00:00I think you can forget about the five-second rule here.
00:03Here's a look at McFarlane Toys, Movie Maniacs, The Office, Kevin Malone.
00:19Kevin Malone from the fan-favorite TV series The Office joins the Movie Maniacs line of figures from McFarlane Toys.
00:25Each figure features a detailed sculpt and includes a secret accessory.
00:28I bet if you asked him, he'd tell you the trick is to undercook the onions.
00:32Before we get a close look at the Movie Maniacs, Kevin Malone from The Office.
00:35I'd like to thank the folks over at McFarlane Toys that did provide this sample.
00:39Kevin Malone should be available right now.
00:41Some of the online sites still list him as being available starting in May 2025.
00:45Anybody looking at their outdated calendar will tell you, well, it's May right now.
00:49Taking as course as well the tape measure, let's see how tall the figure stands.
00:52Kevin Malone, while still having chili in his hand, stands at six and three-quarters of an inch in height.
00:57That works out to be a figure that's 16 and a half centimeters tall.
01:01Technically, we did get ourselves a Steve Carell, although it wasn't Steve Carell playing Michael Scott.
01:06It was Steve Carell playing Andy Stitzer from 40-Year-Old Virgin.
01:10If you'd like to stand him in at least pretending to be Michael,
01:12of course, now you have yourself a Kevin Malone to be displayed along with him.
01:15Of course, we've got some freed up space on this side.
01:18Let's bring in another Movie Maniacs using, of course, the same design display stand.
01:21I don't think Matthew McConaughey ever really did appear in an episode of The Office,
01:25but here's what he looks like as David Wooderson.
01:27Tell us, Magic Storyteller, what accessories come in clear with Kevin Malone?
01:31Well, first, the figure does come in clear with a backdrop.
01:33This will actually slot onto the back of the display stand.
01:36The thing that's kind of weird about this, though, is that they chose to use an image advertising The Office Season 7.
01:42You can kind of know because if you look up Office Season 7,
01:45Pam is always wearing kind of this purple top and gray skirt.
01:47Yet, though, the episode starring Kevin Malone spilling his world-famous chili,
01:52it was actually Season 5.
01:54So this card dates the spilling of the chili by another two seasons on top of that.
01:59I think if they're going to have this specific, more famous moment in The Office history,
02:04I think it probably would have made the more sense to have probably a Season 5 backdrop with the cast featured there.
02:09Although, one thing better, I just also wanted to bring in the back card that was inside the box.
02:14You can see that there's the inside.
02:15And I'm guessing this is Michael Scott's office.
02:18Yeah, there's Stanley off to the far corner.
02:19He's probably ticked off about something.
02:21I would rather have honestly had this been the image instead of just some promotional art.
02:26Because the thing about this, though, is while this is obviously still taking advertising the season,
02:31the moment you put it, though, behind Kevin Malone, it blocks everything.
02:36It blocks everything.
02:36I mean, yeah, you can still see Pam, and I don't mind that being a thing at all.
02:39But I think just having a backdrop of Dunder Mifflin would have made a little bit more sense.
02:45One thing you can also do, too, is if you flip this around to the back, it's got the Certificate of Authenticity.
02:50This certifies that the limited edition worldwide product, Kevin Malone Figurine,
02:53is authentic and officially licensed by McFarlane Toys.
02:56The figurine was created, developed, and designed by Todd McFarlane and his award-winning group.
03:01Out of the run of, I don't want to say limited run, but out of the run of 3,750,
03:05Kevin Malone here, the one provided to me, was number 7.
03:09So we'll put that off to the side.
03:10Of course, over here, over here, you've got yourself a foil bag.
03:13Let's open up the foil bag and see what contents we have to share with you guys inside.
03:19Is there a perforation? There's a perforation right there.
03:21Let's carefully rip this.
03:23I would imagine it's probably going to be stickers.
03:25Maybe it's going to be a picture of Pam Beasley.
03:27I don't know.
03:27Oh, man, I hope it is.
03:29It's not.
03:30It's not.
03:30What we get, though, instead, is an advertisement for Shroot Farms,
03:34which is, I think, was going to be a potential spinoff from The Office,
03:38yet it just never went into fruition.
03:40I don't think Shroot Farms would have been all that interesting,
03:43although we are now going to be getting a new paper product-related,
03:46well, new office.
