Light at the end of the Cardiff Parkway tunnel

A brand new train station for Cardiff is set to reach the next stage of planning after years of back and forth over proposals and logistics of the site. Cardiff Parkway, as it will be called is set to be built between Cardiff and Newport and have a business park built alongside it.

00:00South Wales has been seeing different travel infrastructure built all over the place.

00:07New train lines, road upgrades, a tram line and even additional cycling routes, the South

00:11Wales Metro is changing travel around the Greater Cardiff region in the short term and

00:16long term.

00:19One of the biggest introductions set for the next few years will be the proposed Cardiff

00:22Parkway station built near St Melons between Cardiff and Newport.

00:28And now in 2025, a long saga over the planning of the project could soon be coming to an

00:32end and is set to officially be put into place over the next few weeks.

00:38Cardiff Council unanimously called on the Welsh Government to make a final decision

00:41over the plans by the end of the month, but the Llyd Ed Morgan's government could only

00:45confirm that they would be making a decision at the earliest opportunity.

00:49It's been a long old story for Cardiff Parkway, but regardless of the exact dates, it seems

00:55there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
