00:00Stop struggling!
00:02You've got a doctor all over it.
00:03I can just rub his bit all over it.
00:05That's true, actually.
00:06Hey, dickheads, I won't be out of the end of the hour.
00:08It's been me, last time.
00:10Yeah, I remember you.
00:12Can you get these handcuffs off?
00:14Please, I'm asking nicely...
00:16At the moment, at the moment...
00:18Do you understand me f***ing standing?
00:20No! What gives you the rights of copper?
00:22You're just a normal person.
00:23Because you've committed offences.
00:24I didn't think, what, riding your bike round town?
00:26No.
00:27Your hockey stick would fall in your pocket.
00:28Whoopi-doo, look at your dickheads.
00:29So I'm going to authorise your detention
00:31so that you can be interviewed.
00:32Nothing's going to happen to you until tomorrow morning, because...
00:34Bullocks! Bullocks! Bullocks! Bullocks! Bullocks! Bullocks!
00:38Bullocks! Bullocks! Bullocks!
00:40M3, please.
00:41M3, please.
00:42No way! I've got to find this!
00:44Morning!
00:46I can't imagine what it would be like
00:47if you suddenly had someone like that
00:49interfering in your life, standing outside your house.
00:59Once a suspect is in custody, the police have 24 hours to investigate and interview.
01:12After that, it's either charge or release.
01:16You have been arrested on suspicion of human trafficking.
01:19On suspicion of stalking.
01:21On suspicion of GBH.
01:23Position and making of indecent images of children.
01:26On suspicion of conspiracy to murder.
01:28Start explaining.
01:32It's the police's job to ask what really happened.
01:36Where were you on the 28th of March?
01:38It was not me. I was not there.
01:40That could have been a hundred and one people.
01:42There's nothing to do with me.
01:47Hey, lads!
01:48Open the door now!
01:53Who's innocent?
01:55Who's guilty?
01:56Why would Pete say that you'd assaulted him?
01:58Because he's deluded. He's a drunk.
02:00Well, that's nonsense.
02:02Hey, please! Show me your hand!
02:04From the streets to the interrogation rooms.
02:07Where's the knife?
02:08Did you have a knife?
02:09No.
02:10He makes a specific threat that he is going to kill her.
02:13From the suspects to the head of CID.
02:16That's one hell of a shirt, David. I'm loving it.
02:22These are the men and women who have just 24 hours to find the evidence.
02:26I'm not letting him get away with it.
02:28I want him nicked and charged.
02:29If he kicks off, I'm out of the door.
02:32I'm a lover, not a fighter.
02:36Will they discover it before time runs out?
02:41Good news.
02:42Yeah.
02:44Got him.
02:45A taxi driver has been repeatedly punched in the head and robbed.

03:09Everyone that's arrested ends up in the hospital.
03:10Everyone that's arrested ends up in the hospital.
03:11A taxi driver has been repeatedly punched in the head and robbed.
03:15Everyone that's arrested ends up in the hospital.
03:16Everybody that's arrested ends up in custody.
03:17Everybody that is out on the street has done something wrong.
03:18Alright, man, Fenod.
03:20Fenod?
03:21Fenod?
03:22Fenod or other?
03:23W foster care?
03:24Most of Luton Police Station has closed for the night.
03:25Only the response units and police custody are still operating.
03:29Fenod or other?
03:30Fenod or other?
03:38That's why I've been tricked was locked in the hospital?
03:41Everyone that's arrested ends up in custody.
03:43Everybody that is out on the street has done something wrong.
03:46Some of the people you get in for the real serious offences are some of the quietest meekest mildest people that that you come across
03:59But there's certain people that you know that are just going to be a nightmare
04:04Time with the arrest
04:07Arrested for offense
04:11You had any alcohol or drugs in the last 24 hours?
04:13Are you using drugs or any other substances?
04:19Ever tried to harm yourself?
04:21Any mental health problems?
04:28The role of the custody sergeant is basically to make sure that detainees are looked after what they're entitled to in terms of
04:35Their rights in terms of like legal representation
04:39Yes, please
04:41Cases could be lost
04:43At court very serious cases
04:46Could be lost if the rules aren't adhered to
04:48Right, so most of my officers have told me I'm gonna authorize your detention at the police station
04:53All right, so most of my officers have told me I'm going to authorise your detention at
05:08the police station.
