00:00Mondo must be on the move because the Thundercats are loose.
00:03Here's your look at the brand new Mondo.
00:04This is the Thundercats Lion-O 1-6 scale collectible figure.
00:25Lead the Thundercats against Mumra and his evil army with Lion-O,
00:28the first figure in their Mondo Thundercats 1-6 scale line.
00:32Designed with premium features, including removable armor,
00:35the Lord of the Thundercats comes complete with swappable hands, portraits, weapons, and claw shields.
00:40Even the Book of Omens.
00:42Just before we get a closer look at the Lord of the Thundercats,
00:44let's, yeah, take the tape measure and see how tall Lion-O stands.
00:47Now, there was two releases of Lion-O, both the regular version that we looked at in this review,
00:51and there's the timed edition.
00:52You don't need the Sword of Omens or the Sight Beyond Sight to see that the timed edition has already sold out fast.
00:58The difference between the two, though, is that the regular version that we're looking at here,
01:01courtesy, by the way, of the folks over at Mondo that provided this sample,
01:05he's selling right now for $225 online,
01:07whereas the timed edition that gave you the snarf and gave you some extra head portraits,
01:11sold out for $250.
01:13A difference of $25.
01:15I can see why he sold out so fast.
01:17Again, a big thank you to the folks over at Mondo that did provide this sample we could have a look at.
01:20If you guys are interested and would like to get at least the regular version,
01:24it's available right now over on their site.
01:26You can also go the route of paying for interest-free installments,
01:29starting around $20.31.
01:32With that being said, though, the tape measure is going to tell us
01:34that Lord Lion-O is going to stand a little over 12 inches in height
01:38because he's got a little hair on the top.
01:39That's going to work out to be a figure that's about 31.5 centimeters tall.
01:44Talk about 80s overload, though.
01:45Let's slide over one leader of a group and bring in another.
01:48Another 80s icon.
01:50Here's what the figure looks like with the Mondo Master Universe He-Man.
01:53Stand options.
01:54Lion-O does come included with one.
01:56A circular display stand gets gifted this figure.
01:59The two halves have to come together when you get this out of the packaging,
02:02so basically you've got yourself the neck here.
02:04Just do it like that.
02:05You've got the neck piece, and of course you've got your circular display.
02:08Let's connect the two together.
02:09You've got a little slot right there,
02:10and you've got a little groove right there.
02:12Fit the two together,
02:13and now you've got yourself a display stand for Lion-O.
02:15It's a simple enough stand.
02:17I don't really feel like it needs anything else.
02:18I mean, they could probably put the Thundercats logo along the top,
02:21but it really isn't necessary.
02:22There's so much color already with Lion-O,
02:24I don't think it necessarily needs it in the stand.
02:26This is also, I feel, an improvement from the earlier Mondo stands,
02:29where they relied on making the M logo.
02:31I think you need a much larger footprint,
02:33and it's glad to see that.
02:34I'm happy to see, though,
02:35that they're now using a circular display stand.
02:37Now, again, you're just going to bring this up here.
02:40Lion-O, ironically, does stand fine on its own.
02:42It's not like you necessarily need the display stand,
02:44but if you like the bells and the whistles, the frills,
02:46it certainly does look nice on the shelf when you've got the stand with them.
02:49As for Lion-O's accessories, let's look through them together.
02:51And then as we look through them,
02:53I'll tell you which is part of the also-timed edition,
02:55so you guys can see what you may have missed out on.
02:57First, you get yourself the Book of Omens.
02:59Now, the Book of Omens is packaged both with a regular release
03:02and the timed edition.
03:04Unfortunately, though, the book doesn't open,
03:06and that would have been a fun thing to include,
03:08like a little snap on the front where this could have opened up,
03:10and then the book would have just unraveled.
03:11Not that it would have had to have separate pages inside,
03:14but even if it just split open in the middle,
03:16and then you'd be able to see at least scripture on both the sides.
03:19Now, this is actually more of a rubbery plastic.
03:21It's not a hard, rigid plastic.
03:23It certainly does have a lot of decorative details.
03:26By using also translucent red plastic,
03:28the Thundercats symbol sort of does get a little lost.
