00:00any other. I went to work like any normal day. I was met by a protest and a wall of ice agents.
00:15I got out of my car. I let them know that I was a U.S. citizen, that I work at the glass house
00:23that they raided, and I'm just there to go to work. I wasn't there to protest. I wasn't there
00:29to fight them. I was just trying to go to work. They didn't care what I had to say.
00:37So I got back in my vehicle, and they followed me to my vehicle. They surrounded my car. They
00:46started beating on my windows. All the agents gave me conflicting orders. Not one of them was in charge
00:53or could just take charge of the entire situation. All their statements conflicted each
01:01other. Some telling me to get out my car. Some telling me to pull over to the side. Some telling
01:06me to reverse. They were just confusing. And then while all that's happening, I have agents banging
01:14on my driver's side and my passenger side window trying to open my door and get me out of the car,
01:21all while everyone else is yelling different things. They eventually break my driver's side
01:27window. Immediately after breaking my window, another agent sticks his arm through and sprays
01:34me with OC in the face. And they continue to drag me out of the car, throw me to the ground.
01:40Multiple officers, takes multiple officers to detain me for some reason, even though I have OC in my
01:46face and I can't breathe. My hand's already behind my back. I have an agent kneeling on my back and
01:53another agent kneeling on my neck. All I'm telling them I can't breathe because of the OC in my face
01:57and the tear gas in my lungs. They didn't care to listen. And they still abuse their power.
02:06George, so how many of these ICE agents would you say were there around your car? How many
02:13took you into custody? Give us a ballpark number if you could.
02:18The amount of agents that probably surrounded my car, I'd say like seven. Seven or eight agents
02:24surrounding my car, all yelling at me to do different things. All yelling at me to do different
02:31things. And one of the conversations in this entire story have been what these ICE agents,
02:36when they conduct some of these raids, what they're wearing. Did you see their faces or were their faces
02:40covered? All their faces were covered. So let's talk about you're on your way to work and let's
02:48talk about the type of work you do. You work for a third party contractor as a security guard for this
02:53marijuana grow operation. So you're on your way to work. What's the first thing you see? When do you
03:00know that this day at work is going to be different? I know this day. I realized that when I had to make
03:10my way through a bunch of protesters standing in the street, vehicles jammed up back to back all
03:20throughout the road. And I see helicopters in the sky and just a crowd of people.
03:28So, so George, you do security for the farm. Did you get a heads up that all these protesters were
03:33there? I did not get a heads up. I kind of just showed up like any other day, not expecting what
03:40was going on. All right. Let's talk about your detention now. You were then taken to the Metropolitan
03:45Detention Center in downtown Los Angeles. You were held for three days without being charged or being
03:51able to contact a lawyer or your family. Tell us about those three days. Were you in a cell? Were
03:57there people in a cell with you? What accommodations did they provide you? Did you get to speak with
04:03anyone while you were there? Did they answer those questions you had? They didn't answer any questions
04:10that I had. They couldn't tell me. They didn't let me speak to a lawyer. They didn't let me shower.
04:17They didn't let me make a phone call to family, to anyone. They just fingerprinted us, took our
04:25picture and threw us in a cell. That Thursday night, I was in a cell with one other person,
04:32the professor who got arrested that day as well. We were in a cell together that first night.
04:37Friday morning, I went on to suicide watch. And from Friday morning to the point where I was released,
04:48I was on suicide watch by myself. So the people who were administering your detention,
04:55they put you on suicide watch? Why? Yes. After the talk I had with the psych evaluator or whatever,
05:03they thought it was best to put me on suicide watch. Do you have a lawyer now?
05:10I'm currently in the process of getting a lawyer. Can you describe a little more fully,
05:14though, your accommodations, who you spoke with, what the schedule was like? What time frame was
05:23this? Was this over a course of a weekend? Yes, it was over the course of Friday through Sunday.