05:10There's one thing that turns my stomach every time, and it's people with smelly feet.
05:19Because it doesn't matter what you do, if you try and bag their shoes, stick them in
05:23the furthest away, cell, the smell just seems to creep back up to the desk.
05:30Get me out of here!
05:32Do you have some sort of King Kong impression or something?
05:38How can you keep going?
05:4343-year-old David Dosa has been arrested for harassing a female friend.
05:48She's accused him of standing outside her house, staring through the window.
05:52Oh, right.
05:53OK, yeah.
05:54I was going to phone you back, but we just had a couple of interesting characters coming
05:59in, so you probably heard them in your office.
06:01To ensure that detainees like David are kept safe through the night, there's a medic on
06:07call 24-7.
06:08It is like no other place, really.
06:12You just have to cut through all that and think, well, what is my bit in this?
06:16You know, and really just blank off banging cell doors, banging, you know, people banging
06:21their heads and banging everything else.
06:23People have stuffed toilet paper down their mouth, I mean loads of it, to the point where
06:30they're choking.
06:31People with things in their mouth that got through a search.
06:33Some people with things stuffed up them, stuffed in them, mobile phones, chargers.
06:37People take their clothes off and put them around their neck and try and strangle themselves.
06:40Well, of course, the man, it didn't happen in this country, but in another country, put
06:43his, did a handstand on the toilet, put his head down the toilet, flipped himself off and
06:47broke his neck and killed himself.
06:48So, it can happen.
06:49There are sick people and unwell people, but then there are also people who are there regularly.
07:11They know the system and it's almost like a little bit of personal gain to be had.
07:15Come and stand here then, fella.
07:16See the cuts of your eyebrows, your forehead, and you know there are injuries at all.
07:21No, there will be if you shut that door within five minutes.
07:24Have you had any alcohol or drugs in the last 24 hours?
07:26Yeah, lots of drugs.
07:27Yeah, what have you taken?
07:28I take lots of cannabis.
07:29Any alcohol?
07:30No, don't drink.
07:31I ate the stuff.
07:32You killed me.
07:33I went in heroin to get off alcohol.
07:34At the moment, by being obstructive, you're delaying the process.
07:37You are.
07:38What am I in it for?
07:39Drunk and disorderly.
07:40No!
07:41She's not all right.
07:42I will kill that bitch.
07:43She's lucky.
07:44Yeah?
07:45We can make a right pair.
07:46Let's go for it.
07:47What's this there?
07:48No.
07:49What was the point?
07:50Why am I here?
07:51I have no idea.
07:52We're going to find out very shortly.
07:53What's she here for?
07:54No, I never.
07:55I never have buttered them.
07:56ABH or common assault?
07:57No.
07:58No.
07:59It was an accident.
08:00I fell into them.
08:01Because I'm stanchilever.
08:02Can you just keep it down, Fitz?
08:03I can keep it fucking down.
08:04Yeah.
08:05Shit.
08:06I'm a flash.
08:07Fuck!
08:08Can you just stand up here and be quiet?
08:09Sarah, are you working at the moment?
08:10Yeah, I'm a prostitute and an escort.
08:11I'm a prostitute and an escort.
08:12And he was my last customer.
08:13Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
08:17Right.
08:18What'd you do for a living?
08:19Well I'm not going to promise you that you'll be out of here in an hour.
08:20You just stand up here and be quiet sorry you work
08:37Right what do you do for living well
08:39I'm not gonna promise you that you'll be out of here in an hour because when you're not you're gonna think I'm bad
08:44Aren't you back to m3 then anybody got a nice detainee for me
08:56What do you do for living tower what do you do for living
09:02I'll tell you what we'll do this in the morning. That's gonna be fine. Yeah, no we are f1
09:06Please
09:10You've got more than enough opportunity in the morning come on in the morning. We'll sort it out. Okay
09:29She's charming I want to take her home
09:37Some people are very very very demanding
09:44Do you want to use my disinfectant?
09:53That's probably better in it than a little alcohol wipe
09:56Sometimes I wonder myself why I'm doing it I go home and I think why what you know, why am I why am I doing this?
