00:00if a student is striving and struggling to pass his examination in arabic we'll say
00:08he'll do jihad so jihad basically means to strive and struggle most of the people think
00:16whether muslims or non-muslims they think that jihad can only be done by muslims
00:22a non-muslim cannot do jihad allah says in the quran in a couple of verses in a couple of places in the
00:32quran that even non-muslim did jihad allah says in israel luqman chapter number 31 verse number 14 we have
00:43enjoined on the human beings to be kind to the parents in triple in travail over travail did the
00:51mother bore you and in years twain was your healing the next verse so luqman chapter number 31 verse
00:58number 15 says but if your parents do jihad strike and struggle to make you worship somebody else besides
01:06allah of which you have no knowledge do not follow them but live with them with love and companionship
01:13here allah is saying he's talking about non-muslim parents doing jihad
01:22somebody else besides allah so here allah uses the word in the quran as jihad that non-muslim parents
01:31are doing jihad struggling and striving to make their children worship somebody else besides allah
01:37a similar message is repeated in surah ankabut chapter number 29 verse number eight we have
01:43enjoined on human beings to be good to their parents but if your parents strive and struggle to jihad
01:50to make you worship somebody besides allah do not obey them here again the message is repeated in surah
01:57ankabut chapter number 29 verse number eight allah is talking about non-muslim parents doing jihad
02:04striving and struggling to make the children worship somebody else besides allah the word jihad is you
02:11here the jihad done by the non-muslims is jihad fee sabi shaitan jihad in the name of shaitan satan
02:23that means they're striving and struggling to please the satan what we muslims do is jihad fee sabi
02:31lillah jihad striving and struggling in the way of allah
02:38now whenever jihad is used unless otherwise the context speaks something else
02:43it is understood it is jihad fee sabi lillah striving and struggling in the way of allah
02:48unless the context speaks something else like in surah luqman chapter 31 verse number 14 15
02:57or surah ankabut chapter 29 verse number 8 the context shows you that the non-muslim parents are
03:03striving and struggling in the way of sin
03:08against allah otherwise generally when you use the word jihad it means jihad fee sabi lillah
03:13striving and struggling in the way of allah
03:19most of the non-muslims and some so-called muslim scholars inverted commerce they translate the word
03:25jihad as holy war
03:30if you translate the english words holy war into arabic it is harbu muqaddasa this arabic words harbu muqaddasa
03:38does not appear anywhere in the quran neither in any authentic hadith it's not there so to say
03:46that holy war that jihad means holy war is wrong
03:52the harbu muqaddasa doesn't appear anywhere in the quran nor in the hadith nor in the things of the prophet
04:00this english word holy war was first used centuries ago to describe the crusaders the christian crusaders
04:10who in the name of christianity killed thousands and tens and hundreds of thousands of human beings
04:17you accept christianity or you're killed and they call it the holy war so this holy war which was used
04:24for the crusaders the christian crusaders to kill non-christians if they don't accept islam
04:30is now used for the muslims it's totally wrong no way does the quran or the hadith the saying of the
04:41prophet uses the word harbu muqaddasa so jihad does not mean holy war jihad means to strive which means to
04:48struggle