05:28Okay. So they did, I didn't take form. They asked us if we're American. They asked us if we're
05:38citizens. I let it be known that I was a citizen, that I served in the military. They didn't change
05:44anything. They still threw me in a cell. I was, they didn't let me shower. So the entire time I was in
05:52there, I was burning from the OC spray on the tear gas, and they didn't care. And I was just on
05:58suicide watch by myself the entire time. They never turned off the lights. The lights stay on 24-7.
06:03Yeah. You presented, you presented identifications showing that you were a U.S. citizen. They didn't
06:09bat an eye at that? They didn't even allow me to show identification. They asked for my social security
06:16number. They asked, that's the only thing they asked for, is like my social on a piece of paper
06:22and what I filled out. So you were trying to identify yourself multiple times here, your name,
06:29where you were born, your social security number, to no avail? No, no one cared that I was a citizen.
06:37You know, I want to talk though about your military service. You're an army veteran. Help us make sense.
06:42What was your time like there in the service? And did you say that to those arresting you?
06:48Yes. I let it be known that I was a veteran. I mean, I have it on my license plate. It says
06:56disabled veteran. I have it on my, a sticker on my window that says Iraq combat veteran.
07:02My time in the military was good. I was in the infantry. I went to Fort Benning,
07:07a basic training from there. I was stationed at Fort Wainwright, Alaska. I deployed to Iraq from 2019
07:16to 2020. And after that, I was stationed at Fort Hood. After Fort Hood, my contract ended and I got
07:24out of the military. It was an honorable discharge. I didn't do anything wrong. I got out armly.
07:29I served my country. And thank you for that service here. So let's go back.
07:34When you were released, what happened there? Did they just say, thanks, goodbye? Or what? Do you
07:40have to return? Were you charged with anything? So Sunday comes around, an officer comes up to my
07:46cell and says, I'm no longer on suicide watch, that I'm being released. And that was the end of that.
07:55A couple hours later, someone finally comes up and gets me and escorts me downstairs.
08:00They make me sign for the belongings that they took, which was my phone, my watch,
08:06and like my piercings. They made me sign for that. They told me that I wasn't charged with
08:12anything and that I was free to go. I asked, so I kind of asked out loud. So I was basically
08:21locked up in here, missed my daughter's birthday for no reason. And I was met with the loudest silence.
08:29So DHS Assistant Secretary, Tricia McLaughlin, she's a spokesperson for the department,
08:34said the department is reviewing the case for potential charges. Has anyone contacted you from
08:40ICE, DHS, Los Angeles at the Metropolitan Detention Facility? No one?
08:48No one has contacted me. From when they released me, they said that they dropped all the charges on me
08:54and that there was nothing to charge me with. So them investigating, I would like to know what
08:59they're investigating, because from what they told me is that all the charges were dropped and that
09:03they had nothing against me. All right. You sent over this statement. You alluded to a lot already.
09:08I just want to read it here. You said this.
09:10I clearly identified myself as a U.S. citizen and an employee of the farm. Yet federal agents ignored
09:17me, yelled conflicting orders, and then violently detained me. I was held in custody for three days
09:22without any charges, without a phone call, and without access to legal help. I was never told why
09:27I was arrested. I never received care to clean myself. Despite being covered in tear gas and OC spray,
09:33I'm calling for a full investigation into the actions of ICE and other agencies involved in
09:39this operation. I want the agents who ignored protocol and used force against me to be held
09:44accountable. And I want the public to know the truth. This raid didn't just target immigrants.
09:48It hurt Americans, too. I will not stay silent. I serve this country. And now I'm demanding it.
09:54Do right by me. I have to ask. I asked if you had a lawyer, because I was wondering whether or not
10:00there were going to be any, you know, future pending civil litigation, you know, against these
10:06federal authorities, you know, against your employer. Have you been back to work?
10:09I have not been back to work yet. I am currently on suspension, and I cannot go back to work until
10:16I could prove that all the charges were against me were dropped.
10:21And what charges are those? Just to follow up here.
10:24Good question. I have that same question as well. So I don't know how I do.
10:30There are charges against you. Don't know what they are.