10:26I'm
10:27the
10:39The 19 year old suspected of assaulting and robbing a taxi driver has been seen by medic Tim miles
10:45an awful lot of mental health here just yeah fairly low level and then we see you know some
10:52mental health which is absolutely yeah you know the extreme end of it he's been declared fit for
10:59interview afternoon mrs. Layton afternoon let me put the kettle on for you what time was this bloke
11:11nicked midnight is it quite an easy job yeah basically bloke goes up to a taxi driver gives
11:18him a few punches nicks his car key is cracking he drives up in a car jumps out tells police officer
11:25what's gone on he goes there it there he is he's walking up towards us now so ID which hasn't been
11:31forced so crack in the street ID police officer goes up to him finds a car key so it is a really
11:38good job so hello hello casual wear now in PA choose it hi that's a difficult shift Saturday morning
12:02generally is the hardest one so they want this cake which I pray in the bin because here is pretty full
12:07we have a white board that shows what the detainees are what we're up they're up to it's just an
12:12outro action as soon as you walk through the door always have a quick look and see who's in and yeah
12:16sometimes you see the sign another name you think oh not again okay m1 was an obnoxious rude violent
12:26drunk male brought in consultation room B there's been vomit in there he was like projectile vomiting
12:33um mr. dosa is this chap here have you I've never seen him before yeah time booked him in last month
12:42oh yes out of the yard he was scraping his eyebrows had two cuts on his eyes oh right there's a theme
12:46here because remember that um anyway he comes in uh kicking the scream it's a harassment type job
12:52against his ex-partner which we found out now that he's on bail for but he is on a cell watch it did have
12:56two officers before there is just one officer down there now he hasn't slept at all he's been like
13:04that he's been awake the whole time uh f1 been arrested for drunk disorderly got out the cell
13:09she then tried to sort of bed herself down but then wanted to go to the toilet and there's weed
13:14against the cell door so just be careful when you're going in there please because there is urine on the
13:21floor m4 basically has robbed a taxi driver or car keys to the taxi and he's run off police have
13:26turned up to the scene speak with the taxi driver and for some reason he then returns to the crime
13:30scene he's identified by the taxi driver police then arrest him so hopefully that'll be picked up by
13:36robbery squad was he an m4 now can't find me crime report I joined very very late in life
13:48um I'd always waited to be a police officer um when I was younger oh even it's a sharpie from my desk
13:56yeah all the robberies happen here once my family had grown up I decided to get a little bit fitter and
14:05become a police officer I went for a bike ride when I got home no I saw that Owen had been tied in the
14:13garage and the bikes were out and I said to Owen oh let's go for a quick bike ride he's like that
14:18oh god I've just been for that fitness thing hi Sarge hello I'm doing an m4 yeah he's got a question
14:31mark mental health assess yes we've spoken to him in the cell and he's a bit odd miles has cleared in
14:38fitter the team fitter interview excellent stung bunker job you have to make some very very quick
14:43assessments I've lived a lot seen a lot instinctively I can read lots of different situations I'm pretty
14:54good at making a judgment on how to deal with the situation but you know but I never never let my guard
15:01down because you just don't know Elizabeth that's not me what's my name what's the matter drowsy drowsy
15:17in what sense you've just been to see if you need to go to the exercise you know my head right now
15:22I can't touch okay you've just seen the doctor haven't you listen to what I'm saying I'm listening
15:28to what you're saying I can't take this no more I really need the doctor oh I'm not even the doctor
15:34I need my solicitor right okay I'm going to be the officer my name's Kathy I'm going to be the officer
15:39dealing with you today all right okay and I understand you've just been to see the doctor
15:44and the doctor says that you yeah yeah that's not a problem we'll sort all that out I'm just coming
15:49to let you know that I'm dealing with you all right and so as soon as we can get you solicit here
15:54then we can crack on and have an interview all right you know you know sorry they've changed me
16:01in what sense I've just told you my name you want to go out in the exercise yard or not you don't right
16:12take your hands off there then and I'll see it when I dealt with him even though I'd been told that he
16:19had been deemed fit to be detained an interview there was something that concerned me about him
16:24mmm something strange there isn't there yeah doctor says he is but doctor says he's fine that's what the
16:32dogs put down well I won't be going into interview by myself with him because he's a big lad and there's
16:37something I'm pretty good judge of someone and I think there's some these don't know something odd
16:43about him so I don't know Sarge okay I mean we're sort of tired pretty much what the doctor says the
