00:00in reverse. But I'm telling you, Paul Justin threw that thing underhand. Dot Richards would
00:07have been proud of that delivery, the captain of the U.S. women's gold medal winning softball team.
00:16Well now it's second down and 30. Count them, 30.
00:21Justin has a completion to Lamont Warren. Warren gets a chunk of it back. Scooter Magruder
00:34knocks him out of bounds just short of the 30. That's 11 yards back.
00:39You know, the thing about this kid, Paul Justin, he led the World League in passing two years
00:44ago. This is a big, strong, very self-confident player. He's more than happy to sit behind
00:50Harbaugh, but you can't convince this kid that he shouldn't start in the NFL.
00:55From Arizona State, he's played in the World League, as you mentioned.
00:59Indianapolis practice squad, Chicago practice squad, and arena football.
01:04Looking over the dime, defense on third and 19.
01:12Chase from the pocket, a little direction. Heaves for the end zone.
01:16No good. Lamont Warren thought he had it. They said no. He trapped it. He and Magruder
01:23were battling for the football, and they say no catch for Lamont Warren.
01:28Actually, Lamont Warren, very lucky. They could have called interference on him.
01:33There was a lot of pushing and shoving. You're going to see the end of it right there.
01:35They're both going for the football. How about Paul Justin showing some arm strength there, huh?
01:43Here he is. He winds up and lets her fly.
01:46With Chris Slade almost in his chest. Pretty impressive.
01:51Good call, no catch as the ball hits the ground.
01:54And so Blanchard will attempt a 50-yard field goal.
01:57Blanchard. He's 11 for 13, over 40 yards. This one needs help.
02:02Oh, hit the crossbar and went through. When you're hot, you're hot.
02:12Blanchard strikes again.
02:2017-6. A field goal by Blanchard. You see that?
02:24It was showing an inch there. That's about how much it cleared by.
02:2850-yard field goal. Hit the crossbar and bounded over.
02:32We'll show it to you again in a moment. Blanchard, Daki.
02:34Bouncing the kickoff to Troy Brown.
02:40And Brown advances it to about the 36-yard line.
02:43The fight breaks out.
02:45Here is that field goal again. Watch this one from 50 yards.
02:51Most of the time, those crossbars are unfriendly.
02:53But it is a game of inches. You're absolutely right.
02:56Parcells is saying, that's our goalpost.
02:59That's our goalpost.
03:01Come on.
03:02I'm changing that this weekend.
03:04Here it was. The body English got it over.
03:07Blanchard celebrates.
03:0850-yard field goal.
03:11He has been superb this season.
03:13Two tight ends here now.
03:14Coates and Burke,
03:16who is back.
03:17And the short gain to Martin,
03:20about three yards.
03:21Now, Curtis Martin had 20 carries in the first half.
03:25Most of those in the first quarter.
03:26The latter stages of the second
03:28didn't play much.
03:30Colts come out,
03:31keep the ball for quite a while.
03:32He should be well-rested.
03:33I don't see any reason why Parcells,
03:35Ray Perkins,
03:36the offensive punks for the Patriots,
03:38don't go right back to their original game plan.
03:43There's Martin again.
03:45And the original game plan continues to click,
03:48about two yards short of the first down.
03:51Word from the Colt bench is that
03:52Jim Harbaugh has a strained
03:54medial collateral ligament of his left knee.
03:57You see it taped up,
03:58and he is not going to return today.
04:01Unfortunately,
04:02injuries like that,
04:03they won't know until they get an MRI look at it
04:06back in Indianapolis.
04:08So,
04:09the extent of the damage
04:10is going to be allowed before we find out.
04:13Third and seven,
04:15or third and short,
04:17about two yards,
04:18as Bledsoe passes complete to Troy Brown
04:21for the New England first down.
04:23He's to the 44-yard line of the Colts,
04:25where he's tackled by Ray McElroy.
04:27Gain of 12.
04:29And Tom,
04:29Dave Meggett does a wonderful job here.
04:32Watch Meggett jump up,
04:34and he recognizes the blitz coming.
04:36Now,
04:36Meggett,
04:36one of the littlest guys in the league,
04:38but he just gets up there.
04:40Actually,
04:40Grant still makes contact,
04:41but Bledsoe,
04:42big,
04:43strong,
04:43240 pounds,
04:45with Grant right in his face,
04:47still makes the completion.
04:48Good recognition by Meggett.
04:50And on first down,
04:51Curtis Martin returns to the game,
04:53having claimed his second 100-yard rushing game of the season.
04:57Bledsoe's first down pass deflected,
05:00intended for Sean Jefferson,
05:01and knocked away by Eugene Daniel.
05:06So,
05:07Curtis Martin now with 27 carries, Bob,
05:09100 yards.
05:10And almost everything today has been based off of the play action,
05:13because of the running of Curtis Martin.
05:16Excellent coverage by Grant underneath.
05:17And Eugene Daniel,
05:21the pass sailed a little bit on Bledsoe.
05:24There's Jefferson,
05:25who takes a break on the Patriot sideline.
05:28Second down.
05:29Coates,
05:30the motion man.