10:32No, there's no charges against me. They when they released me, they said they dropped all the
10:36charges on me and that there was no charges against me. So with work, I don't know how I'm
10:41supposed to prove that I have no charges against me other than what they then them telling me that
10:48George final thought here. What's your message after all of this? What do you want our viewers to know?
10:53Um, I want you guys to know that what they're doing is wrong. They don't care. If you're a citizen,
11:04they don't care the color of your skin. They don't care if you serve this country.
11:09Um, they don't care who you voted for. If you're left, you're right. Um, you're black, you're white,
11:17you're brown, legal status, you're here illegally, or you're just an immigrant. They don't care if
11:24you're here trying to better your life. Um, they're just there to meet a quota. Um,
11:29they're just there to meet a quota. And it's, if you're not an ICE agent, you're an enemy against
11:36them and they don't care at all. All right. Uh, George Redis there. Um, we'll leave it at that.
11:42So sorry about your ordeal. We'll check in soon. Hopefully. Thanks so much for your time.
11:47Yeah. Thank you. Okay. In the meantime here, we do have a statement in from DHS
11:52spokesperson, Tricia McLaughlin. She says this, George Redis was arrested and has been released.
11:58He's not been charged. The U S attorney's office is reviewing his case along with dozens of others
12:03for potential federal charges related to the execution of the federal search warrant in Camarillo.
12:09We'll be back in just a moment.
12:28We'll be back in just a moment.
12:39Let's go.
14:11And welcome back here to Live Now from Fox.
14:26I'm Andrew Kraft.
14:26Hope you found that last conversation informative.
14:28Had to get George on to tell his story.
14:31We're going to be following up on it as well offline, of course.
14:34Remember, he is a U.S. citizen.
14:35He told us he was born in Ventura County, California.
14:38He's 25 years old.
14:39So if there are any more updates to his story, we'll bring them to you.
14:42As we do approach the top of a new hour, we do have our live vantage points going on right now.
14:48All across the country there in Washington, at the White House, in New York City, in New York Harbor there, at the Statue of Liberty, over Broadway and Music City in Nashville, Tennessee.
14:59Take a look at that.
15:00Over the downtown Los Angeles skyline and so much more here on Capitol Hill.
15:08That's where the House Rules Committee meeting right now as we speak with a markup of the rescissions package that was just passed in the Senate.
15:18They're now considering it.
15:20And these anti-Trump demonstrations on this occasion there, live in Chicago.
15:28John Lewis always said, make good trouble.
15:31That was his iconic mantra as a civil rights icon.
15:34Many are marshalling that very mantra for this very day, five years since he passed, using it as an opportunity to oppose efforts and policies from the Trump administration.
15:46That one there, live in Chicago.
15:48But in the meantime, I want to hear from more of these Trump administration officials, including the U.S. attorney for Washington, D.C., Judge Jeanine Pirro.
15:56She had a press conference today.
15:58Let's listen.
16:02Everyone, today we are taking a stand against those individuals who seek to threaten and intimidate public officials.
16:11This morning, the United States Capitol Police executed an arrest warrant resulting in the arrest of an individual by the name of Seth Jason, who is 64 years old.
16:24He resides in Maryland.
16:26And they also seized a laptop, several telephones, an iPad, as well as thumb drives.
16:34Now, Jason is charged with threatening to murder Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, as well as members of her family.
16:45The threats were repeatedly and continuously made from October of 2023 through the end of January this year.
16:56Now, the quotes included statements like,
16:59I'm looking forward to your book signing.
17:02We are all armed and ready to take care of you.
17:08We're coming after you and your staff.
17:12And we are locked and loaded.
17:15We're going to take you all out.
17:18We've got our AK-47s.
17:21You're going to get one between the eyes.
17:24Bam, bam, bam.
17:25Also threatened were all of the staff at the Congresswoman's office, as well as the staff members' families.
17:35Now, this case is even more egregious because the individual, Seth Jason, is a rogue, former full-time federal government employee at Voice of America.
17:53And he actually used phones located in the control rooms where broadcasters were reporting.
18:03And Voice of America, by the way, which is an organization that reaches millions around the world and apparently communicates in 49 different languages.