03:33I wish they had actually just had colored that in,
03:34really instead of relying on the translucent red plastic.
03:37They've also done something similar as well to Lion-O's belt.
03:40We'll talk about more in a moment.
03:41Yeah, Book of Omens.
03:42Nice little included touch.
03:44The figure does also come included with a dagger.
03:46The top of the dagger looks very similar
03:48to something like Panthera would have had for his nunchuck.
03:51Now, this is done here all in gold.
03:53You've got a real metal chain,
03:54so that's really nice to see.
03:56And then you've got yourself the dagger on the other end.
03:58Just a nice little included accessory.
04:00Again, the timed edition also has that as well.
04:03Get some swappable hands.
04:04Yes, you do.
04:05Some C-clap hands.
04:06I've already taken the liberty of popping into the forearms of Lion-O.
04:09You may want to start your journey, though, in Thundera
04:11with maybe closed fists instead,
04:13punching some mutants.
04:14Maybe that might be more helpful.
04:16I do think that they've done a really nice job
04:17of not only coloring the nails,
04:19but you can also see the inner pad are nicely done, too.
04:22Looking for a second in thinking,
04:24maybe some of the paint had bleated,
04:26bled, bled onto the thumb.
04:28I think actually that's just the way it's supposed to be designed.
04:31Again, you can just swap out the hands,
04:32pop those off, and replace them with these.
04:34Because you'll see, too,
04:36even though he does have a lot of 80s inspiration
04:38to the design of the character,
04:40they have, though, modernized some of Lion-O,
04:42like including the interior paws.
04:44Again, you've got yourself a couple of grabbing claws.
04:47I'm using claws as the description rather than hands.
04:50And he also comes with a pair of relaxed hands.
04:52You may already see right now
04:53why I chose to have the hands removed
04:55and swapped out with these.
04:56Because, again, he's going to have a lot of cool accessories
04:58to display with him as well.
05:00The figure does also come in clear with his claw shield.
05:02Now, like in the cartoon,
05:04the claw shield can either be held
05:05holstered on the side of his belt.
05:08I'll show you guys that also in a second.
05:10But you can also then remove his hand
05:11and slide that up his form
05:13and have it displayed that way.
05:16Nice-looking claw shield, though.
05:18I would imagine, though,
05:19looking at the interior of this,
05:20that they would have gone with more of a darker plastic,
05:22and then they would have painted this intricately.
05:25So well-painted.
05:26You can see how well they've done for the claw shield.
05:28Now, again, you can have the claw shield
05:30holstered on the side of his belt.
05:33Before maybe we do that, though,
05:34the figure does also come with two variations
05:36of the Sword of Omens.
05:38When you get the timed edition, though,
05:39you're going to have the shorter blade,
05:41the Sword of Omens,
05:42of course, before he draws the blade.
05:44With the timed also,
05:45you're going to be getting three variations
05:46of the longer blade.
05:48One that's going to look like this.
05:49I think one that has maybe the Eye of Thundera,
05:53or Sight Beyond Sight.
05:54And then there's one that's going to have
05:55the electricity all running around it.
05:56And just that alone,
05:58and the fact it also includes Snarf.
06:00I really wish I could have got my hands
06:02on the timed edition.
06:03But yeah, that's a beautiful-looking
06:04Sword of Omens.
06:06Again, it's using a translucent red plastic,
06:09so making out the Thundercats logo
06:11might be a little harder to do.
06:12But other than that,
06:13it's a nice-looking sword.
06:14Now, you could take, though, the sword.
06:16And if you look on the side here,
06:18on the front of the claw shield,
06:19there's a little section right here.
06:20You take yourself the smaller blade sword,
06:23and you slide it in place.
06:25And it holds really well.
06:25Like, it's not going to be going anywhere at all.
06:28This can, then,
06:29if you look at the figure,
06:30and you look at the side of the figure's body,
06:31there's a hook right here
06:33that you can loop on the claw shield,
06:35just like that.
06:37It sits a little further back.
06:38I suppose you probably could slide this around a bit.
06:40As you're, though, turning this around,
06:42obviously you're going to be
06:42turning the skirting around as well.
