00:00Cardiff's musical summer is hitting off big time.
00:04Last week, one of the most highly anticipated tours in recent memory kicked off here in Cardiff when Oasis came to town.
00:11Now it's the return of some local heroes as Stereophonics take to the stage behind me at the Principality Stadium for two massive concerts on Friday and Saturday night.
00:20These gigs are part of their Stadium Anthem Summer 25 tour, celebrating their new album Make Em Laugh, Make Em Cry, Make Em Wait, which came out in April this year.
00:29The tour began in early June and has taken the band across the UK and Ireland and some parts of Europe, including Dublin, Glasgow and London.
00:38The gigs in Cardiff mark the end of their summer tour and what the homecoming it promises to be as the return for their first time since 2022.
00:47We're taking a look at all the information that you need if you go into the shows or if you're anywhere near Cardiff this weekend, as things look to get very busy indeed.
00:57Gates will be opening at 5pm on both days, giving fans plenty of time to get settled.
01:02Supporting the Stereophonics will be Finn Forster and indie rockers Blossoms.
01:06The main act Stereophonics are expected to take the stage at around 8.15pm, performing a mix of their greatest hits, along with fresh tracks from their new album.
01:13Now let's take a look at the difficult bits. Let's talk logistics.
01:16We all know how much events in the Principality dominate the city centre and they'll be buzzing and busy around these concert days.
01:22Keep things safe and manageable, several road closures and travel disruptions will be in effect.
01:28From 3pm to midnight on both concert days, Friday and Saturday, key roads around the stadium will be closed to traffic.
01:34This includes Kingsway, Duke Street, Castle Street, High Street, St. Mary Street, Caroline Street, Wood Street, Central Square, Westgate Street,
01:41right outside the stadium just behind me, Park Street, Scott Road and a few others.
01:46If you're driving, it's important to know that Scott Road and Park Street will close even earlier at 7am on Friday and Saturday.
01:52These closures are to prepare the crowd queuing and manage entry at the Gate 5 on the stadium.
01:57Additionally, Panarth Road will be closed starting 30 minutes before the concert ends, roughly around 10.10.30,
02:03and will remain closed for up to an hour afterwards.
02:05This helps control the flow of people leaving the venue.
02:08Because of these closures, expect significant congestion on the main roads leading into Cardiff, including the M4 motorway.
02:15Parking close to the stadium is completely limited.
02:17Many on-street parking spots near the venue will be restricted to resident only during the event.
02:23For a much, much smoother experience, public transport is highly recommended.
02:27Transport for Wales and Great Western Railway will run extra train services to and from Cardiff Central on both evenings.
02:33However, some planned engineering works may still affect certain train times.
02:37So it's a good idea to check schedules before you travel.
02:40Expect crowds to queue for trains starting around 10pm.
02:43Queuing areas will be up on Central Square for mainline services and behind the station for valley lines.
02:49If you're coming in by bus, be aware that the main bus interchange in Cardiff will close from 3pm on these days.
02:54Alternative bus stops will be used, so it's probably easiest to check local notices for the best routes.