18:17Now, through the leadership of President Trump, this sprawling federal bureaucracy is being held accountable, including through the work of Carrie Lake, who is senior advisor to the U.S. Agency for Global Media, which oversees Voice of America.
18:34Now, my office is going to continue to hold government employees to the highest standards and make no mistake, this defendant here is also, disappointingly, a reserve officer with the Anne Arundel County Police Department.
18:55Now, let me just talk about the effects of this kind of thing.
19:00No one should have to live their life looking over their shoulder every day and wondering if those threats are about to be fulfilled and about to come true.
19:10And the threat to murder, have your family murdered as well as yourself is debilitating for a lot of people and they create a climate of fear as well as disrupting one's ability to actually perform their duties.
19:26So, my message today should be loud and clear, this behavior is a crime, you threaten a public official and you'll face the full force of the law crushing down on you, there will be no mercy and no excuses.
19:44And I would like to thank the Office of the State Department's Inspector General, but also the Capitol Police, who have been working on this case for several years, and we have with us Chief Mike Sullivan.
19:59Chief?
20:01Thank you, Judge.
20:03This has got to stop.
20:05I've been here for three weeks and met with members of Congress consistently and hear a consistent message.
20:13This, this has changed since Minnesota.
20:18We are going to work very, very hard to hold you accountable if you make these threats.
20:23I want to commend the incredible work of the men and women of the Capitol Police.
20:28They came together as a team to put this investigation together, to bring it to the U.S. Attorney, to come to this day.
20:35And they are still working on this investigation as we speak.
20:38So, once again, I want to thank the men and women of the Capitol Police who, every single day, go out and dedicate themselves to make sure that we protect the people that we're sworn to protect.
20:51You want to mention the Inspector General?
20:53And I also want to thank the State Inspector General for their assistance on the case,
20:58and the Anne Arundel County Police, who were there this morning on the scene, helping us on the scene serve the war.
21:06Okay.
21:07All right.
21:09Any questions?
21:10Is he still in custody?
21:11Does he have an initial report here?
21:13Yes.
21:13He's got a presentation within the hour.
21:16It is a four-count indictment that has just been unsealed.
21:20Do you read it for Voice of America?
21:21Or does he?
21:22He is retired from Voice of America just a couple of months ago, so I understand that he's now unemployed.
21:30Do the four-counts as far?
21:34You know what?
21:35That's the one thing that—do you have the file on this?
21:38Hang on.
21:39They involve, obviously, the threats as well as communication versus the telephones as well as the intent to annoy and abuse and harass.
21:57But the original two charges are 18 U.S.C. 115A, influencing a federal official by threatening a family member.
22:07And basically, the statute reads that you threaten—hang on to that—that you threaten a family, you threaten an official with killing a member of their family in the hopes that you will prevent them from doing their official duty or in retaliation for something that they have already done.
22:27That's count one.
22:28And the second one is influencing a federal official by threat.
22:33That's the straight-out threat, I'm going to kill you, as well as anonymous telecommunications harassment.
22:40And obviously, the federal hook there is the telecommunications.
22:44And there is also the interstate communications with the threat to kidnap and injure.
22:52Serious stuff here.
22:54And to have to live your life with that kind of thing, we're locked and loaded, we're coming for you, is not a comfortable thing.
23:01Yes, sir.
23:02Was there any investigation into whether this person may have also been responsible for the swatting incidents?
23:11Yeah, that's a good question.
23:14I don't think that we have any reason to believe that based upon what we know right now.
23:20But as the chief just indicated, I mean, we executed a search warrant.
23:24When we get a return on that information, you know, we'll find out if there's more to comment on.
23:31Yes, sir.
23:31I believe he was actually in possession of an AK-47.
23:35I think that one of the threats that you saw had said that he was.
23:37Yeah.
23:37Did he see any guns today?
23:39Good question.
23:40There were no rifles or guns that were seized today.
23:44Correct?
23:45That's my understanding.
23:46Amen.
23:47Amen.
23:47Amen.
23:47Amen.