06:44But you can display it that way.
06:46You can also take the figure's hand off here,
06:49and take the claw shield,
06:51and the claw shield will plug in place.
06:53Now, one of my concerns was,
06:55would you still be able to slide the sword in
06:56if the claw shield is on his arm?
06:58Well, you can probably already see for yourself.
06:59The answer is yes.
07:01And that's a nice way of displaying the figure.
07:03Of course, it's not going to make much sense at all
07:05if he's going to have himself
07:06a Sword of Omens over here,
07:07and then he's holding the longer blade.
07:08So, maybe you might want to choose
07:09to take this off first,
07:11and then have the Sword of Omens
07:12then displayed in his other hand.
07:14Now, with the hand,
07:15I'm just going to take it off right now.
07:17This piece also does come off, too.
07:18It's one of the removable armor pieces.
07:20He's basically got himself a little bracer
07:22that slides up his forearm.
07:23The Thundercats logo is also there as well.
07:25I prefer myself to actually take the sword first
07:28and attach it into his hand,
07:29and then attach his hand to his forearm,
07:31just because I find it's a little easier to do.
07:33These hands, by the way that they've designed the thumbs,
07:35are really close together.
07:37So, again, we just kind of pry this out.
07:39Now, you can also go the route
07:40of heating this up in hot water.
07:42I haven't had any problems so far
07:44actually getting this on.
07:45Although, again, this pops off, too,
07:47so don't worry.
07:47If you also can do, you can take this off,
07:50you can slide the sword.
07:51That might even be the easier thing.
07:53Slide the sword up by its handle first,
07:55then they take the top of the Sword of Omens
07:57and snap it in place.
07:58Now, when you snap it in place,
08:00see there's a little,
08:01I don't know if you guys can see,
08:02it's almost shaped like a keyhole.
08:04It has to go a certain way.
08:06And take yourself the Sword of Omens,
08:07take yourself then the bracer,
08:09slide the bracer back up his arm,
08:11and then take the hand and attach it,
08:12reattach it back onto his forearm.
08:14Just like that.
08:17Now, if you're lucky enough
08:18to get your hands on the very also impressive
08:20Master of the Universe He-Man,
08:22imagine having both He-Man and Lino
08:24displayed on their shelves
08:25with their respected swords.
08:27That's really cool.
08:28Yeah.
08:28Let's slide all the other accessories
08:30out of the way.
08:31The one other thing that this Lino does have
08:32is a swappable portrait.
08:34You take that idea,
08:36and you then multiply it by two,
08:37because the timed edition
08:38is also going to come with
08:39two other head portraits totaling,
08:41well, actually totaling five.
08:42You get four extra heads,
08:43plus the one that comes included with Lino,
08:44so of course you get five heads.
08:46One of them is going to be Lino
08:47that has the crown.
08:49There's also going to be a cape
08:50as well for that too,
08:51so there's a couple of cool things
08:52available with the timed edition.
08:53The timed edition also had as well
08:55the cape,
08:56and mentioned already,
08:57the timed edition also does
08:58come included with Snarf.
08:59I don't know if we're going to be getting
09:00a standalone Snarf,
09:01but I do know though
09:02we are going to be getting a Mumra,
09:03and Mumra's going to come with Mamut,
09:05if you're lucky enough
09:06to get the timed edition for that.
09:08As mentioned though,
09:08the figure does also come included
09:10with a swappable head,
09:11so I'm just going to first
09:12take the hand off his socket,
09:15detach the sword.
09:16This might even be
09:17the easiest thing to do
09:18rather than just
09:19prying the fingers away each time
09:21and trying to fit the sword
09:21in that way.
09:22Smart really that they made
09:23this sword as two separate pieces,
09:25so it just makes things
09:25a whole lot easier
09:26putting it in his hands.
09:28Okay, so let's go ahead
09:29and put that back in place.
09:31As mentioned,
09:32the figure does have,
09:33first of all,
09:33this is the defaulted head for Lino.
09:35This would be the head
09:36I find I'm going to find,
09:38see myself really displaying
09:39on the shelf with.
09:40It's more of a neutral expression.