16:50doctor says you know we'll crack on exactly if the doctor seen him and he says he's fine we'll have
16:55an interview with him but I'm gonna bring someone in with me good morning control it's Kathy ups up at
17:01robbery at Luton hello there was a robbery or an offensive robbery last night I don't know if you got it
17:08locked where a taxi driver was punched in his key to his car taken at 2345 there's nothing red red
17:29they're all different I'll do the same as the third key whatever when I put it in there just remember
17:34red lady and red done pass me these keys all right hello how are you pardon right should we go and do
17:47your rights and bits we because we couldn't do them last night do you want to put your shoes on
17:50no how are you feeling would you like a drink cup of tea cup of coffee no 28 year old Tara was
18:01arrested last night for head-butting a doorman it took six police officers to restrain her
18:08the same quick we get this dump right so 10 o'clock tonight that would be them no no don't calm down
18:15talk we could angry yeah young lady in there who's never been arrested before okay so don't need your
18:24showers all right all right just calm down what's your relationship like oh my god turbulent
18:36yeah one's too many and four he's not enough so I think that's like my problem yeah I like a bit of
18:45alcohol it relaxes me chills me out so do you know how much you had to drink last night
18:50not a lot actually then it turns me crazy
18:53and then I get arrested you will never ever forget this day in your life
19:11you little something mad happens when I've had a few drinks
19:20Kerry I'm arrested my you were praying that's what happened what you are is it
19:28even for why are you praying up in it you fucker you know what just say thank you to the copper
19:33them for nicking me here my mate wants to say thank you
19:36does she it's not me that nicked you hello
19:38he's quite fit and all actually Kerry
19:42are you all right it was a good idea at the time see you later bye
19:50she's laughing she you're right sign there for your fingerprints please
19:55when you woke up this morning what was the first thing that ran through your mind
20:01not again here again
20:07hey it's very difficult to go out and not have a drink
20:13but obviously with the drink comes the violence
20:17comes the madness so it's like a vicious cycle you know
20:22I wish that I could stop drinking
20:25yeah because I'm thinking wow one day you know what
20:29if I'm too drunk what if I like really hurt someone
20:35don't remember it you know it's easy to be done you know to smash someone around
20:40the head with a bottle or something or I really do need to curb my ways
20:45because I do not want to go to prison
20:59detective constable Kathy Layton has spent the last four hours investigating a case of robbery
21:09and assault against a taxi driver
21:12a suspect is in custody
21:18but attempts to interview him have been hampered by concerns about his state of mind
21:23what did he do then he asked the taxi driver to take him to the airport
21:29and he said no he said I can't mate I've got a pre-booked taxi
21:32and he says like that bang bang bang hit the taxi driver took his car key
21:35walked off down the road he didn't even run did he
21:37he didn't run no he just walked off
21:39but it suggests to me there's more going on here
21:42I completely agree
21:44so when you talk about robbery it's mainly for gain isn't it what has he got to gain for
21:49taking a car key there isn't anything no
21:51let's come up to the top and we'll see if we can sort out solicitors and the likes for you
22:04looks like a nice day out there
22:09come stand up here
22:19come stand up here
22:21I just need to go through some bits on the system the officer who wants to interview you
22:30is just waiting to interview you
22:31just stand up here I'm going to be the other side I'll talk to you up there
22:39what do you think's happening down there what do you think's happening do you not want to do this
22:49no we haven't asked you to go around there man have we come on let's go back down listen
22:54well just do as you're told you can't wander around we'll just put you back in yourself
23:00we're trying to get you out of here you certainly ain't helping just walk yourself then no one has to touch it do they
23:13walk or they'll have to lay hands on you to get you back down there won't they walk back to your room please
23:17come on let go of your shoes let go of your shoes let go of your shoes let go
23:27let go of your shoes
23:32listen
23:35the suspect was seen by the custody medic earlier in the day and declared fit for interview
23:44the police world is a very black and white one I mean it's so black and white even wear black and
23:49white I mean it really is a black and white world with a tiny slither of gray in the middle match that
23:54against the medical world where it's you know a little bit of black on one side a little bit of
23:58white on the other side and there's massive gray in the middle we haven't got access to any
24:02background medical information we are only really provided with what the detainee might say to us
24:07um you know themselves so there is a bit of an honesty value and of course you know a lot of
24:14people are not arrested because of honest people arrested because of dishonest people
24:17and in the big wide world of mental health you could be one person in the morning and a different
