:51Dom, you are the winner of this challenge.
37:01Your print was vibrant and thoughtful.
37:04And your dress was super flattering.
37:07Congratulations.
37:08You're in.
37:09You can leave the runway.
37:11I'm so, so happy I earned it.
37:17Finally.
37:18Yes.
37:22Brayden, amazing job.
37:24You're in.
37:25You can leave the runway.
37:26Thanks very much.
37:27See you.
37:30Helen, you're in.
37:31You can leave the runway.
37:45Alexander.
37:46I'm sorry, you're out.
37:49Okay.
37:54Auf Wiedersehen.
37:56Good luck to you.
37:57Thank you, everyone.
38:00I think I'm a pretty good designer.
38:02I'm definitely out of the box.
38:03But now that I'm out, I guess I shouldn't mix religion and cake.
38:07Except for a wedding.
38:08I'm out.
38:09No.
38:10No.
38:11That sucks.
38:12What?
38:13Are you really out?
38:14Yes.
38:15Just from the critiques they gave Kate and Justin, I thought I was like, okay, I'm in the bottom,
38:19but I'll be safe.
38:24Justin.
38:25You're in.
38:26You can leave the runway.
38:28Congrats.
38:29You're safe.
38:30I really thought I was going home.
38:45Kate.
38:46I'm sorry you're out.
38:48We loved having you here again.
38:50I loved being here again.
38:51I'm so sorry to have let you guys down today.
38:52I'm sorry that I have to say of Wiedersehen for the second time.
38:54Wiedersehen, Kate.
38:55Good luck to you.

39:50because I knew exactly what they were going to do.
39:55I am so devastated.
39:57Kate and I have become so close.
39:58Like, I love her. I love her to death.
40:00I mean, I was really hoping that she would come to Fashion Week with me
40:03and it's really heart-wrenching.
40:06Thank you for making me feel included
40:08because I had a lot of fun.
40:14Sorry.
40:15If I've learned anything from Project Runway,
40:19it's that you need to know who you are as a designer and stand by it.
40:25Like, to do this twice.
40:27I am mildly sadistic, so...
40:31Mia, I have to tell you, I am quite shocked by this outcome.
40:36Yeah. It's hard.
40:39For all of us, it is.
40:43So, Alexander, Kate, I have to send you to the work.
40:46Come on, buddy. Let's go.
40:49I miss you, guys.
40:52It was so nice to meet you.
40:53Oh, my God. Okay, please.
40:56Thank you so much, Jeremy.
40:59Bye, Jeremy. Thank you.
41:01Let's go.
41:02We're bonded for life now.
41:03Yeah.
41:04I would have loved to have won.
41:07I mean, I can't change it.
41:08I can't control it.
41:10I mean, of course, you know, losing sucks,
41:13but I made it pretty damn far.
41:17If I can say one thing,
41:19it's that it's worth it
41:22because, I mean, this experience,
41:26it's amazing.
41:33Next time on Project Runway.
41:35This challenge determines who among you
41:37will move forward to New York Fashion Week.
41:39I know a few people are not equipped to handle this.
41:42Dawn.
41:43I'm freaking out on that breakdown.
41:46I'm going crazy.
41:47I don't want to go home.
41:49Time to.
41:50It's the last runway day.
41:51Anyone could be out.
41:52Whoa.
41:53What's that?
41:54Oh, something's up.
41:57This was one of the best runway shows.
42:00I'm blown away.
42:01I'm really proud of you.
42:03The judges will have a very tough decision to make today.
42:05I just really want this so bad.
42:07I'm so bad.
42:13I'm so bad.
42:18I'm so bad.
42:27I'm so bad.
42:31I'm so bad.
42:37Bye.
42:39Bye.
42:40Bye.
