00:00Mattel spun the wheel and landed on an obscure character.
00:04Here's a look at the brand new Mattel, He-Man, and Master Universe cartoon collection,
00:07Fangman, Evil Fang, Minion of Skeletor.
00:22It's an exciting time to be a Master Universe fan.
00:24For long-time fans and for a new generation of kids who love the action and adventure,
00:27it's time to experience the thrilling action and adventure of He-Man, Skeletor,
00:32The Secrets of Castle Greyskull, and much more.
00:35The figures in this collection stand 5.5 inches tall and have 16 movable joints,
00:39so they're highly poseable for imaginative and action-oriented fun.
00:43Well, I guess if you're going to get dragged to the past,
00:45you might as well dig up some dragosaurs while you're there.
00:48Well, you don't have dragosaurs, though, but what we do have, though,
00:50is a brand new figure courtesy of the folks over at Mattel.
00:53Before we get a closer look at the cartoon collection Fangman, shall we?
00:56Shall we take the tape measure and see how tall the figure stands?
00:59If you include the little fin that he has on the back of his head,
01:03Fangman is going to be at actually about 6 1⁄4 inches in height,
01:07or roughly 16 centimeters tall.
01:10Here's what Fangman looks like along with his boss, Skeletor.
01:13As far as I know, actually, Fangman is still stuck in the past.
01:16He's on Dragosaur Isle, probably waiting for Skeletor's return.
01:20Man, that's got to suck working for Skeletor.
01:23Seeing as that episode also did feature Triclops,
01:25I did also want to bring in Triclops as well.
01:27Triclops does make many rounds when it comes to different episodes.
01:30Not really much could be said, though, for Fangman.
01:32Some other more obscure characters.
01:34Here's also what he looks like with Clawful.
01:36Why not Spikor?
01:37And hey, also why not?
01:38Here's what he looks like with the Cartoon Collection Web Store.
01:40Seeing as that Infinity Wheel that comes included with Fangman
01:43is going to get bigger and faster.
01:45Maybe we should speed along this part of the review.
01:47The figure, first of all, does come include the paper pamphlets.
01:49Yes, the pamphlet does show you, if I open this all up,
01:52that all the parts in the gray
01:53can be popped and swapped around
01:57with other Cartoon Collection figures and Origins figures.
02:00The figure does also come include the mini-comic.
02:03The mini-comic is future tense.
02:05Even though we are thinking about the past,
02:06we should also reflect the future.
02:08Future tense, unfortunately, though, is ripped on mine.
02:11It's almost like I could have gone back in time
02:13and maybe grabbed myself another mini-comic.
02:15Oh, wait, I do.
02:16Both of this mini-comic have been making rounds as well.
02:19We've already got it with Orko,
02:20and we did also get it with Grizzlor.
02:21So while unfortunately, though,
02:23not that one, this one here.
02:24While this one, unfortunately, is damaged,
02:27luckily, though, I've got two backups, just in case.
02:30The comic itself, though,
02:31nothing's going to be changing at all.
02:33Speaking of Cosmic Keys,
02:34speaking of traveling in time,
02:36here's the Cosmic Key being advertised on the top.
02:39Also, there's Catalyst.
02:40I think that's actually Catalyst.
02:41From the previous Grizzlor episode
02:43that we've already had a look at,
02:44He Ain't Heavy.
02:45There's also, again,
02:46the New Adventures of He-Man.
02:48I know many people just despise
02:50New Adventures of He-Man.
02:51I like New Adventures of He-Man.
02:53One time, actually, during a weekend,
02:55I had binged through, like,
02:56ten episodes of New Adventures of He-Man.
02:58I didn't start from beginning to end.
03:00I kind of cherry-picked the ones
03:02that I really wanted to watch,
03:03sort of when Skeletor is in the beginning
03:04where he has kind of that crown piece,
03:07and then a little bit later on
03:07where he's got those tree-stump kind of boots.
03:10Weird designs for Skeletor.
03:11Really weird designs for all the characters.
03:13Anyways, we've got some Red Horde Troopers there.
03:15We've got She-Ra being advertised.
03:17And, again, there's some advertisements on the back.
03:19We're not going to spend some time
03:20going through the mini-comic.
03:21I'm assuming, if you are watching this video,
03:23you probably are collecting
03:24these cartoon collection figures yourself,
03:26and thereby that,
03:27you'll probably already have the mini-comic.
