00:00Well, I guess it's true after all. You gotta fake it until they make it.
00:03Here's a look at Mattel, He-Man, and the Master Universe Masterverse Vintage Collection Faker.
00:22This Master Universe action figure Faker joins the Vintage Collection.
00:26Designed at Masterverse 7-inch scale and inspired by the original Motu toy design,
00:30with 30 points of articulation, this blue-skinned He-Man imposter comes with a power sword, shield, and axe,
00:36as well as a removable die-cast robot recorder in his chest and extra set of hands.
00:40All the background banter, I'm sure, of how he's not a He-Man is probably making this man blue.
00:44Let's take, though, the tape measure, shall we, and see how tall the Master Universe Masterverse Vintage Collection Faker stands.
00:50And then speaking of that, He-Man will bring in his original Mold brother,
00:54even though he's not really obviously related.
00:56Let's take, though, the tape measure, as promised.
00:58Faker from the Vintage Collection is going to stand at 7 inches in height.
01:02Yeah, you can see it for yourself.
01:03That's going to translate, though, to a figure that's 18 centimeters tall.
01:06Not really loving the Mold, but it certainly has been a Mold we've already gotten from He-Man.
01:11The sizing, though, between the two figures may actually look like He-Man's just a little bit taller,
01:16but I think a lot of it really has to do as well with the wide stance that I've got currently for Faker.
01:20What was kind of alarming, though, is when I bring in Skeletor.
01:23Skeletor seems notably smaller.
01:26I think a lot of it really has probably to do with the length of his neck
01:29and probably just the way that the head is so lower down on that.
01:31But, yeah, considering that he is also a vintage figure,
01:35it's surprising that Skeletor comes up so short.
01:38Here's also what the figure looks like.
01:39With a reminder again, I need to get myself a brand new Faker.
01:42The new Eternia release of him.
01:43While liking the look of him, I still don't like the fact he's got this big smudge
01:47right across the top of his forehead.
01:49So I'm going to see if I can get a better Faker.
01:52And, of course, if we're also going to be looking at Faker, I love the look of this guy.
01:55I have to also bring in the origin version of him.
01:58I don't have the original vintage, but if I did, I'd certainly bring him in.
02:01Now, everybody, everybody, to the left, you'll see his sword.
02:04That was the thing inside the tray with him.
02:06Everything, though, to the right was inside of a little mystery bag that was inside of a compartment space
02:10that was only about yay big.
02:13It wasn't really even indicated.
02:15There was just a little tiny marker on the top just to tell you that that would be opened.
02:19But if you didn't see that marker, you'd miss the point altogether,
02:21and you'd likely throw away the packaging.
02:23So if you are opening up your Faker right now at the time of watching this video,
02:27which would be very coincidental,
02:29just make sure, of course, you pull out the bag and then, of course, rip it open.
02:33If you rip it open, inside you'll find the wonders of a shield and also a battle axe.
02:38The shield does have some really noticeably marbling effects, though.
02:43You can see, though, on the plastic.
02:45I don't really love the look of this.
02:46This, though, would have been the exact same shield we also got included with He-Man,
02:49and then also the same battle axe would have also been there as well.
02:52By the way that this has this kind of marbling markage,
02:55you can kind of see, though, it's not really quite the same color as the battle axe.
02:58The battle axe is a little bit more of a matte plastic.
03:00I think I actually would have preferred the shield to be the same.
03:03Both of them can be held in his hand.
03:05If you look on the back of the shield, there's a handle and then there's a loop.
03:08The loop goes through his forearm.
03:09I'm only going to indicate right now with my pointer finger,
03:11and then he'd be able to grip on the end of that.
03:14Yeah, the shield is okay.
03:15I just don't think...
03:17I think the marbling takes a little bit away from that.
03:19I like the look of the battle axe, though.
03:21And, of course, this does fit into his hands.
03:22He does have some swappable hand available options, too.
03:25On this side, if you don't like the look of a gripping hand,
03:27that could be swapped out with a closed fist.
03:29Good for punching He-Man.
03:30On this side, though, the figure does also have a swappable hand.
03:33So if you don't want to have a relaxed hand like he has right now,
03:36even though, honestly, this is the better hand for him to hold the shield,
03:39because you just easily slide the hand up there and then take the handle and fit it around his hand.
03:44That's not going to be going anywhere.
03:46When you start to swap out hands, though,
03:47now you have to contend with the idea of trying to fit these blasted fingers around the handle.
03:52I know sometimes it's also easier just to kind of clip this around the handle first
03:55and then try your best to attach it onto the forearm.
