00:00scotty at the scottish open heading into the week and and where uh his putting was you know kind of
00:06sitting heading into the open championship and the feeling between uh between phil and scotty was
00:11that that he putted well at the scottish open and typically he has not putted well on really slow
00:18greens these greens were velcro i'm telling you times that i thought golf balls were flying off
00:24the green on on 40 foot putts i'm like oh my gosh just needs to sit and then it would just hit
00:29just just velcro at the end of the putt molasses um they scotty felt that that was such a huge
00:38difference to be able to have the saw to feel like the feeling that he feels like he can almost push
00:43it a little bit more with that right hand and that how much that is uh giving him some confidence on
00:50the greens to feel like he doesn't have to hit putts so hard um it was funny he was he was laughing
00:55talking about the rider cup he's like that's you know these americans we come over here in the
01:00rider cup we narrow the fairways and we slow the green just greens down and it just pisses them off
01:04and uh and he's right you know we like wide fairways fast greens uh it's because what we grew up on but
01:11i thought that was all really great intel and uh and and it just sums up you know uh somebody like
01:18paulie who's a you know an incredible incredible player with with great analysis and uh just uh you
01:25know what what really that difference was this week and it the putter was was the difference we knew
01:31the ball striking was going to be there but we did not know is it did or were we going to see uh an
01:38above average putting performance and i don't think anybody was expecting this a a performance where he
01:44is the best putter in the field like that is like goodbye see you later i'll feed us in it's
01:52it's exactly what we've talked about on a number of occasions with scotty where given everything else
01:57that he has in his game if he puts well below average he's probably top 10 top five if he puts
02:04around average you know he's either going to win by a shot or end up in a playoff if he's the best
02:09putter in the field you can just forget about it and that is what we saw at fort rush this week i mean
02:13they're just no one even really scared the lead at all uh i think the point you make about the body
02:19clock and the club face awareness is a really interesting one because obviously injury is the
02:25one thing that is tough to control you know you don't know how and it's a big guy though he's a
02:30big guy and he's strong and he works out and that and we have that's a start right we haven't had
02:35really any huge issues with him other than i think the player's neck thing was was the biggest one we
02:40saw and he goes on to win that tournament uh i i do think but i do think the way he plays the game
02:46you know your note about the the grip trainer and the club face awareness and that sort of innate
02:51athleticism where scotty more so than maybe anybody else on tour to me feels like an athlete playing the
02:58game of golf and all the all the sort of body language and the things you see that look all over
03:03the place it's like okay freeze him at impact and what does he look like it's like the club face is
03:08perfect every single time and so i guess the hope that you have if you love the game of golf and you
03:13love greatness is that he can just he doesn't have any major issues that impact timing and musculature
03:19and all the things he can do because he's so skilled you know he's so disciplined you know with the grip
03:25and the training but also he's so he's so athletic that that could be the thing that slows him down
03:30long term especially when you factor in the body clock and the way the body ages
03:34so
03:35and i guess
03:36and i guess