09:42He's not really evoking
09:43much in the way of emotions,
09:44but there certainly is
09:45this strong contender as well
09:47if you'd like to display
09:48the figure with this instead.
09:49Now this doesn't have,
09:51if you look at it,
09:52the eyes are about the same.
09:53Not that really one
09:54is having glowing eyes
09:55and the other one isn't,
09:56but I do certainly think
09:57that both heads are good.
09:58I just,
09:59I actually like this one
10:00just a little bit more.
10:01The paint on this is fantastic.
10:03I think they've done
10:03such a nice job
10:04just to sculpt and paint
10:05this figure.
10:05I would think though
10:07that they probably have
10:07gone in there
10:08and hand-painted this.
10:10Now the sculpts were done
10:11by May,
10:11I think it's Pam Tarana
10:13and Tommy Hodges.
10:15Between those two,
10:16I think they've done
10:16an excellent job
10:17of capturing not only
10:19the likeness of an 80s Lino,
10:20but also modernizing him as well.
10:23Certainly there is to be said
10:24a little bit more fur
10:25on the figure's face
10:26as well for the rest of his body.
10:27Maybe like the cartoon Lino
10:29may not have had
10:29as much of that.
10:31Man,
10:31that's such a good looking
10:32head sculpt though.
10:33To change the heads out,
10:34by the way,
10:34you're just going to hold
10:35on to the torso.
10:36Pop the head
10:37from the provided ball peg.
10:39Take yourself your new head
10:40and snap it in place.
10:42Just like that.
10:43You want to make sure,
10:43of course,
10:43you apply enough pressure.
10:46Now if he's using
10:46the Sword of Omens
10:47to summon the rest
10:48of the Thundercat team,
10:49maybe this perhaps
10:50might be the head sculpt
10:51you're going to want
10:51to use instead.
10:53Just to again show you
10:54guys the differences
10:54between the two.
10:56For the rest of Lino's armor
10:58with the Cat's Claw
10:59obviously already attached
11:00onto his forearm,
11:01it's very much evoking the idea
11:03and the look that he had
11:03in the 80s cartoon.
11:05There are some things though
11:06that they have added
11:07like for example
11:07the skirting on the front
11:09just below the belt.
11:10The belt also does have
11:11still the Thundercats logo.
11:13If you don't like
11:14really as much
11:14the look to the skirting,
11:16what you can also do too
11:17is if you lift the belt up,
11:19this section,
11:20actually all across
11:21the top here,
11:22there's these little peg pieces
11:23that plug into the belt
11:24and hopefully you guys can see.
11:26See how there's a little slot
11:27right underneath the belt.
11:29Just take your skirting
11:30and detach that
11:31and then what you can do
11:32is just take the skirt
11:33and slide it all the way down.
11:35Now you're going to want
11:36to make sure of course
11:36everything is detached,
11:37detached off the back.
11:39There we go.
11:40And then basically
11:41just slide it down,
11:41line those legs.
11:43Now I don't know
11:44if there's an easier way
11:45to do this.
11:45There may not be
11:46an easier way to do this,
11:47but I found this was
11:48the easiest way.
11:49You kind of again
11:49just want to slide it
11:50down his thighs.
11:52Get it so far down.
11:53Once it really passes
11:54past the knees,
11:55then you're okay.
11:55You're good to go.
11:56Again, just slide that down
11:57all on both sides,
11:59both sides
11:59and get it around
12:01Lion-O's boots.
12:01So we're going to go ahead
12:02and just take off
12:03the skirt for right now.
12:04I kept that there
12:05just to show you guys
12:06that that's how it could start
12:07and this could then
12:08be how it ends.
12:09So if you want
12:09kind of more of the Lion-O
12:10looking more like the cartoon,
12:12you can go this look as well.
12:14Now there is a slot.
12:17There's a slot right here
12:18along the tops of his trunks
12:19and there's actually a peg.
12:21I don't know if you guys can see.
12:22There's a little lip of plastic
12:23right here.
12:24So you just bring that down
12:25and you just basically
12:26plug in place.
12:27It's kind of a really hard
12:28thing to pull off
12:29because a lot of times
12:30you're going to be
12:30kind of lifting the figure
12:31up like this
12:31just to kind of make sure
12:32everything is lined up.
