Cardiff has got to be one of the greenest cities in Europe. Just a stones throw from the city centre, one of Wales’ biggest parks hides away behind the iconic Cardiff Castle, and there are plenty more just a short walk from the high street. We’re finding out what people love about Cardiff’s parks.

00:00yeah it's lovely it's a lovely oasis in the middle of the city yeah it's absolutely beautiful yeah
00:08yeah city centres are often quite stressful built up grey places full of people coming
00:15and going to work and shopping cars roads and you wouldn't think that where i am right now
00:20is literally two minutes from the centre of cardiff i'm here in butte park one of the biggest parks
00:25in the city one of quite a few of the city centre as well and i'm here and what people have to
00:29say and how lucky they feel to have such a beautiful green space quite so close to the
00:34grey bit by there it's absolutely yeah yeah we probably walk through here probably once a week
00:40i should imagine i got kevin on park as well i walk around the lake a few times so yes i think we are
00:46spoiled there's no getting away from that we're very lucky indeed it's lovely we've got all the flowers
00:51here beautiful place coffee shops got everything you need really isn't it just a lounge have a picnic
00:57with our little one we do it all the time come down here beautiful park i mean victoria park all
01:03of them all around the city is beautiful they're very well kept yeah absolutely yes much appreciated
01:11yeah we're regulars we walk through here regularly and appreciate all the different plants and trees
01:18it's really good very lucky to have it of course you are yeah yeah this is going to consult this place
01:24great i come here every time we come to cardiff no one wife goes shopping i come in by here
01:31it's a shame i gotta go i could sit by here all day
01:36of course plenty of cities do have parks around the city centre but none of them are quite as big
01:40as roath park which spans four absolutely miles down the taff and not many cities have quite as many
01:45so close to the centre we've got a few around the civic area around the museum we've got this one which is
01:50literally two minutes from the centre roath park victoria park there's absolutely loads the cardiff
01:55boasts yeah yeah yeah i've heard i don't know how true it is but we have more green spaces in cardiff
02:03than any other city in the world not in the world in the uk i don't know whether that's true i'm not sure
02:08you've got the one off as well you know so many of them yeah very very many for a while because i
02:15don't live in cardiff anymore no i don't either but born and bred here and i've always appreciated the um
02:20the parks here and the you know one way they continue yeah yeah absolutely beautiful so you
02:27you know people of cardiff are very very lucky yeah absolutely yeah i mean all like all my friends it's
02:33like what should we do let's go to the park like it's just such a like go-to for us and it's such
02:39a nice space to hang out and i think it's nice that there's lots of different like pockets and
02:43like sections of it as well um so no matter what like they've got some like football fields so if
02:48you want to do sports if you want to just go for a nice walk if you want to just chill like you've got
02:51different like spaces for that and i think that's really nice to be able to like break it up a little bit as
02:56sounds