03:28And I'm not going to spoil that for you,
03:30that maybe you want to sit down
03:31with a cup of coffee,
03:32Java,
03:33and maybe just be able to sit through,
03:34read the comic yourself.
03:36Let's move those off to the side.
03:37Okay, so the figure does come included
03:39with the Infinity Wheel.
03:40Now, in the episode of the Time Corridor,
03:43Skeletor travels back in time
03:44to basically the spot
03:46where it eventually will become Grayskull.
03:48This Infinity Wheel is known for spinning fast,
03:51and it continues to spin,
03:53it continues to get bigger
03:54to the point it's going to explode.
03:55Essentially, it's going to destroy
03:56what would be the real estate space
03:58for Castle Grayskull.
03:59And therefore, in the future,
04:01Castle Grayskull won't exist.
04:03Bum, bum, bum.
04:03Um, the Infinity Wheel is at least an episode,
04:07well, at least it's in the episode
04:08that happens to feature Fangman.
04:11Funny, though, enough, again,
04:12like Fangman, for all intents and purposes,
04:14gets stuck in the past
04:15while Skeletor obviously scurries along
04:18and goes back to the present time.
04:20Now, we did get ourselves technically
04:22another release of Fangman
04:23in the 2013 Master Universe Classics toy line,
04:26but I think up to that point,
04:28this character has not really seen
04:29much in the way of an existence.
04:31Going back, though, to the Infinity Wheel,
04:33as you can see, it's not,
04:34no, it's not just the figure eight.
04:36That's the symbol for Infinity.
04:37You can see that it's sculpted on both sides
04:39and painted actually really quite well.
04:41You can take that and fit it
04:42into Fangman's hands.
04:43I did notice, though, with my Fangman,
04:45his elbows are super tight.
04:47Get that, though, into his hand
04:48and he can be displayed that way.
04:49Or, I guess, realistically,
04:51if he's going to be carrying this around,
04:52probably want to give it to Skeletor instead.
04:55Um, there's no other place, obviously,
04:57to store the Infinity Wheel.
04:58I suppose if you're stuck in the past with it,
05:00it doesn't really matter anyways.
05:01Let's just put that off to the side,
05:02getting a closer look at Fangman.
05:05Talking about a deep-cut character.
05:07I wonder, though,
05:08if we're ever going to be getting
05:08an Origins release of Fangman.
05:10Again, when you really think of
05:12how very little episodes he's appeared
05:13in the original Motu series,
05:15the fact that we even have
05:16a deep-cut character like that
05:17is pretty cool.
05:19What isn't so cool, unfortunately, though,
05:21is while I do really like
05:21the look of his face,
05:22I don't really love that
05:24there's a seam line right there.
05:26Right?
05:26If you get your finger out of the way,
05:27mind you.
05:28Right there.
05:28Right there.
05:29It's actually on the other side as well.
05:31I'm wondering if it has something to do
05:32with the cost of producing a mold.
05:34Because, again,
05:35if you're producing this head from scratch,
05:37an entire mold,
05:38I wonder if there would be
05:39a lot of additional plastic
05:41that would have to be cleaned out
05:42from inside his mouth.
05:44I don't know any of this, by the way.
05:45I'm only just really speculating.
05:46But I wonder if the head
05:48has to be cast separately,
05:49and then the lower jaw
05:50has to be a separate piece,
05:51and then they assemble the two.
05:52Whatever they end up doing, though,
05:54what they've done instead
05:55is they've left a little line right there.
05:57See that?
05:57That's on the other side.
05:59You don't see it so much
06:00when you're looking at it
06:00from the front.
06:01You see it, though,
06:02a whole lot more
06:02when you're seeing it from the side.
06:04I do like that they've sculpted the tongue.
06:06It's sticking out.
06:07Nicely painted teeth.
06:08The eyes look nice as well.
06:10You've got the big scales
06:11sticking out the top of his head.
06:12These are a lot harder in plastic
06:13than I was expecting.
06:15So making sure, though,
06:16if you're walking into a kitchen,
06:18maybe carry Fangman like this.
06:20So if you happen to fall forward,
06:22you're not going to fall on
06:22any of his spikes
06:23and poke at your eyes.
06:24Ah!
06:26Blood.
06:26Blood.
06:27For the figure's details, though,
06:28I do really like also the choice
06:30of the blue that they went with.
06:31Kind of like a blue icy.
06:33Man, I have not had a blue icy
06:34in, like, forever.
06:36Maybe I need the infinity key.
06:37Well, I don't really even need
06:38the infinity wheel.