03:58But if you want to go with shields, I find this is the better hand for holding the shield.
04:01It doesn't really serve necessarily as a gripping hand,
04:04but I think it does the better job of holding the shield.
04:07Let's go ahead and take his battle axe, put it into the other hand as well.
04:10And then after that, we'll look at his power sword.
04:13There's his battle axe on one side, shield on the other.
04:16Nice, nice, nice.
04:18What's also nice, too, is the figure does also come in clear with his variation of power sword.
04:21Now, everything's decked out here in more of a copper color.
04:24This happens to be the same sword.
04:27He-Man had one, too.
04:28I just happen to have Skeletors on the ready.
04:30It's the same molding of sword as what Skeletor got.
04:33I do really like, though, that they've added a darker color to a Skeletor sword.
04:38I honestly think, really, like, the coloring works really well.
04:40I know, like, the shield's a little bit on a darker coloring of that same kind of scale,
04:44but I think, like, the lighter color, if they stuck to this,
04:47I think the gold would have worked all better with the three accessories.
04:51Now, the sword can be held in his hands.
04:53You can also, as well, look on the back of his body.
04:55And there's a holster on the back.
04:57Now, he's using the same armor, really, as Skeletor, and that works the same way.
05:01He basically just holstered the sword on the back.
05:02So, at any given point, while he doesn't have, really, the powers to pull from Greyskull,
05:07at least he can pull out and draw the sword on the back of his armor.
05:12Okay.
05:13Let's go ahead and remove his battle axe right now.
05:16We'll go ahead and just remove his shield.
05:17And let's slide out his sword.
05:21Getting a closer look, though, at Faker.
05:23Now, Faker does have, obviously, the same build and body of He-Man.
05:27He also happens to be using the exact same face.
05:30I didn't love this He-Man head sculpt.
05:32The longer, though, I've had this on my shelf,
05:34not that I've really warmed up to it,
05:36but I don't dislike it as much as I did before.
05:39I find, though, that Faker, even though it is using the same head,
05:43seems to do the head a little bit better.
05:45I don't know if it's just the fact that his features look a little bit more sharper, perhaps,
05:49that he also doesn't have all the additional darker, kind of dingier, dirtier face that He-Man had.
05:55But I feel like Faker does the head a little bit better.
05:58The bodies are exactly the same.
05:59The armor also is, and we're going to talk about more of that in a moment,
06:02the arms, the biceps, the forearms.
06:04Even, like, the loincloth seems to be exactly the same.
06:07Also, just, like, Faker's doing it a little bit different in color.
06:10The legs are also shared between the two.
06:12And you also see, as well, he does have the same furry boots.
06:15Located on the bottoms of both their feet are peg holes.
06:19So if you want to attach these things on the display stain, you can certainly do that.
06:22So that's what he's boring from He-Man.
06:24What he is boring, though, from Skeletor is the same top armor piece.
06:28Although Skeletor also would have had a lot more of the nicer purple that they painted on the front,
06:33Faker doesn't really have a whole lot of that.
06:35He's kind of got a little bit more of that kind of darker gold-silver.
06:38It's on the front.
06:39It's on the sides there as well.
06:40And beaded along the top flaps of the shoulder straps.
06:43Not really shoulder straps.
06:45On the back of his body, though, you can detach the armor in the same way that pretty much all the MOTU figures would do.
06:51Now, what's interesting, though, is if you detach it on one side, do it on the other.
06:55We'll go ahead and pop Faker's head off.
06:57I did want to show you guys what his armor looks like off, because one thing that's notable about Faker, he does have a little control panel here.
07:06The panel would have had, like, little wheels that would have rotated.
07:08This would be old-time computer talk in here, like little wheels that would have rotated.
07:13Every time you kind of go back and watch those old sci-fi films from, like, the 70s and early 80s, computers would generally be, like, an entire room full of those.
07:21And then you'd usually have these long tablets, like cabinets, where all these things would be rotating and have little lights flashing.
07:27Faker has that.
07:28It kind of actually looks like he's more of a...
07:29It looks kind of like a robotic face.
07:31The eyes, the nose, kind of somewhat of a mouth.
07:35What's interesting, though, is I think some of the read-up was faked online, because they actually described this as a removable die-cast piece.
07:43There's two things really wrong with that.
07:44First of all, I can't seem to remove it at all.
07:46I don't think it's supposed to be intended to be removed.
07:48Second of all, I don't think it's die-cast.
07:50I think it's just plastic.
07:52I mean, really, why would Mattel choose to have this being die-cast when everything else on the figure is clearly just in plastic?