24:23person in the afternoon can't get anything out of him he's just a strange individual
24:28i don't know how to move it forward to get him into an interview you have to watch him because he
24:32holds down the uh cell thing when he did that i sort of stood back and i thought i don't know what
24:38you're going to be doing here and that's when i said to him look you know and he was like you keep
24:42changing who you are and i'm like so i'm not sure if he's playing a game or whatever
24:48that to be honest with you when he's arrested sarge he's he replied and when he was searching here he
24:56says you planted it on me so he's got some rationale so whether he's playing a game i don't know
25:05whoa he's a strange one i ain't going in with you by myself with him i'll come in with you then
25:11he's something that's odd about him but he's been deemed fit by the uh doctor but there's he's a big
25:17dude okay so if he kicks off he'll be it'd be a problem you know i know he's in here for robbery
25:23but if there's something else bigger going on we need to be looking after him yeah and doing something
25:27with him you know i'll come in with you kathy you know that let me have a quick half the sandwich
25:32eat your whole sandwich kathy yeah i wouldn't go in on my own with him i wouldn't ask you to
25:41do you want to go in on my own last night david dosa was arrested for harassing a female friend
25:52he's already on bail for criminal damage to her property
25:55she's now accusing him of standing outside her house staring through the window
26:05this interview has been recorded and maybe using evidence if this case is brought to trial the date
26:09is the 10th of may 2014 and the time is 10 09. david you've been arrested for the offensive
26:16harassment and offensive weapon david in relation to kim how would you describe your friendship or
26:23whatever it is you have with her she's just a friend i was with her all day thirsty i left her three
26:28hours and she disappeared how long have you known kim david and how did you meet her
26:33for a friend of a friend so through mutual friends
26:40then we slept together and we slept together and i don't know what happened really i slept there yes
26:50we were a part of i don't know what goes on with that you have been turning up at her address sitting
26:58outside there trying to get hold of her via her family and friends you've just told me that yourself as
27:03well okay she hasn't responded to any of that does that not indicate to you that maybe someone
27:08i'm not interested i don't want to speak to that person well this is harassment don't arrest people
27:14come on do i look like a stalker come on get me the real program does she really think i'm that
27:18funny she's that good i don't just turn up the last time you went there didn't you and uh you uh
27:25pushed past someone that was there and got him with a hammer is that not the case yeah i've just been
27:29diagnosed with bipolar a little bit bipolar is quite strange i've had it all my life and it's
27:35a bit confusing because all the episodes of my life i'm thinking what's that bipolar so i tried to go
27:41back to it i've got 43 years that was what was wrong when you were last at the police station you
27:48got charged and bailed not to go to that location she's talked you're in breach of that because you've
27:55you've done that i'm getting used to i'm keeping away from that she's a mental man you understand
27:59that yeah i do understand now like some people have warned me about her leave me i think she just
28:03toys with me that's the truth she's just talked over my head goes a bit wrong i use cannabis to
28:08compress it i've always used drugs like heroin alcohol speed i've always used something over
28:15over my life and like i said i've just realized now it's bipolar but i do get really angry really
28:22angry on bipolar that's it i can switch why can't we just go home it's not as straightforward as that
28:28david i need two hours last time david just let me speak no all right no because you're lying all the
28:33time no i'm not lying to you i'm telling you i'm being honest i'm just getting back to yourself
28:37i'm really manic i'm fucking at it it's not going to achieve anything it's chiefs can you just um sign
28:42there for me please you don't want to i don't i just want i don't know what i want i know you
28:46would like to go i just want to go to hell i just want to go calm down no no fucking calm okay if you
28:53come with me david i'll just have nothing careful just take a seat there a minute please
29:03just take a seat there a minute david he's not going home david
29:08david david just calm down 10 hours they're trying to talk to somebody there
29:18we're doing it as quick as we can can you drink david mental health is a big challenge for us
29:25because the police station really is not the place for someone who's got mental health issues or learning
29:30difficulties if they need to be dealt with for offenses they need to be here and we have to take
29:35into account the mental health side but having a detainee in it's not ideal it's it's the last
29:41resort it really is hello mate are you aware that there's sick on the floor the sergeant's getting
29:47you a drink now but david he doesn't like being down the back and being ignored so i think last time
