00:00The Man of Steel is gone, but is he the one to take his place?
00:03Here's a look at McFarlane Toys, DC Multiverse, The Return of Superman's Eradicator.
00:08A Kryptonian AI, the Eradicator eliminated contaminating alien influences.
00:29On Earth, it built the Fortress of Solitude before trying to convert the planet into new Krypton.
00:33It took Superman's form after Doomsday killed him, and on his resurrection, melded with Star Labs scientist David Connor.
00:40I'm sure if you asked this guy, he'd tell you his future was so bright in comics, he has to wear shades.
00:44How about before we get a closer look at the return of Superman Eradicator, let's take this tape measure, and let's see how tall the figure stands.
00:51Even though it's a new release, it's essentially used in the exact same mold as the already Eradicator we've gotten before.
00:55I'd like to thank the folks over at McFarlane Toys that did provide this sample.
00:58Eradicator, because he's using that same mold, is going to stand the same, 7 inches in height, or roughly about 18 centimeters tall.
01:06Yeah, when it comes to molds, he is using the same mold as this figure here.
01:10Although you may notice that the cape's a little bit different, I think it's just because this figure's been sitting inside of a bag, probably suffocating this whole time.
01:17And I think because of the cape, because of that, the cape probably got a little squished.
01:22Same bodies, same face, same problems.
01:24I kind of feel like this is a mold that really should have by now been outdated.
01:28I mean, when you really think of all the other molds of Superman we've gotten, like, for example, the stellar-looking, you know, Silver Age Superman, or also as well, like, even going back to looking at the action comic Superman,
01:38I think either one of these molds could have been ideally suitable for a classic-looking Eradicator.
01:44I mean, really, when, again, you look at the other figures that we've gotten from the reign of Superman, I can't find steel at the moment.
01:49We got ourselves a Cyborg Superman. Now, we are getting a new version of Cyborg Superman that we will be looking at.
01:55We also got ourselves Superboy. Of course, we're also going to be getting a classic-released version of Superboy.
02:00So it seems like while they are modernizing, well, modernizing in the sense that they're going back, obviously, to redo classic characters.
02:07If you want to get your hands on classic characters, I just kind of sort of feel like Eradicator's now a little outdated by the design and the mold that they're choosing.
02:14Speaking of classics, though, I did also want to bring in my Mattel. This is the DC Universe Classics Eradicator.
02:20This happens to be using the exact same body. I would have said, really, as Superman, but with Mattel, they were pretty much using the same mold again and again and again.
02:28Because of that, that mold is shared the exact same with that in Superman.
02:31Making the same use of the mold, the figure, unfortunately, doesn't come with any other accessories, sort of to sell the idea that this is a brand-new, released figure.
02:38I mean, outside of still really the same hands that the other figure already got.
02:41He also comes included with a display stand, and off to the far corner from that, the figure does also have this trading card.
02:48Feast your eyes on this trading card that we get of Eradicator.
02:50Nice design of, well, the stand-in for Supes until we realize that really wasn't Superman at all.
02:56The thing I really like, though, about the way they've designed the card is they give translucency to his glasses so you can see his red eyes underneath.
03:02Something, certainly, that they could have considered and maybe entertained the idea when it came to this release of Superman.
03:07He also has the energy orbs also around his hands.
03:10Again, unfortunately, not an accessory that comes in clear with this figure.
03:13On the back, though, his real name is N.A., a very small paragraph read that's pretty easy to read, I'm sure, for yourself, or I also write at the beginning of this review.
03:22Let's move that off to the side.
03:23Yeah, regular basics when it comes to the display stand.
03:26You still get the DC logo down here, and walking distance, there's also the display stand peg that can plug into either one of Eradicator's feet.
03:33But, then, mentioned already, the figure does also have some swappable hands.
03:36Now, if you prefer, like, gestured hands, these are kind of cool for that.
03:39But, again, like, I don't know, we just kind of are, I feel like we're kind of just treading over the same territory that we covered before.
03:46Swapping, though, the hands, though, is just a case of holding onto the forearm.
03:49And then we're going to replace it, then, with, make sure, of course, you want to follow the rule of thumb.
03:54What's the rule of thumb?
03:54The rule of thumb is that thumbs always go in if you're trying to figure out which way a hand should go on your action figure.
04:00These hands, by the way, though, I don't know why, maybe have a lot to do with the way that the peg swivels back and forth.
04:06Every time you think you get them in there, these blasted pegs.
04:12I've done this a couple of times, but I guess I haven't done it nearly enough.
04:15There we go.
04:16Is it all the way on there?
04:17I don't think it's all the way on there.
04:18There we go.
04:19These hands are really large, also, as well, when you're looking at the size of those, and then kind of the proportions of the body all around him.
04:25As for the figure's mold, yes, again, it's the same mold as we've gotten with this eradicator, I think, even in the review that I've done.
04:32But you did the review of this guy?
04:33Sure did.
04:34Sure did.
04:35May have even mentioned in the video for him that I would guess that they probably would have used the mold again, and it's given us a classic-looking eradicator.
