Cardiff will be hosting a different worldwide musical act almost every week this summer, so visitors to the city centre are being urged to plan ahead to avoid disruption. Extra park and ride facilities, road closures and more trains will all be in effect throughout July, so it’s important to check ahead.
00:00Cardiff is gearing up for a huge summer of live music, with the Principality Stadium hosting back-to-back concerts from now until August 1st.
00:09Acts like Oasis, Stereophonics, Kendrick Lamar and Catfish and the Bottlemen will bring thousands into the heart of the city, and of course that means major travel disruption.
00:18To keep everyone safe, road closures will be in force around the city centre.
00:23For the Oasis concerts on July 4th and 5th, road closures come from midday. For all other concerts, including Stereophonics and Kendrick Lamar, the full city centre road closures start at 3pm.
00:35The affected streets include Castle Street, Westgate Street, St Mary's Street and Central Square, which are all key routes that wrap around the stadium and Cardiff Central Station.
00:44Scott Road and Park Street, immediately outside the Principality, will be closed from 7am on event days to help manage queues.
00:52Penarth Road, just south of Central Station, will also close around half an hour before each concert ends to safely manage the flow of train passengers leaving the city.
01:00With the M4 expected to be extremely busy, drivers are being urged to use park and ride facilities at Cardiff Bay Sports Village.
01:07From there, shuttle buses will run into the city centre, with a final return service shortly after midnight.
01:13For those taking the train, Transport for Wales and Great Western Railway will run extra and longer services, but rail passengers should check for engineering works,
01:21particularly on services from Bristol, and know their last train home.
01:25A queuing system will be in place from 10pm outside Cardiff Central, with separate queues for valleys and mainline services.
01:31It's shaping up to be a spectacular summer of music for the capital, so if you're in the centre for gigs or anything else on event days,
01:38make sure you plan ahead to avoid the usual problems.