29:52when we put him in a cell near the custody desk he could see what was going on and he feels like
29:57he's interacting about and we put an officer with him um to watch him because he just will just flip
30:03and start to hurt himself but we found if he's got someone to interact with it prevents him from
30:08doing that keeps him occupied going in the yard all right don't bang around what you did last time
30:16i'll come and see you later
30:20bless him there you go out there with the officer all right it's better than being in yourself what are you
30:25doing that for what do you want me to do listen calm down and we'll get you out of here what it was
30:35when i was 40 it just i don't know what happened i suddenly come alive i don't know if i compressed
30:41it with the drink but i stopped taking the medication from the doctor i stopped everything
30:45and i said i felt alive and i started smoking cannabis and it just made me feel so happy i was like
30:49electric i get up in the morning and i'm ready to go but i think it sent me a bit skippy i think i
30:56said took too many 11 hours do you realize 11 fucking hours stop shouting oh here i'm probably
31:06going to be charged saturday as well i'm usually going to replace my saturday i like saturdays
31:10just stay out here and get some fresh air you call some shit to be some shit i'm dying but the
31:17whole day is rude about the family he's not right listen oh he's not at all it is sad but what can
31:25you do the difficulty comes when we think someone clearly is presenting with mental health and the
31:30doctor says he's absolutely fine nothing wrong with him they're the trained ones oh no just thought
31:37we've got a problem he's breached his bail by doing all this as well so if they even he he'll be here
31:43for court on monday and if even if cps charge with him then he'll be charged and remanded for that
31:47because he's already breached his belt so we're not going to give him bail again and we're going to
31:50have this until monday morning get me out fucking out you waiters
31:57with no clear instruction from her suspect kathy's case is delayed
32:15hello did you want a solicitor or not i know you want to get out right you know how it works you
32:25have a legal right to have a solicitor do you understand you've got to go through a procedure
32:30okay so do you want to speak to the duty solicitor that's on the station
32:37do you want to do that or not it's entirely up to you you can stay here all day and night i haven't
32:41got a brother with that it doesn't bother me because i go home at six o'clock so it doesn't
32:44make any difference to me you've got to now start to make a decision what you want to do what do you want
32:49to do right so how are you going to do that then you want to speak to the duty solicitor first
32:59yeah okay i'll get the duties to speak to you all right you're happy with that all right
33:04do you want to go and sit on your bed okay
33:08he's saying i want to get out of here now and i'm saying there's a procedure that we have to go through
33:14and you can have duty and he's saying i'll have duty so and i would feel better if he had duty yeah
33:21because i if i get any admissions or anything i want to make sure that interview is you know
33:27and i think it's the sort of person if you push the wrong button fine let's just do that get him out
33:43you're joking you're fucking in middle really fucking in here you fucking talk to the suit
33:55david dosa has been held in police custody for 11 and a half hours after being accused of harassment
34:02fucking hell it's all the hell we're not going to keep you a minute longer honestly we don't want you
34:07here you're a nice bloke i don't want you in here as soon as we get an answer from cps we'll be
34:11straight down here david honestly i'm not going to muck you about you know that
34:16fucking hell i can't take it man you're a dickhead man you drove me fucking in bingo
34:22really fucking i went to the doctors the other week and i said i wouldn't take them tablets again
34:27i couldn't get out of the house made me so drowsy and the doctor looked at me and she goes i think
34:30that's a good thing i was married kids and that nice house and that i was in service engineer for like
34:40basically fire alarms and nurse call and things like that i was there for 12 years going to work
34:45clocking in and going to look for someone nice to eat my sandwich and clocking back in and going home
34:50i'm not programmed like that i watch these people like robots like you said people don't even look
34:55up no more nowadays and of course above them it's just really in a little bubble getting up doing the
35:00same routine they don't realize how much of a routine they're getting to now doing the same thing
35:05watching the same program how monotonizing have a bit of change oh deary me i'll be glad when today's
35:13done oh now i'll get to go home to a house full of kids they've got their cousins staying over tonight
35:18great should i say you kidnapped me and made me go to the pub in barton yeah shout i'll do that for a
35:27pint yeah what am i looking at dosa charge and remand he's staying for breach about on monday anyway
35:35no he's not oh is he not was he not breach about no he should have been nicked for last night with
