00:00The Dodgers maintain a three and a half game lead to win the National League West, a division
00:05they have won 12 of the previous 13 MLB seasons.
00:10Here are the records right now and the odds dating back to bet MGM for where things stand
00:17right now around the National League West.
00:19Minus 2,000, still the price on the LA Dodgers.
00:22The Padres, second best record, three and a half games back, 13 to one.
00:26The Giants are riding a six game skid.
00:28They are 14 to one and now seven games back of LA Dodgers not playing great.
00:34Nobody really giving Los Angeles all that much of a chase.
00:39So Donnie, the question to you in this big picture conversation, are the Dodgers in any
00:43real danger of not winning the National League West for a 13th time in the last 14 years?
00:49I don't think so.
00:50And the odds are certainly reflecting that you have a three and a half game lead with two
00:53months and change left in the season and you're being priced at a minus 2000 price.
00:58And it's not as if it's the Chicago White Sox and the Colorado Rockies on your tail 15 games
01:03behind.
01:03It's like, oh, we got this clear.
01:04Like you have a pretty good Padres team here, a Giants team that's really struggling right
01:08now, but an Arizona Diamondbacks team that's talented as well.
01:11And also the Diamondbacks looking to possibly sell the Giants, even though they're three
01:15games above 500, they've lost six games in a row.
01:17So your de facto competition is coming from the Padres, which we did that, you know, at
01:21the all-star break, take a look.
01:23I really liked the Padres in the second half.
01:25I just want the Padres to make a move, get that pitching staff healthy.
01:28And I think they can tangle with the Dodgers, but also understanding this, which I've stated
01:32Ben, since day number one of the Major League Baseball season, don't judge the Los Angeles
01:36Dodgers where they're at in April, May, or June.
01:38Judge them after the trade deadline.
01:40And as I talked about, like teams like the Yankees and the Phillies right now, who's
01:44going to make that move that really puts that catapult into the final stretch of the Major
01:49League Baseball season?
01:51If the Dodgers had an 11-game lead right now, even as injured as they are technically in
01:55their lineup and the guys aren't playing that well, they'd probably just ride it out, get
01:58a bullpen arm and see what they can do.
02:00But the fact that the Dodgers are struggling right now, and we know endless pockets and endless
02:05talent in the minor league system, that might spur them to say, oh yeah, we really weren't
02:09looking now, let's go out and get Eugenio Suarez and the best pitcher and the best bullpen
02:13guy, and let's really start to sort of cave in the rest of the NL down the stretch.
02:17That's what I'm actually worried about.
02:18I do think the Padres will push them, but you see that price point at minus 2,000, how
02:22much can they actually push?
02:24And also, if the Dodgers are down to one and a half game lead over the next two weeks before
02:28the trade deadline, let's just say a week and a half, who do they pull the trigger on and
02:32then get healthy with and say, okay, our starting pitchers are coming back, Otani's now pitching
02:35five innings, Muncy's back in the lineup, and we added Eugenio Suarez.
02:39And another bat like Steven Kwanter, you know what, we were able to get class A away from
02:43the Guardians here just to throw in the back end of that bullpen, because the Dodgers can
02:47do that.