12:33But that gives you
12:34what is a fairly finished
12:36looking Lion-O.
12:37The trunks seem though
12:38a little unfinished
12:39because again,
12:40like when you're looking
12:40at how much paint
12:41that went into
12:41the top of his torso,
12:42the lower of his trunks
12:43basically is just
12:44a basic blue.
12:45For the lower ends
12:46of his legs though,
12:47again, there's a lot of hair
12:48and fur that's been
12:49sculpted in place.
12:50They've airbrushed
12:51some nice little musculature
12:52there on Lion-O's legs.
12:53You know, of course,
12:54he does have classic
12:55looking 80s boots.
12:55They have modernized them
12:56a little bit
12:57so we've got now
12:58more guards on the front.
12:59They're all just
13:00not just blue boots.
13:01He's got a slightly
13:02more lighter kind of
13:03teal color on the backs
13:04and now he has gold boots
13:05on the bottom.
13:06Gold soles on the bottom.
13:08Of course, you can't see
13:08there's Mondo there as well.
13:10For the figure's articulation
13:11sticking with this head
13:13that we have right now,
13:15Lion-O's head in both the cases
13:16is going to have a ball joint
13:16so it allows the head
13:17to rotate back and forth.
13:19You have the head
13:19looking down
13:20and looking up.
13:21You can also have it
13:22rocking back and forth as well.
13:24Lion-O's top torso
13:25is going to be
13:26on a very good ball joint.
13:27You can crunch it forward,
13:28crunch it back.
13:29You can also move it
13:30back and forth slightly
13:31and there's a little bit
13:33of a waist swivel there as well.
13:34His arms do rotate
13:36all the way around.
13:38A much bigger,
13:38obviously,
13:39figure to deal with.
13:39You can bring these arms out
13:40at about 45 degrees.
13:42That's about it.
13:43There goes the cat's claw.
13:44I'm just going to go ahead
13:45and bring that back here.
13:47He does have a bicep swivel.
13:49Yes, he does.
13:49A single hinge only
13:50in the elbow
13:51but at least it gives
13:52the forearm an opportunity
13:53to swivel back and forth too.
13:55Now again,
13:55if you don't like the bracer,
13:56you can easily take
13:56the bracer off
13:57and just leave that off
13:58altogether.
13:59Hands rotate whatever hands
14:00you want to use
14:00all the way around.
14:01Back and forth motion
14:02there as well.
14:04For Lion-O's legs,
14:05they split out.
14:06Now these legs
14:06do have a little bit
14:07of a swivel at the top.
14:08They have a double hinge
14:10on the knee.
14:11There's articulation
14:11down below here
14:12for the lower calf.
14:14There is a little bit
14:15of articulation
14:15I feel as well
14:16for the boots
14:17and you can also
14:17move the ankles
14:18up and down
14:19and an ankle rocker
14:20back and forth as well.
14:22Lion-O looks fantastic.
14:24As mentioned already,
14:25Mondo's already got
14:26listings showing.
14:27They've already dropped
14:28images of Mumra
14:29and I can't wait
14:30to see what Mumra's
14:31going to look like
14:31in person.
14:32It is one of those cases
14:33though where you really
14:34want to jump the gun quick
14:35and get these timed editions.
14:37Get the timed editions,
14:38not drop Lion-O's head
14:40in the process.
14:40Let's just grab
14:41the Sword of Omens.
14:42Fish over Lion-O's head.
14:44There we go.
14:45Really probably should have
14:46had the display stand.
14:47You know what?
14:47I'll get back
14:47to the display stand
14:48on there.
14:50Yeah, with the timed editions
14:51you really want to make sure
14:52though, you want to really
14:53ensure that you're getting
14:53the timed editions
14:54as soon as they drop
14:55because the timed editions
14:56are the things that
14:57sell out really fast.
14:59Mumra is one I really feel
15:00like if you're not going
15:00to be getting right away
15:01he's going to be selling out
15:03because like with Lion-O,
15:04Lion-O had, for example,
15:06like Snarf.