03:47It's going to, I think, be based on a newspaper instead of a paper plant.
03:51I'm looking forward to that.
03:52I tried watching The Office, The Australian Office.
03:55I didn't like it.
03:56I didn't like it at all.
03:56So there's Shroot Farms, abandoned.
03:58And then also, hey, look at this,
04:00a cartoon version of Kevin Malone carrying around his chili.
04:04Oh, so sad what happens to Kevin.
04:06I'm sure everybody who's fans of The Office have already seen that clip.
04:10I mean, it's making the rounds.
04:11The moment you type in Kevin Malone on YouTube, for example,
04:15it's the very first thing that you see him walking through
04:17and spilling, of course, his chili all over the floor
04:20and doing his best to kind of grab the stuff from Pam's desk
04:23and scoop it up, like the paper sorting trays and everything.
04:26He's scooping up the chili he's putting in.
04:27Eventually, he just slides all over the chili.
04:29One thing that's unfortunately sad, though,
04:32is while he still holds the chili,
04:34I think it would have been clever had they found a way
04:36to incorporate a removal lid
04:37so that you could take the lid off.
04:40Mmm, smell those ancho chilies.
04:42Obviously, just be careful that you're not going to spill it.
04:44But having a removal lid, I think, could have gone a really long way,
04:47considering that so much of this figure is Satchu.
04:50Anyways, like there's nothing really you can do here with Kevin.
04:53Some would really say you're doing as much with Kevin
04:55as he can actually do in Dunder Mifflin anyways.
04:57Head sculpt, I think, looks very much like the part.
05:00Whether you would really question the validity
05:01of having a character like this being a movie maniac.
05:04I, first of all, he's not a movie maniac.
05:06He's been in movies.
05:08I think he was in Family Man?
05:10Family Man, perhaps with Nicolas Cage?
05:12He's been in other movies also as well,
05:14but very few, very few and far between.
05:16I don't know if I would also call Kevin Malone,
05:18of all characters, a maniac.
05:20Still, though, of course, he's got himself his oven mitts on
05:23to make sure that he's not going to be burning his fingers
05:25while he's carefully carrying in the chili.
05:27Again, I think the head sculpt's really good on him.
05:30I don't suspect we're going to be getting
05:32any more office characters released for movie maniacs.
05:34I mean, even just the thought alone sounds preposterous.
05:37I would be certainly happy
05:38if they could do some more office characters.
05:40I mean, again, we've got ourselves an Andy.
05:42Why not give us a Michael Scott?
05:43I mean, you would think that Steve Carell
05:45would have probably have already signed off a likeness on that.
05:47Give us a Michael Scott.
05:49Maybe that cringeworthy Michael Scott meme,
05:52of course, where he's got his teeth gritting.
05:53I think that would be a really good selection
05:55for a movie maniac character.
05:57But back, though, to Kevin.
05:58Kevin, of course, does have his brown suit.
06:00There's no posability at play at all here.
06:03You can't move the arms around.
06:04You can't move the head around.
06:05If you were to try to move Kevin's head,
06:07it'd only be breaking off,
06:09and then you'd be really disappointed by that.
06:12The silver, though, of the carrying,
06:13well, I guess the big pot that he has of the chili
06:15does bring some nice color.
06:16So, in otherwise, pretty much all brown character.
06:19The nice blue gloves also there as well.
06:21Down below, you can see there's Kevin Malone.
06:24They've also got Office here on the top
06:25with, I guess, a little bit of the suggestion carpet
06:28of what eventually will have chili all over it.
06:30You've got to imagine,
06:31from just even the set design of that whole scene,
06:33it probably would have been a one-time
06:35and one-time-only shoot.
06:37If he had done it wrong,
06:39they would have had to have cleaned the carpet.
06:40They would have had to re-prep the chili
06:42or whatever else it was inside the pot.
06:44And he, a lot of pressure for that actor
06:46to do it with one take alone.
06:49Still, though, I don't know, really.
06:51I mean, while a figure, obviously,
06:52and I say this as a figure,
06:54while it's a statue,
06:55the only thing that kind of, again,
06:56really kind of has me scratching
06:57is being a big Office fan.
07:00I mean, this, again, takes place in Season 5,
07:02yet they chose to include Season 7
07:04as the advertisement.