06:40What I do really need
06:41is Skeletor send me back in time
06:42to the time when things
06:43were so much simpler.
06:44When you could have
06:45cherry and blue icies,
06:47hey, why not?
06:48You can mix the two together.
06:49We had no care at all
06:50as children
06:51for how much sugar
06:52we were intaking into our bodies.
06:53But I do really like
06:54the look of his body.
06:56I like this blue icy color
06:57that they've given the blue.
06:58I'm not loving, though,
06:59that the gauntlets
07:00are a little messy
07:01in some of the areas.
07:02But, I mean,
07:03it's only really
07:04when you look at the top
07:04that you notice
07:05that there's a bit
07:05of paint bleed.
07:07Likely,
07:07they probably would have
07:08attached this,
07:09they would have sculpted
07:09this to the form
07:10and then gone in there
07:11and painted this.
07:12But there is just
07:12a little bit
07:13of goopiness.
07:15Goopiness
07:15right along the top.
07:17Again,
07:17we are using, though,
07:18an origin-style,
07:19a cartoon-style body.
07:21So what they've done,
07:21though,
07:22is they've taken
07:22the torso piece
07:23and sculpted this separately.
07:25If you wanted to
07:26and have Lady Luck
07:27hopefully behind you,
07:28you could pry this off.
07:29You could really take
07:30this entire torso piece off.
07:31The thing about it, though,
07:32is once you do this,
07:33I've done that with Webstore.
07:35Was it Webstore?
07:35I think it was Webstore.
07:37I peeled the back off
07:38just to show you guys
07:38in the review.
07:39I could never plug it
07:40back in place.
07:41Oh, Skeletor,
07:42send me back in time.
07:43I had only,
07:44I would have really loved
07:45to have corrected that.
07:46Unfortunately,
07:47like I said,
07:47you can peel this off
07:48if you want to.
07:48You would just take
07:49the entire body of an
07:50underneath that
07:51would be a cartoon
07:52collection body.
07:52Granted, though,
07:53it probably would be in blue.
07:54The color, though,
07:55for the yellow
07:55looks really nice.
07:56Obviously, when you
07:57turn it this way,
07:58it's going to kind of
07:58throw the alignment off.
08:00I like that this
08:00has also been sculpted
08:01and not just phoned in
08:02by just striping on
08:04a little bit of yellow.
08:05I do like the belt in black.
08:06That looks good, too.
08:07And he does also have
08:08some really classic
08:09looking cartoon boots.
08:10In fact,
08:11looking at the two,
08:12they seem to be using
08:13the same legs
08:14and same boots
08:14as his boss, Skeletor,
08:16right down to the fact
08:17that the figure does
08:18have the same pegles
08:18on the bottoms
08:19of his feet.
08:21For the figure's
08:21articulation,
08:22Fangman does have
08:23a full rotation
08:24for his head.
08:25We couldn't do this
08:26as much when we looked
08:27at the cartoon collection
08:28Grizzlor just because,
08:29again, his head
08:30was a little larger
08:30and he had the furry
08:32shoulder pads
08:32kind of all around him.
08:33But you could do it
08:34a whole lot easier,
08:35though, with Fangman.
08:36Head's going to look down.
08:37It's going to look up.
08:37You can also move it
08:38back and forth as well.
08:39Full rotation on the waist.
08:41Didn't you forget the arms?
08:42No, I didn't forget the arms.
08:43I wanted to mix it up
08:43just a little bit.
08:44Kind of keep you guys
08:45on your toes.
08:46Arms hinge out
08:47at a full T pose,
08:48a 90 degree if you prefer.
08:49The arms can move
08:50forward and back.
08:51You're going to have
08:52a harder time, though,
08:52to try to move it around
08:53because the width
08:54of his tunic
08:55and his shoulders
08:56are going to kind of
08:57be preventing that.
08:58But if you fight it
08:59and grunt the whole time,
09:01you can do that.
09:03He has no swivel
09:04in his bicep.
09:04He does, though,
09:05certainly have a swivel
09:06in his forearm.
09:07He also has a hinge there,
09:08too, so he can bend
09:08it back and forth.
09:10Hands rotate
09:10all the way around.
09:11They're a little tight
09:12on my figure,
09:12but they seem to still
09:13do the job.
09:14He can hinge them
09:15back and forth, too.
09:16Legs split out.
09:17We've already done
09:17the waist, after all.
09:18Legs split out.