07:59So, yeah, there is a little bit of faking out that's been done here.
08:02Not removable, not being die-cast, but at least he does have this sculpted.
08:05It's not just a sticker.
08:08Also, if you want to put the armor back on, you're just going to go ahead and fit it on top of his head.
08:12Super, super easy to strap back in place.
08:15One side is done already, and we'll just do the other side here.
08:20Yeah, like, the armor looks okay for Faker.
08:24I mean, obviously, if you like the motif of blue and orange.
08:26I mean, two colors that really shouldn't go well together.
08:29Faker's really always been known for that.
08:31The one thing that they did do differently, as I go ahead and pop his head back in place,
08:35when we did get the new Eternia release of Faker,
08:37Faker had more of the colors kind of in this dark red.
08:40I also really thought the colors of his body was a little bit nicer with the blue.
08:43The one thing I would also say, too, and I just sort of hold the two so you guys can say,
08:47they're not using really not much of the same body.
08:50Like, the same lower legs, torso clearly is a lot bigger on the vintage release.
08:55And yes, this figure does also have a big spear right across the tops of his forehead.
09:01Such a shame.
09:02It's such a shame when you order a figure online,
09:03then you get the figure and you're like, oh, this is just a disaster.
09:06Do I want to return it?
09:07Do I have to get the label slapping on the box, pack up the box,
09:11send it on its merry little way, wait to get the refund, order a new figure,
09:14or do I just stick with the one that I have?
09:15Clearly, I just stuck with the one that I have.
09:18The one thing I will also say, too, is that the colors are pretty close to the origins.
09:23Although I really wish, though, they could have done the darker blue.
09:25The lighter blue works okay, but I think if you're really going to go with Faker,
09:28I don't expect him to have the bright red hair.
09:31But I do think, though, the blue would have worked a little bit better.
09:33Had it been maybe this color and not the lighter.
09:36Now for the Faker's articulation,
09:38Faker does have all basically the same postability points as He-Man.
09:41Head's going to rotate all the way around.
09:43It's going to hinge up and down.
09:45And also you can move it back and forth as well.
09:48Not really much, just because the shoulders are going to get in the way of things.
09:51Speaking of, hey, the shoulders getting in the way of things,
09:54rotating his arm all the way around can be a little problematic.
09:57Just because these little flap things sticking out.
10:00The arms, however, can be pulled out at a 90 degree angle bend.
10:03You can also swivel the bicep, double hinge on the elbow.
10:07Hands rotate all the way around.
10:09Now that's granted using the hands that we have right now.
10:12Say if you did want to swap out the hands.
10:14Let's just go ahead and pop this one off right now.
10:17I really wasn't planning to do this,
10:18but just to show you guys what the hand looks like when it's removed.
10:21The hands are extremely tight.
10:23It doesn't help either that I've got myself some moisturizer on my own hands.
10:26Just go ahead and pop the hands off the pegs.
10:28Why is this being so difficult?
10:30Why did I also want to show you guys there?
10:32There we go.
10:32Is that you can also remove the guard.
10:34If you don't like the look of the guard on the forearm,
10:36just, hey, slide it off.
10:37Just put it to the side and never talk to it again.
10:40But just to take that off,
10:41I'm going to swap it out with the gripping hand.
10:44So, of course, if Faker then wants to double wield his weapons,
10:46you can do that easily.
10:48Not so easily as taking off the hand, but you can see.
10:51The upper torso is going to be on a very good ball joint.
10:54I mean, he's got quite a lot of mass here for the top of his torso.
10:58The figure does also have just a standard swivel for his waist.
11:01Splitting on the legs is easy to do
11:02when you have yourself ball joints working behind the scenes.
11:05The figure does have three quarters of the way up the thigh.
11:09There's a swivel cut, so you can swivel that back and forth.
11:11The figure does also have a double hinge on the knee,
11:13which is really tight here on this figure.
11:15Swivel on the boots.
11:16Ankle pivot up and down.
11:18Ankle rocker back and forth.
11:19And I already mentioned the figure does also have
11:21piggles on the undersides of his feet.
11:23Good-looking Faker?
11:24Not a bad-looking Faker.
11:25Yeah.
11:26You know, I always really...
11:27There's something to be said about blue-clad imposters
11:31between Faker and then NES Jason Voorhees.
11:34I mean, what a stretch when it comes to comparing those figures.
11:37I've always really been a big fan of Faker.
11:39Also, the designs of him have changed over the years.
11:42Also, the New Eternia decided not to go with orange.
11:44Instead, kind of this darker purplish-red.