05:33Bledsoe,
05:34finds Gash.
05:36Sam Gash,
05:37caught by Trev Alberts from behind.
05:40It'll be third down,
05:41and about four yards.
05:42And that play worked in the first half.
05:44Remember that?
05:44Again,
05:45play action.
05:47The pullback bakes the block,
05:49releases past the outside linebacker.
05:51Bledsoe makes the completion.
05:53Big offensive numbers today.
05:55Bledsoe has
05:56tossed two touchdown passes,
05:58giving him
05:5820 for the season.
06:00He's got over 3,000 yards passing.
06:03And already,
06:03Curtis Martin has exceeded 100 yards rushing.
06:11Dave Meggett.
06:12Meggett scampers for a first down.
06:15Down to the 27-yard line
06:16where he's hit by Stephen Grant.
06:20He's made a big contribution today, hadn't he?
06:22Yes.
06:23Nine yards on that one.
06:25Great job on the right side
06:28of the offensive line of the Patriots
06:29for one of those rare occasions
06:31where Meggett leaves the lead blocker.
06:34He went away from where Sam Gash was,
06:37went to that little cutoff area.
06:39Nice first down pickup.
06:40Look at that.
06:41Already a 100-yard improvement
06:42in the rushing offense for New England.
06:45And we're still in the third quarter.
06:48Curtis Martin
06:49to the 18-yard line.
06:52Close to another first down.
06:54Bernard Whittington
06:55tracked him down.
06:56Get him nine.
06:57It'll be second and one.
06:58Tom Colts come with a run blitz.
07:01Martin right between them.
07:03Excellent call.
07:04Great recognition.
07:06Look at the hole open up there.
07:07Nice little inside trap
07:09they were trying to run.
07:10Armstrong 78 down on Ellis Johnson.
07:12And again, just hammering that line of scrimmage.
07:18Another 100-yard game for Curtis Martin,
07:20the 11th of his career.
07:26Here he is again.
07:27Curtis Martin twists to the 10-yard line.
07:31Grant and Belser holding on,
07:33and Martin continues to run with authority.
07:37And of course, last year,
07:39he averaged close to somewhere
07:40between 25 or 26 carries a game.
07:44He is approaching 25 or 26 carries for this game.
07:48This kid is hard to wear out.
07:51Now 29 carries.
07:5229.
07:53118 yards.
07:55Here's number 30.
07:58And number 30 gets him close to the 5-yard line.
08:01Stephen Grant with the tackle of Curtis Martin
08:04in his second season for Pitt,
08:06as you said, to the Pro Bowl as a rookie last year
08:08when he gained nearly 1,500 yards.
08:12Curtis Martin Jr., Pittsburgh native.
08:16Didn't play football until he was a senior in high school.
08:18In his senior season at Pitt,
08:20he was injured,
08:20and many didn't think much of his chances
08:23when in the third round.
08:25What a find.
08:30But so, after the play-action fake
08:32to the end zone throw-in-away,
08:33he hit the crossbar.
08:34Now he could stand out there all day.
08:37Whoops.
08:37That's intentional grounding.
08:39He was still in the pocket, I guess, is the ruling.
08:41Yep.
08:42Referee threw it.
08:43And he hit the crossbar with it.
08:45In the pocket and threw the ball away.
08:5610-yard penalty and lost it down.
08:59There is good pressure here from the Colts.
09:03The only thing I would say in Drew Bledsoe's defense,
09:06how many times have you seen a quarterback throw it
09:08with a little more authority in the end zone?
09:10There's no call.
09:11I think it's a good call.
09:13But by rule, you're right.
09:14He's inside the tackles,
09:16and he's throwing the ball away to avoid the sack.
09:18Drew hasn't done many things wrong today.
09:22He is 13 of 20, 152 yards and two touchdown passes.
09:26And the loss of down, Parcells is saying,
09:28is that second or third?
09:30Because the down marker had second.
09:31Now they've changed it.
09:33He wanted second.
09:34He was lobbying, wasn't he?
09:35Dave Meggett is on here.
09:39Third down and 16.
09:41Ball at the 16-yard line of Indianapolis.
09:50Pass caught by Coates.
09:53That keeps his string alive.
09:54That's 61 straight games he has a reception.
09:57Back to the 4-yard line that covered 12 yards.
10:01It was a third and goal.
10:06Steven Grant, the tackle.
10:08So on fourth down, the field goal unit comes out.
10:16Vinatieri will attempt the field goal
10:18with a hold by Tupa.
10:2521-yard attempt.
10:27He's already hit from 26.
10:31And the field goal is good.
10:38So they surrender a field goal.
10:39They get one back.
10:41It's 20-6, New England.
10:46There will be no captain comeback performance today.
10:49The crutches belong to Jim Harbaugh,
10:51who has suffered a strained medial collateral ligament
10:54in his left knee.
10:56Leaving Paul Justin to run the Colts offense,
10:59trailing 20-6.
11:01Aaron Bailey takes Vinatieri's kick at the 9-yard line.
11:06Breaking to the outside.
11:08Nice couple of moves.
11:09Nice return.
11:10Bailey to the 45-yard line.
