00:00that? Is the suspect unwilling? We don't have the specifics as to who else might be in that
00:10vehicle. Is there somebody in the vehicle who's there unwillingly as well? We've seen a couple
00:16before come out, and the couple kind of hugged when they got arrested because they, you know,
00:20kind of were either in this together. We've also seen situations where somebody was kind of
00:24held against their will in a pursuit. But I keep looking at the guy there, Marla, in the market.
00:29Yeah, I'm looking at him too. You know, I see a lot of cops there. I'm not so sure I want to be in
00:33the line of any kind of ending of this pursuit or any kind of line of fire, especially when we don't
00:39know the nature of this suspect. We don't know if they might try to, you know, try to make a run for
00:44it. We've seen that before. A lot of law enforcement, not a smart move. Right, and you see the yellow
00:49tape that's gone up there. Again, this is East 76th Street, and Naomi, as we're zooming in on this
00:56looks to be, okay, just trying to zoom in on the suspect vehicle there. You do see movement in
01:05the passenger side, and beyond that, we've seen the door open and close, and apparently during the
01:13pursuit, the, oh, here we go, door flung open with authority there.
01:19This person getting out. Are they getting out? I'm not so sure. Oh, you're right. So it makes me
01:28wonder, is this person toying with law enforcement? Is there some substance use here that might be
01:34affecting behavior? Is this a person who's been in, you look at the market there, they shut their
01:39doors. Uh-huh. Good. Let us lock up here. Not sure if they're closing for business or want to play it
01:44safe. But something's happening where this person is not getting out of the vehicle, and it could be
01:50somebody who's been to prison before, and they know where they're going to end up after tonight,
01:55and they're just trying to delay everything as long as they can. Again, I get back to, it could have to
02:01do with substance abuse. Mm-hmm. Could have to do with somebody just trying to prolong this as long as
02:06they can. And for police, time is on their side. If they can get pedestrians out of the way, people out,
02:12I mean, if I'm police, I'm saying, shut your door and go in and get out of any kind of line of fire
02:18or any other concern with suspects who seems to be not participating. We always hear that when we
02:24cover these pursuits. If you are near one, first of all, if you're in a vehicle to pull over and not
02:30try to be the hero because it could end up really bad for you. And then, of course, if you are in the
02:36neighborhood where you are living there, it's not a good idea to come out, especially when there's so many
02:42officers with guns drawn. You never know where bullets could fly. So we've seen this sort of
02:47behavior before with suspects, Christine, where they taunt officers, either with the vehicle,
02:54they do a cat and mouse, start and go sort of a thing. We've seen them seemingly as this person
02:59is doing, hey, I'll get out, right? I'll open the door. I'll make you think I'm going to get out.
03:05It looks like they are talking to law enforcement as well. We've seen that. Conversations go on back and
03:10forth, some negotiating perhaps back and forth for some time. So there's no telling how long this
03:18strategy for the suspects will go on. I just call it a strategy because you never know what's going
03:25on and if this is the passenger or the driver. This person is waving their arms and communicating in
03:35some fashion to law enforcement. I got to think there's somebody of command staff there or a
03:41sergeant who is able to deal with the negotiations of somebody who is not cooperating because by now
03:48we've covered so many pursuits. By now somebody would have gotten out of the vehicle with their
03:53hands up and, as you said, back up to the vehicle, etc., etc. But right now there is somebody who is
03:59clearly not communicating and they are gesturing from time to time. So I'm going to get back to
04:05my wonder if there's some substance abuse here perhaps or a past criminal history as we hear our
04:11experts say not their first time dealing with law enforcement. And then you think about whose
04:15vehicle this is. Yeah. You know, somebody watching this could be your stolen vehicle as you watch this
04:20play out on live TV. We don't know where it was stolen from. What we do know is that it was started,
04:26it began in South LA. And that's when LAPD got word of the stolen vehicle. So here we are now,
04:35almost 45 minutes into it, and it has come to a standstill. This is East 76th Street in Naomi
04:43in the Southgate area, right on a busy street, East 76th. And there is that market that, to your point,
04:51Christine, that door was open and lights were on and now you can't see the signage.