04:43Well, sure enough, they did.
04:44This body is the same mold as both the Hush Superman.
04:48It's been released again.
04:49It was part of a two-pack wave that was, well, it's not a two-pack wave.
04:52It was packed along with Doomsday.
04:54They probably should have brought in Doomsday as well.
04:56So I can understand why they would have maybe chose the mold based on the fact that it's the mold that they use for that Superman.
05:02But the thing about that, though, is since that time has come out, I feel like, have we all kind of agreed that this mold's been retired?
05:09I mean, when was the last time, really, that we saw this mold?
05:12Obviously, I started looking at eradicator here.
05:14Since then, though, since then, we've gotten this release mold of Superman.
05:18I know this mold's been also used for other things as well.
05:21And even if you just date prior to that, we also got, of course, the Action Comics Superman.
05:26I know, obviously, it does look like he's missing leg day.
05:28But other than that, I mean, it was really never a big issue at all for me, at least, that they used this body for many Superman releases.
05:35Taking that idea, would it not have just made sense if you're going to release a new updated eradicator?
05:40Instead of simply just re-releasing the same figure from head to toe, maybe it could have, again, gone back to a well house for another mold and use that Superman body instead.
05:51Yeah, so this body, one of the kind of things that's really bothered me always about this mold was very short legs, very stocky upper torso.
05:59I mean, it's a fine mold, I suppose, but we've gotten so many better offerings since.
06:04The head sculpt, again, is okay.
06:05It's the same head that we've already gotten before.
06:07I feel like, again, an opportunity probably could have popped up where they maybe could have used a brand new head sculpt.
06:12Again, some translucent glasses could have gone a real long way.
06:16And also, too, that's something, speaking about dating, they're still using the plastic cape.
06:20Now, using a fabric cape would have been a harder thing to pull off, especially getting a wave that looks like this.
06:25I mean, obviously, they could have just run a wire into the cape itself with the fabric that you could have done this pose yourself.
06:31I just, I feel like with this being, this figure's just come out.
06:35I feel like we're not really doing much in the way of progress, because, again, it's just the same mold as what we've gotten before.
06:40Instead of just having him all done in black, at least he does have the coloring of his skin tone.
06:45But, yeah, I just kind of feel like the figure's a little outdated.
06:49I do like the emblem, the way that they've sculpted that.
06:51I think it's certainly one of the better-looking Superman S's we've had.
06:53And one thing about the eradicator design is the fact that the emblem went then right to his cape, so the cape didn't attach separately, it attached right to the front of his shield.
07:02For the coloring of the rest of the body, again, the back of it's all completely black.
07:06The only little bit of blue that we actually get is just this strip down the middle, and it branches off to the side.
07:11So, basically, if you had the legs straight together, somebody would have just taken, I know, this is, I'm sort of simplifying this, just a big brush, broad stroke, just all the way down in blue.
07:20The blue goes all the way down.
07:21And, I mean, for the most part, it's okay.
07:22I mean, I don't have an issue, necessarily, with the paint.
07:24I have more of the issue with the mold.
07:27Now, because, again, he's using the exact same mold as the other eradicator, the articulation on this figure is going to remain the same.
07:32Head's going to be on a bulge, right?
07:33So, it allows the head to rotate, of course, all the way around.
07:36I say, of course, that may not have been the case.
07:38Heads can look up above that high.
07:40It can look very low, and you can also move it back and forth as well.
07:44Eradicator also, I feel, suffers maybe from too wide of a head.
07:47He should have maybe been a more narrower head.
07:49And, again, to go back to, again, just, like, looking at one of the oldest Supermans, one of my favorite still Supermans, could you not have pictured maybe this Superman just with glasses on?
07:59That would have been a perfect-looking eradicator, maybe.
08:01And then maybe they just had to retool the shield so that the cape would attach that.
08:05I mean, obviously, this is also a little bit older of an action comic Superman.
08:08We did, though, get technically one that had a fabric cape.
08:11I think they probably could have done something similar here.
08:13Back to the figure's articulation, though.
08:15The upper torso is on a ball joint.
08:17The lower torso is also going to be on a ball joint.
08:20Arms would rotate all the way around, and they do still.
08:22I mean, you do kind of feel like there's a little bit of friction as you try to move the arm all the way around, but it still manages to do that.
08:27You can pull those arms out at a 90-degree or T-pose.
08:30T-pose.
08:32Figure does have a bicep swivel.
08:34In addition to that, a double hinge on the elbow, and the hands rotate all the way around.
08:38There is also a hinge joint here, too.
08:40I don't spend enough time really ever talking about that, but there's a hinge joint.
08:44Obviously, you can move these hands back and forth, too.
08:47Now, for the lower legs, the lower legs do split.
08:50You can take the legs and move forward.
08:52You can move them back.
08:53Yes, indeed.
08:53You can also swivel the top of the thigh.
08:56A double hinge on the knee gets afforded the figure, and then, again, when he has the ankle articulation, it's there.
