00:00Let's talk about, first of all, this Ryder Cup team.
00:04You know, Carver High's been talking about guys that have to, you know,
00:08up the ante a little bit that haven't been playing well.
00:11Morikawa, Cantlay, playing terrible over the last few months.
00:16Are they going to be able to have a kick-ass USA team,
00:19or are they going to have to depend on Keegan and Bryson
00:22to carry the day at Bethpage?
00:25Well, you know, Scott, he's obviously going to be there.
00:28Keegan and Bryson, yeah, you're right.
00:31After that, it gets a little muddy as far as, you know,
00:34you mentioned Morikawa, Cantlay.
00:36They have not been carrying their own weight as of late.
00:39They both missed the cut at the Open Championship.
00:42Patrick Reed was a guy from the live circuit that they thought had a shot.
00:45He missed the cut as well.
00:47And we know what kind of Ryder Cup player he's been.
00:50You know, I think Keegan's in kind of a tough spot here.
00:54Is there anybody, I don't think there's really anybody else
00:57on the American side from the live circuit that qualifies?
01:01Chris Goddorup is now making a name for himself.
01:04But I worry about that, Scott.
01:05Now, we've got some time left here, okay?
01:08We've got the 3M Open in Minnesota this week.
01:10Then we go to the Wyndham.
01:12Then you have the FedEx Cup playoffs.
01:14So Goddorup has some time to kind of, you know,
01:17prove himself a little bit more.
01:19But I think if you throw this guy into the Ryder Cup tomorrow,
01:22no, he's too green for that at this point.
01:25He's got to get a little bit of scar tissue and some experience.
01:28Or I think that stage may be a little too much on his nerves.
01:33I mean, the eight days when he made like $2.6 million,
01:37he probably doesn't know whether he's coming or going right now.
01:40But he had a hell of a trip over there.
01:42Oh, man.
01:44I mean, what a cash out for the young kid in a young career.
01:49You know, he just won for the first time on the PGA Tour last year
01:52at an alternate event, the Myrtle Beach Classic.
01:55You know, when they play these signature events
01:56and everybody else goes and plays another one,
01:59that was his first PGA Tour win.
02:01And then he wins the Scottish and holds off Rory McIlroy
02:04and then finishes third at the British.
02:07The guy is just having a surge in his career all of a sudden.
02:11And the Ryder Cup talk, I believe, is justified.
02:13He absolutely bangs the ball.
02:15One of the biggest hitters in the world.
02:17But again, you know, to go from one very nice PGA Tour win
02:23to one very nice major finish to the Ryder Cup is a very big jump.
02:28So I want to see this guy continue to play well
02:31for the next six weeks or so before I believe he is
02:35in that conversation for a captain's pick on the team.
02:38So do you think Ricky's earned his way into the FedEx
02:42with the way he's played over the last couple of months?
02:45And again, at the Open, I thought he played real solid golf.
02:49Do you think he'll make it into the playoff?
02:51It's a great question.
02:53I love Ricky and I'd love to see him make it,
02:56but I don't want to get too excited about it, Scott,
02:58because I was talking to some people over the weekend.
03:01In fact, I almost drafted Ricky Fowler.
03:03We had a British Open draft with a bunch of guys out here in Las Vegas.
03:07And I thought about taking Ricky, and it would have been a good pick.
03:10He finished 14th, a top 20 finish.
03:12But you know what?
03:13He's always been a very good British Open player.
03:16He's always been a great wind player.
03:18Played at Oklahoma State in college.
03:21Grew up in Temecula, California, where it gets windy.
03:24He is a very, very good wind player.
03:26So it's no surprise that he once again played well
03:28at the Open Championship.
03:30But again, I don't know if that's a flash in the pan
03:33or if this is going to continue.