07:05Some would really say, like,
07:06buddy, who really cares?
07:08I mean, you could display, obviously,
07:09with a back card like this.
07:11What I might even be tempted to do, though,
07:13even though I don't think
07:14Kevin's going to be carrying around,
07:15he never makes it inside
07:16Michael Scott's office.
07:17I might even just decide
07:18to display it like that.
07:19I mean, obviously,
07:20the rest of my movie maniacs
07:21on my shelf don't tend to look like that.
07:23They usually have the back card behind them.
07:25But I think in a case like this,
07:27it just doesn't make any sense.
07:28When you have characters like this featured,
07:30and then you have, of course,
07:31a subject in front of it,
07:32it's only just going to be blocking
07:33whatever's in front
07:34or whatever's obvious behind it.
07:36I think something like this
07:37would have made a little bit more sense,
07:38even though, unfortunately, the chili,
07:40I guess, for good luck for Michael Scott,
07:42the chili never finds its way
07:44to spill inside his office.
07:45It spills only in the outer interior
07:47of the office instead.
07:48Hey, listen, I'm like the next guy.
07:50I would question Kevin Malone
07:51really being a movie maniac,
07:52unless perhaps there is a cut scene
07:54of the Office documentary
07:55where Kevin one day just snapped
07:57and started chucking staplers at people.
07:59That's the Kevin Malone
08:01that I would like to see.
08:02Even though when he spilled chili
08:03that took him hours to produce,
08:05all night, in fact,
08:06he seemed like he was still
08:07taking things well.
08:09Yeah, he was frustrated.
08:10He was slipping on his own chili
08:11and finding frustration,
08:13obviously trying to get as much
08:14as he could back into the pot.
08:16Kevin still seemed to be holding his own.
08:18Unless, again, the camera cut away
08:19where Kevin Malone just lost it.
08:23Just lost it.
08:24Speaking of losing things,
08:26I haven't lost anything just yet.
08:27I don't know if I'm going to necessarily lose it,
08:29but I think I'm probably going to be
08:31putting the back card back in the box.
08:33Yeah.
08:34Displaying this guy on the shelf without one,
08:35I don't feel like it's going to be
08:36missing anything necessarily,
08:38but I really would have preferred
08:39to have a Dunder Mifflin background
08:41instead of what we get instead.
08:42I mean, it usually is the case
08:44where we get posters, movie posters,
08:45of what the character's taken from.
08:48But with a thing like Office,
08:49I think a background would have made
08:50a little bit more sense.
08:51What do you guys think of Kevin Malone?
08:53Let me know down below
08:53in the comments section.
08:54I know we can kind of all agree
08:56that Kevin Malone really doesn't belong
08:57as a movie maniac,
08:58but he certainly belongs
08:59in one of my favorite series of all time.
09:01I love The Office.
09:02I often go back and re-watch The Office,
09:04sometimes in order,
09:05sometimes out of order.
09:07I'm looking forward to seeing
09:07the newspaper office
09:09that we're going to be getting soon.
09:11I don't know,
09:11probably it's not going to be as good
09:12as the original OG office,
09:14or some would say,
09:15obviously,
09:15the British office is the OG office.
09:18I never liked the British office.
09:19I always liked the US one
09:20a little bit more.
09:21Actually, in fact,
09:22speaking of which,
09:23for your video question for today,
09:24which do you think
09:25was the better office?
09:26The UK office
09:27or the one that we got
09:28in the United States
09:29or North America?
09:30Let me know down below.
09:32A big thank you again
09:32to the folks over at McFarlane Toys
09:33that did provide this sample
09:35of the movie maniacs.
09:35Meh, I don't know.
09:36Maybe.
09:38The Office, Kevin Malone,
09:39with Chili still intact.
09:41It's not going to last that long, though.
09:43If you guys did enjoy this video,
09:44do it as a solid throw to like.
09:46You guys want to stick around
09:46for more stuff?
09:47I hope so.
09:48While we may be questioning again
09:50whether this guy's a movie maniac,
09:51I can tell you, though,
09:52the next movie maniac figure
09:54that we're going to be looking at
09:54is, in fact,
09:56quite in a movie
09:57and quite a maniac.
09:58We're going to be looking forward
09:59to doing that
10:00in the next upcoming review.
10:01So, as always,
10:01thanks for watching.
10:02See you guys next time.