35:42david dosa's case coming down to one word against another there is not enough evidence to charge him
35:49that's good news that means we can charge and bail him because i thought it was here till monday
35:53he's got a bike he's white downstairs anyways terrific so phil can take him down on your bike son
35:59i'll come and see us in a bit yeah go and tell him and bring him up hope you're sound
36:04uh dosa i'm free david i know you've called me a and every name under the sun but good luck with
36:12everything all right good luck man hang in
36:14all right so cps i've looked at the evidence and said he needs to be released and no further action
36:28okay i've risked it twice okay so do you have somewhere to go let me just go for this and we
36:34can get you out yeah you do have somewhere to go yeah up in farley hill good stuff and you've got
36:37your bike down there yeah cool do you understand what's happened today yes or no yes i'm baffled
36:44how she could put that because none of it it's all lies this girl was wearing my clothes for a couple
36:49of weeks and i'm not proud man she was in my bed i never touched him like first of all i'm more of a
36:55people's person you know i mean i'm not into all that um oh like main sort of stuff and that
37:01all right as soon as you've got all your bits then you are free to go is this information about
37:10head injury might as well take that do you know on that david no it's a diet dice
37:20but what can you do in some of that it's just been a nightmare he's been on he's been up pacing
37:23around since two o'clock and then you get a doctor who says it's fine
37:32there's a part of society they can't manage their own lives without involving the police
37:38often if you go into custody you see the same people coming through we don't have enough
37:43people to deal with this and we've all got to make these decisions with very little resources
37:49and that comes down to the mental health units that comes down to the care and community policies
37:55and if these people are not coping it's a big challenge for the police
37:59there you are there you go david where'd you go you're both in your pocket your pocket right
38:05all right cheers all right bye now what is mad day well i think we have to be mad to live in this
38:09town and that and do what we do life is mad if you look at it what we get up to i think what i do
38:16is not mad really we're going out and enjoying myself for coffee and night having different places to
38:20eat in the daytime just sitting there people watching and getting stoned and no you can't come it's my game
38:30look it's still on your bike but they've done no damage to it look at the wheel
38:35it's right here no they've done no damage to it can't be bothered if they do it every time to me
38:40so they're bent on my wheel dickheads all right
38:43so i said to him listen you can be in here all day and all night for all i care i said because
38:57at six o'clock mate i go home so i don't care what you want to do it's entirely up to you and i said
39:02so you want to solicit or not i said there's a duty on on the station now why don't you speak to duty and
39:08they went i love duty and anyhow so they're going to get duty now that'd be brett and they'd be
39:14interested in how the solicitor because let's see how the solicitor i think they're going to make
39:17representations aren't they i agree and if they do that that's fine we'll go back to square one

40:07of the class b i'm going to speak to your solicitor now mr jones okay go in there that's your solicitor
40:26you have to go in there no you have to go in there it's all right you have to go in there

40:50we have our training but we're not experts in mental health we're not experts uh in in addictions to a
40:59certain degree um we are experts of knowing someone's drunk we often have to put that into
41:04our statements but that again we you know we're not experts in medical care what training do they
41:10give you in mental health um we do online training

43:17no i don't feel sorry for them they know what they're getting themselves into doing this job
43:23sorry i don't feel no i don't i feel sorry for them
43:29but they get paid enough money you know to take this kind of behavior from people
43:35oh you're right carrie freedom
43:39right i'm not actually out
43:55do you remember the taxi driver
43:58sorry yes you're shaking your head that way but saying yes
44:04do you remember the taxi driver he was still displaying some strange behavior
44:09the way he was responding to me and looking at me what it was though he wasn't connecting with me at
44:16all he wasn't connecting
44:18he then just stood up and started to walk towards me and my colleague it's a very small room there are lots
44:39of tables and chairs in there that are movable
44:48he didn't scare me he never scared me um i just felt that he was very unpredictable
44:54i got this feeling that he didn't he wasn't going to hurt me physically but because he was a very very he was quite a big lad and because i didn't know a lot about him i still kept that
45:08that that sort of judgment in the back of my head that he could have been capable of doing anything
45:26do you think your instincts were proved to be right in this situation then
45:29yes absolutely well they were because uh i understand that he was seen by
45:36a doctor and a mental health team later on and sectioned