04:54Okay. Passenger door open again. Okay. But is the person going to get out? Remember there was a spit
05:01maneuver. Okay, white t-shirt there, obviously. So there is a bit of more communication right here
05:08with that door open. Of course, police want to see this person's hands. They want to make sure
05:12there's not a weapon there. Again, hard to tell, Marla, if there's another person. Oh, okay, see,
05:18not getting out, not cooperating. So hard to tell if there was a driver there as well.
05:22Yeah. If that is the driver or not. Yes. Oh, here we go. Look, again. Oh. I feel like I'm going to
05:28for it all over again. First time there's been standing, though, that's a good sign. Okay. That
05:32person is out of the vehicle. At least they're standing. You have to wonder if there's a canine
05:37there. That could be an issue, too, where they send in the canine. Is this person going to cooperate
05:42or not? Clearly, their behavior is very strange, very strange behavior. And at this point, once you're
05:48out of the vehicle, you are, with all of those officers and weapons drawn, you are to keep
05:54your back turned, hands up. And typically, protocol is you walk toward the officer backward. But
06:01now, okay, they're just telling this person to get down on the ground. And now, at this
06:06point, officers will approach, perhaps, before clearing the vehicle. They definitely need to
06:13clear the vehicle. And that usually, once someone is out of the vehicle, doesn't take too long. But
06:20that's just dependent on how many people might be inside this reportedly stolen SUV. They have to
06:26check the trunk. This side, this SUV, forgive me if it's not called the trunk. I'm drawing the back end
06:36of it, drawing a blank on the correct verbiage there. But you see officers moving in on the driver's
06:41side, Christine. You see that? Yeah. So it looks like we have, clearly, the end of this pursuit
06:46with one suspect. They're finally giving up there. But, okay, they are moving in there to arrest that
06:52suspect. So it looks like there's nobody else in the vehicle. Police obviously feel safe to approach
06:57that suspect in front of the vehicle. And it looks like this pursuit has come to an end.
07:01All right. So it looks like now that the suspect is out, we are hearing that that is the only person
07:10there in the vehicle that this has come to an end. No reports of any injuries. Again, this was in that,
07:18you can see that suspect being hauled away and will be taken to jail. So LAPD on this pursuit,
07:26latest one to wrap up here in the Southgate area. As far as we know, no injuries to report.
07:31We'll do our best to give you an update on LA Live news tonight. Moving on to some other news now.
07:37In San Bernardino County. We wanted to bring you the latest from Fox 11. Sometimes that's how these
07:43things go. They did bring the suspect into custody. It was a lengthy affair, though, to say the least.
07:49If we get any updates out of Los Angeles, we'll bring you any more information here on Live Now.
07:55Time right now, approaching 11.30 in the nation's capital. 8.30 out west. Time for us to hit a quick break.

10:40All right, let's move on to our regularly scheduled programming.
10:45That includes, of course, coverage of the executive branch, specifically the Justice Department.
10:50The DOJ today announcing the formation of a task force to look into unsubstantiated allegations by President Trump that former President Barack Obama and his aides ordered an investigation into the 2016 Trump campaign's connections to Russia to destroy Mr. Trump.
11:10We heard from Tulsi Gabbard earlier today at the White House press briefing.
11:14We also heard her give an interview to Fox News' Jesse Waters earlier today on primetime.
11:19This is a short interview.
11:21Let's listen in to what the DNI said.
11:22All right, Director, tell me the story about how you found this evidence.
11:27Well, as you know, Jesse, the integrity of our Democratic Republic, of our elections is of paramount importance to the American people.
11:37Knowing what had occurred previously, the things, this Russia hoax thing that was called a conspiracy, I wanted to get to the bottom of the truth of what actually happened here.
11:49This was obviously important to President Trump, but again, is an issue of importance to every single American in this country and the future of our country as a republic.
11:59So shortly after coming into this position as Director of National Intelligence, I formed a special team to investigate this issue.
12:07I got to tell you, it wasn't easy.
12:09There were a lot of deep state obstacles that exist still within the intelligence community.
12:15But ultimately, we had a whistleblower.