11:46I thought it still worked okay for Faker.
11:48Still don't like...
11:49Yeah.
11:51On top of his head.
11:52What's strange, though, is while he is using the same body as He-Man,
11:55that would be clearly the case,
11:56because obviously he's just an imposter of He-Man,
11:58it's strange, though, that he's shorter than Skeletor.
12:00Or that Skeletor, I should say, is the other way around.
12:02Is shorter than Faker.
12:04He seems to be using the same body,
12:06but I think something somehow got lost from the lower half of Skeletor
12:09that causes that figure to be a little bit shorter.
12:11From an accessory standpoint, while he's boring the body of He-Man,
12:14he's also boring over the same power sword,
12:16the same one that was also then used for Skeletor.
12:18I love the looks of these.
12:20I don't love the shield.
12:22I know we've already kind of spent time already talking about it.
12:24It's, I think, a little too dark.
12:26I think it also does have a lot more marbling to it.
12:29I wish, though, that they could have cast the shield
12:31in the same plastic that they cast for the sword.
12:34Something was molded differently between one and the other.
12:36I think the shield doesn't look as good as the sword,
12:38but at least he does have three accessories to wield.
12:41You and I both know that he's boring over the body from He-Man.
12:44Yet, though, I find Faker makes use of the mold the best
12:46out of the three figures so far that we've had a look at.
12:49It draws less attention just to how big the body actually is.
12:52A lot of it, I think, can also be contributed to the fact
12:55he's also using the armor from Skeletor.
12:56Skeletor still looks swollen in the top of his body,
13:00and so did He-Man, really.
13:01But somehow, though, using the armor from Skeletor,
13:04primarily the body mostly from He-Man,
13:06because, again, like Skeletor seemed a little bit shorter,
13:08I find, again, like so far,
13:10Faker is the best of the vintage collection.
13:12He's not without flaws, though.
13:14While I think the coloring of his armor looks really nice,
13:16I do feel, though, the coloring of the blue
13:18could have been a little bit darker.
13:20Not super dark like New Eternia Faker,
13:23but if it would just maybe have been a closer color
13:25to what we got with the Origins Faker,
13:27I think we would have had a much better-looking Faker.
13:29This one's neat, too, because if you take off the armor,
13:31you can see that they didn't just phone it in
13:33by putting on an adhesive label or sticker.
13:36No, they did actually sculpt in
13:38all the computer electronics that are built to his body.
13:41Although even advertised online,
13:42they say removable, they say die-cast.
13:45Neither one exists here for Faker.
13:47It's sculpted there, yes,
13:49but I don't think you can remove it.
13:50If you can, I think you're only going to be removing
13:52at the expense of damaging the figure's body,
13:54and I don't want to do that.
13:56Now, I did order this one from Amazon.
13:58It seemed to take forever.
13:59I actually ordered it from a third-party seller.
14:01I ordered it, and I think I had to wait
14:03about three and a half weeks
14:05for this thing to finally arrive.
14:06It's not to say that you probably
14:07couldn't have ordered this elsewhere.
14:09I think it's well now worth it
14:10that I finally can add a Faker on the shelf
14:12with the rest of the Fakers I've been collecting,
14:14along with the Origins,
14:15along with the damaged-looking Faker
14:17that had the smudged smear
14:18on the top of his forehead.
14:19Instead, I'm definitely going to have to get myself
14:21another new Eternia Faker.
14:23But what do you guys, though,
14:23think of the Vintage Collection Faker?
14:25Not a bad-looking figure, eh?
14:27Are you guys also liking the look of the bodies,
14:28or do you also feel like
14:29the top of the torso are still too big?
14:31Some would come from the camp
14:33that would say, like,
14:34hey, buddy, you've got to realize, too,
14:35the original Master of the Universe figures
14:36from the 80s would have had
14:37a very large top torso.
14:39I get that, though,
14:40but I feel like maybe the top pectoral area
14:43from, like, his stomach area up
14:45I think is still a little too big.
14:47If you guys didn't, in the meantime,
14:48enjoy this video,
14:49you can do it, of course,
14:50with this all by hitting it with a like.
14:52You guys want to stick around for more so?
14:54Yeah, I hope so.
14:54Hit that subscribe,
14:56turn on that bell,
14:56you're going to get the reminders
14:57every single time a new video posts,
14:59and, of course, come back.
15:01We're maybe wrapping up things right now
15:02in the world of Masterverse,
15:03but there will be more videos
15:05coming your way
15:05in the upcoming days.
15:07So making sure you're coming back for those.
15:09As always, thanks for watching.
15:11See you guys next time.