15:07And if you get the timed
15:08edition of Mumra,
15:09Mumra's going to have
15:09the timed edition
15:10is going to have
15:11then included Mum-Muts.
15:13All the more reason
15:13why you'd want to really
15:14jump the gun
15:14and get quickly
15:15the timed editions
15:16before they sell out.
15:17Still though,
15:18when you're having
15:18the two displayed
15:1980s overload nostalgia,
15:21again, when you have
15:22yourself the Master
15:23of the Universe
15:24He-Man, for example,
15:25and now you've got
15:25yourself an 80s
15:26depiction of
15:27Thundercat's Lion-O
15:29in the larger size
15:31with the amount
15:31of detail,
15:32with the amount
15:32of paint,
15:33with the amount
15:33of accessories
15:34that Mondo throws
15:36at these larger
15:36scale figures.
15:37If you have the space,
15:39I know that some people
15:39have smaller quarters,
15:41maybe don't have
15:41the space to accommodate
15:42taller 12-inch tall
15:44figures like this,
15:44but if you do
15:45have the space
15:46and you love
15:46the 80s
15:47and you love
15:47the Thundercats,
15:49Lion-O's certainly
15:49one that you're
15:50going to want
15:50to add to your
15:51shelf.
15:51I think for a
15:51$225 figure,
15:53you really get
15:53your money's worth
15:54when it comes to
15:54modern releases.
15:55Just the size
15:56of these figures
15:57alone,
15:57not to mention
15:58all the accessories
15:58that they throw
15:59at them.
16:00Now, if you were,
16:01again, lucky enough
16:01to get your hands
16:02on the timed edition,
16:03which, again,
16:03was only like $25
16:04more,
16:05not only did you
16:06get the accessories
16:07that we featured
16:07in this review,
16:08but, as well,
16:09you would also get
16:10then five different
16:11head portrait
16:11for Lion-O.
16:12One that was
16:13a neutral expression,
16:14which, again,
16:14was in this video.
16:15One was also
16:16a screaming portrait
16:16that also was
16:17in this video.
16:18One, though,
16:19that was also
16:19an Eyes of Thundera
16:20sight-beyond
16:21sight head sculpt,
16:22which would be
16:23then using the
16:23same neutral head
16:24from what I can see
16:25and just changing
16:26the colors of the eyes.
16:27There was also
16:28a King Lion-O,
16:28and there was also
16:29one that Manu
16:30designed from scratch.
16:31Four different versions
16:32of the Sword of Omens,
16:33two that we looked
16:34at in this review
16:34with the dagger
16:35and the long sword.
16:35There was also
16:36a classic Sword of Omens,
16:38one that was also
16:39a lightning sword,
16:40still got the Book of Omens,
16:41and you also got
16:41two different variations
16:42of the Claw Shield.
16:44In the end, though,
16:45I'm still happy now
16:46to have a regular version
16:47on the shelf,
16:48even though I do
16:49really think
16:49the screaming portrait
16:50is certainly
16:51one of the best things
16:52that we've seen
16:52when it comes to Thundercats.
16:53I think, though,
16:54I might beeline it back
16:55to a regal-looking Lion-O
16:56with the Sword of Omens
16:57in his one hand
16:58and the Claw Shield
16:59in the other.
17:01Now, again,
17:01like, we've looked
17:03at Lion-O in this review.
17:04You can probably
17:05already look it up
17:05online yourself.
17:07Mondo is planning
17:07to release a Mumra.
17:09Yeah, really looking
17:10forward to that Mumra.
17:11And the same thing
17:12could be said
17:12for the Mumra.
17:13There's going to be
17:13a timed and a regular version.
17:15The timed edition
17:15of Mumra
17:16also comes in clue
17:17with Momuts.
17:18Momuts.
17:19Big thank you again
17:20to the folks, yeah,
17:21at Mondo
17:22that did provide
17:22this sample
17:23of the regular version
17:24of Thundercats Lion-O
17:25that we had the chance
17:26to have a look
17:26in this review.
17:27While, though,
17:28the timed edition
17:28sadly has sold out,
17:30the $225 regular release
17:32of Lion-O
17:33is still available
17:34on their site.