09:01An ankle rocker is also there as well, and the figure does also have toe articulation.
09:04It's a hard one for this one, just because, again, we haven't done him yet.
09:10I kind of want to really look at Eradicator first, but we will also be looking at the return of Superman Cyborg.
09:15Now, for a while, though, the Cyborg that I had on my shelf was basically this one right here.
09:19I mean, I even probably said, here I am advertising things I may have said in other reviews.
09:24I probably even had quoted in the review of this version of Cyborg Superman that it's probably going to be a stand-in
09:29until we eventually get one that's a little bit more of a classic design.
09:32Well, we are getting a classic design Cyborg.
09:35He's going to be reviewing, his review actually is going to be coming up this week as well.
09:39I kind of really feel like McFarlane's kind of been doing really well when it comes to new moles.
09:44Applying brand new paint, throwing in some accessories there, kind of really jazzing up the line as he gets near the end of the license.
09:50I kind of feel like, though, he's backtracked a bit when it comes to Eradicator.
09:54Eradicator could have been a prime opportunity.
09:56I mean, we have this one, and that's a fine figure for what it was and for the time that it came out.
10:01But better things have come out since.
10:04We've gotten like this Superman.
10:05For me, like, it's kind of the benchmark.
10:07It's the bar that got set between both the body and the factory dolls that did also have a fabric cape.
10:13Why would they have not maybe used this mold?
10:15Or again, if they maybe wanted to keep that mold specifically for Supes,
10:18why don't I even go back to the idea of using, like, the Action Comics body for Superman?
10:23Which, again, like, I think even for Eradicator, this head skull probably could have been perfect.
10:28Keeping the head exactly the same way, changing coloring of his eyes, maybe to just a red instead.
10:33And even adding then translucent glasses across that.
10:36Could you picture it?
10:37I could certainly picture it.
10:38Adding then a fabric cape on the back of his body.
10:40And just obviously just coloring the body just a little bit different than what we got for this original Superman.
10:44I mean, it's not hard to think that they probably could have not just used the Action Comics Superman body.
10:49I don't think there is a time yet that we're going to be retiring this mold.
10:53In fact, actually, Bizarro, one of the figures we also will be looking at,
10:57Bizarro isn't actually even using this mold at all.
11:00Seems that they still use the Action Comics body for that.
11:03So the Action Comics, I still feel like there's life in that mold.
11:07That would have been a great example as a figure body mold that they could have then used for the Eradicator.
11:11Instead, what they chose is they gave us a hush Batman body.
11:15And I think it's a body that I wasn't really honestly a big fan of the first time it came out
11:18because it just made for much stockier Superman.
11:21And because of that, because of using that mold to now the new released Eradicator,
11:25and let's just move these guys off to the side,
11:27I feel like, again, we haven't made much progress
11:29when really I think they needed a re-event Eradicator from the ground up.
11:33I find also by not including those energy orbs around his hand
11:36is also one thing at least that could have helped this figure out.
11:40If a mold like this is going to be dusted off and used again,
11:43throwing some extra accessories like that that weren't released with the original figure
11:46could have then at least sold this guy to collectors that were on the fence in the first place.
11:51I think in the end though, because we already have this Eradicator,
11:54the only thing honestly that they've really done is just given them a new trading card.
11:58They've colored the face a little bit different from the original Eradicator we got before,
12:01but everything is the same.
12:04And I just kind of feel like with a mold like this that I feel is a little outdated,
12:08I know that's one thing I kind of said a couple of times in this review,
12:11when you get an outdated mold like this,
12:13and then it just sort of seems like the company's dusting it off and using it again,
12:17I just feel like Eradicator deserved a better release than what we got right here.
12:22Now, Eradicator is also getting a Platinum Edition
12:24that's going to have more of a translucent blue plastic.
12:27He's going for some stupid money.
12:29I don't know why he's selling for as high as he is,
12:31but we also will be looking at him in an upcoming review as well.
12:35A big thank you again to the folks over at McFarling Toys
12:37that did provide the sample brand new Return of Superman Eradicator.
12:41While the release is new, the mold unfortunately isn't.
12:44What do you guys think of the figure?
12:45Let me know down below in the comments section.
12:47You know, again, like, I didn't want to rag so much on this figure.
12:50In the end though, I always really loved the Eradicator.
12:52If I was to choose a character that I thought would be the one that gets the baton
12:56and carries it on with the Man of Steel's deceased status,
12:59I really thought that Eradicator would have been the one.
13:01And I really feel like for Eradicator being a cool design like that,
13:05he honestly needed a better figure.
13:07If you guys did enjoy this video,
13:08let me know down below in the comments section
13:10by certainly hitting it with a like.
13:12And if you guys want to stick around for more so,
13:14and I hope so,
13:15all this week, in fact, my friends, my colleagues, comrades,
13:18we will be looking at a whole bunch of DC Multiverse figures
13:21courtesy of the folks over at McFarling Toys,
13:22so hopefully you're coming back for that.
13:24As always, guys, thanks for watching.
13:26See you guys next time.