09:19There's the ball joints
09:20working behind the scenes.
09:24You can take the legs
09:25and move forward
09:25only by just a little bit,
09:26though.
09:27You can also move them back.
09:28A little bit of a swivel
09:29at the top of the thigh.
09:32The figure does also
09:33have a single hinge
09:34in the knee.
09:34Rotate the lower leg.
09:35I couldn't help
09:36but I don't notice,
09:36though, with Fangman,
09:37maybe it's only on
09:38just my copy,
09:39that this lower leg
09:40and this other lower leg,
09:42for that matter,
09:42a little loose,
09:43a little loose side.
09:44The boot is technically
09:45a separate piece
09:46so they would have
09:46cast this in red plastic.
09:48They would have cast
09:48the leg in the blue plastic
09:49because of that you can
09:50swivel the boot
09:51back and forth on its own.
09:52Hinge the feet
09:53on their own,
09:54back and forth.
09:54You can also rock them
09:55back and forth this way, too.
09:57I know I already
09:57had disclosed this.
09:59I'll disclose it again.
09:59The figure does also
10:00have peggles
10:01on the bottoms
10:02of his feet.
10:03Fangman, though, yeah.
10:05Very short time,
10:06very short lineage
10:07when it comes to
10:07the cartoon figures
10:08in the sense that,
10:09really,
10:10I think it's only in
10:11just really the one episode
10:12and then now he's
10:12just stuck.
10:13Stuck on Dragasaur Isle,
10:15again,
10:16waiting for this guy
10:16to return.
10:17We know Skeletor
10:18with the way
10:19that he abandons plans.
10:20Even though he had
10:21the means to travel
10:21back in time,
10:22does he ever really
10:23do that much anymore
10:24in the cartoons?
10:25You'd think, though,
10:26that he could at least
10:26travel back to the days,
10:28maybe pick up Fangman.
10:29Fangman's still waiting,
10:30probably on a rock
10:31and maybe a boulder
10:32of some sort.
10:33Just wondering.
10:34I wonder if Skeletor
10:35is ever going to return.
10:36What can I do
10:38to pass the time away?
10:40Well, I can play
10:41with these dragosaurs.
10:42I can care for them.
10:43I can be their king.
10:44Waiting, waiting
10:45for Skeletor to return.
10:47Of course, the figure
10:47does, like I said,
10:48come included
10:48with the Infinity Wheel.
10:49I love that they
10:50include something like this.
10:52Pulled again from
10:52the episode
10:53The Time Corridor,
10:54so at least it's an episode
10:55that does happen
10:56to feature Fangman.
10:57But, you know,
10:57really outside of that episode
10:58and then the 2013 release
11:00that we got in the
11:01Master Universe Classics
11:02toy line from
11:02The Four Horsemen,
11:04it's about the only time
11:05we've ever gotten ourselves
11:06a Fangman.
11:06So I do appreciate,
11:07as deep of a cut
11:09as this may be,
11:10that we actually got
11:10ourselves a cartoon
11:11collection figure
11:12from Mattel.
11:13I don't know if we
11:13would ever really get
11:14one from,
11:14I don't think we ever
11:15got one from Origins.
11:17This one and the
11:18Classics line might be
11:19the only two examples
11:20of ever getting
11:21this character.
11:22It had been speculated
11:23that Fangman was a member
11:24of the Snakemen.
11:25Even though we didn't
11:26technically get a Fangman
11:27as part of the Origins,
11:29we did in fact get,
11:30though, Fang-Or.
11:31Fang-Or was part of
11:32the Snakemen and had
11:33very similar styles
11:35of features.
11:35He was the fearsome
11:36Fang Snake Scientist.
11:38I don't know,
11:39though,
11:39watching Fangman
11:40in the episode
11:41The Time Corridor,
11:42if I would ever make
11:43the assumption
11:43that he was a scientist.
11:45So they're probably
11:45two completely
11:46different characters.
11:47It's just kind of
11:47funny, though,
11:47that they have Fang
11:49at the beginning
11:49of their name.
11:50Fangman, though,
11:51I actually picked up
11:52at Entertainment Earth.
11:53Both him and Grizzlor
11:54were still available
11:55at the time
11:56that I wanted to
11:56order these guys.
11:57Orko, I think,
11:58was sold out,
11:59but then I ended up
11:59finding Orko
12:00in another place.
12:01With now this
12:02completed review
12:02of Fangman,
12:03I can now say
12:04I've finished off
12:05the cartoon collection
