00:00Is this Ryder Cup talk, Smiley?
00:02Because I felt like that's what really ramped up after the Open Championship
00:07was starting to now look at the pieces that are on the board.
00:11Who's going to be there for the United States and for Keegan Bradley
00:14when we get to Bethpage?
00:16And now, two months flat, we're going to be getting there.
00:21Bryson is in.
00:22We've pretty much, no matter what happens with the points,
00:24it sounds like Keegan has already told Bryson and told everyone
00:27that Bryson's going to be on the team.
00:29But, Smiley, you have some mainstays that have not played very good golf
00:35over the last couple months, whether it's Colin Morikawa, Patrick Cantlay,
00:39et cetera, et cetera.
00:40And then you have some guys rising, got her up and get them down,
00:44and a few others who are playing incredible golf.
00:48This is going to be very interesting, Smiley, for the United States side
00:51here over the next few weeks.
00:53It sure is.
00:54And I think the biggest piece of information that kind of came out
00:57from the Open Championship was the press conference that Keegan Bradley had,
01:00just talking about the agreement that Luke Donald had with vice-captain
01:06potentially taking on the captain role if Keegan were to play.
01:10So just even more talks of confirmation that it's a realistic possibility
01:15that Keegan is potentially going to play this Ryder Cup.
01:20You know what?
01:21I'll tell you kind of how the schedule goes.
01:23So the picks are going to be made after the Tour Championship.
01:26But after the BMW, which is the week before the Tour Championship,
01:31there's going to be six automatic qualifiers.
01:33And at that point, Keegan Bradley will meet with six of the qualifiers,
01:40the automatic qualifiers in Atlanta.
01:43And most of the time, they go to dinner on Tuesday or Wednesday night,
01:46and everybody kind of has the floor to talk about who they either want on the team,
01:52who they want to advocate for, maybe players they don't want on the team.
01:56And that's kind of part of the process that the captain takes in,
01:59is just getting a sense from the guys who are already qualified to be on the team.
02:05And you have to imagine at that point,
02:07Keegan's going to have a pretty good conversation with all those guys.
02:10And most likely, I would imagine those six players would say,
02:14hey, we want you on this team, Keegan.
02:17And if that's the case, Keegan probably will most likely play.
02:22Yeah, you know, if you start kind of picking up the breadcrumbs here, Smiley,
02:27like it really feels like, I know they can't say it yet,
02:31but it kind of feels like he's going to be playing, like just from everything.
02:35Like, why would you go and say that this has already been talked about with Luke Donald,
02:39that he's going to let, whether it's Kiz or Woodland,
02:43one of these vice captains be able to run around on the course
02:45and be the communicator with the players while he's playing.
02:49You know, why would he be, you know, all the things that he has said.
02:54And let's get to the biggest thing of it all.
02:58He is without question one of the 12 best American golfers right now.
03:02It's not even, there's not even a doubt about it, Smiley.
03:05It's a bit of a tough situation for Keegan
03:08because you never know how often you're going to get this call, Mike,
03:12to be the Ryder Cup captain.
03:14And when that call comes in, and of course it's a chance of a lifetime,
03:18but also you're still in the, it's not past your prime of your playing career.
03:24You have to say yes.
03:26And he's kind of said coming into the year that,
03:28hey, if only way I play is if I qualify in the top six.
03:32Well, at this point, that's looking unrealistic
03:35unless he were to go win one of the playoff events.
03:37And even then, I'm not sure if it would go all the way to the top six.
03:40So, very interesting times ahead, and I'm definitely looking forward to following it.
03:45I probably have 12 possibilities on who could be on this team.
03:49That's like how crazy it could be.