11:12Stopped for the kicker, Adam Vinatieri.
11:15We'll take a break.
11:16The NFL on NBC.
11:18Paul Justin hoping to pull the rabbit out of the hat for the Colts
11:26with 4.29 left in the third and down 20-6.
11:30Yeah, boy, pull the rabbit out of the hat.
11:31That's exactly what the Colts need.
11:33Marshall Falk, Lamont Warren in the game at the same time here.
11:42And Marshall Falk gets two yards, hit by Ted Johnson.
11:52Well, the last four games, runners have gone wild against this New England defense.
12:00Look at the rushing yards they have allowed.
12:04And today, Marshall Falk.
12:06Seven rushes, 20 yards.
12:09Well, Patriots started quickly.
12:11They started aggressively.
12:12And they've shut down the run.
12:14So the top three priorities for the Patriots have been met.
12:18Now all they've got to do is win the game.
12:19And they are in firm control.
12:21Parcell's report card reads A-A-A.
12:29I guess he'd be real nice this week, you think?
12:31No, I doubt it.
12:34Justin nearly intercepted.
12:37Willie Clay broke it up and nearly picked it off intended for Marvin Harrison.
12:41Willie Clay has played a heck of a football game.
12:45Brought over here from Detroit to add some experience to this defensive backfield.
12:50This defensive backfield for the Patriots is young and has been hurt.
12:54Well, a beautiful break on the football.
12:55He's timed a couple of those exquisitely today.
12:58Also been there on the blitz a couple of times.
13:00He was the one who was over Marshall Falk and hit Jim Harbaugh on the knee.
13:07Seven DBs facing Paul Justin, who's hit only one.
13:11Of his first four passes.
13:15Steps up.
13:17Throws incomplete.
13:19Had a lot of steam on it through the hands of Aaron Bailey.
13:23Scooter Magruder was there with him.
13:25Would have been a first down had Bailey been able to hang on.
13:28Justin shows great presence here.
13:30Senses the pressure from the outside.
13:32From Chris Slade, number 53.
13:34Steps up.
13:35But you're right.
13:35Just, he kind of overthrows it.
13:37Really didn't give Aaron Bailey much of a chance to get his hands up to catch that one.
13:45Gardaki will punt to Megit.
13:46Another beautiful Gardaki punt.
13:54Megit from the six.
13:58Spun down just short of the 20-yard line.
14:01Normally, you let those go from the six.
14:04Not Dave Megit.
14:05He brings it back 15 yards after the punt covered 48.
14:0814-point lead for the Pats.
14:133-24 left.
14:14Third quarter.
14:15They've been firmly in control of the game since the first period of play.
14:20Drew Bledsoe's having a big afternoon.
14:22He's passed 3,000 yards for the season.
14:24And the star of the running game, Curtis Martin, continues his assault on the record books.
14:33Bernard Whittington makes the tackle.
14:35And time of possession heavily in favor.
14:38You know, there's just three minutes left in the third quarter.
14:40This game just two hours old because New England has had ball control the whole game.
14:45And a reversal of form.
14:4739 minutes.
14:48The Broncos held it against this team last week.
14:51They've turned the tables in this one.
14:52Yeah, the New England defense has basically had the weekend off.
14:57The offense has had the ball so much.
15:02Bledsoe, side arms at complete.
15:04Short gain to Curtis Martin.
15:06Might as well get a reception in there, too.
15:08He's done everything else.
15:09Grant hit him immediately.
15:10But I wonder what Parcells thought about that particular attempt.
15:13Late down the middle.
15:14What are you doing, kid?
15:17Bledsoe is still a young man.
15:20Fourth season in the NFL.
15:21Just 24 years old.
15:22He's still learning.
15:23He's learning on the job.
15:25And we'll get reminded of that one.
15:32Dave Megan is on.
15:34Third and six.
15:39Colts show blitz.
15:40And here they come.
15:41Oh.
15:44Dave Megan hit in his tracks.
15:46Dropped for a loss in the play.
15:47Everybody was coming.
15:49Jason Belser was the man that hit him hardest.
15:51And Belser a little gimpy coming off.
15:54There's no secret.
15:55They got to do something the Colts do.
15:57They need a turnover.
15:59See a 59.
16:00Oh, it's 53.
16:01Sammy Burroughs who stops him in his tracks.
16:03Belser certainly created the little dodge by Megan.
16:08Tupa to punt.
16:11Tupa to punt.
16:16High snap.
16:18Stave line.
16:19Fields it.
16:20At the 37.
16:22Immediately spun to the turf.
16:24Great coverage that time.
16:26A number 26, Jerome Henderson of New England.
16:2944-yard punt.
16:34Well, tonight it's Maverick.
16:37Mel Gibson and Jodie Foster show how the West was won.
16:42Was that fast?
16:44I thought that was fast.
16:47James Garner co-stars in Maverick tonight after Third Rock here on NBC.
16:52Wait a minute.
16:53Wait a minute.
16:53Wait a minute.
16:54Co-stars?
16:55Maverick?
16:56James Garner is Maverick.
16:57How can he co-star?
16:58Well, that's what it says, Bob.
16:59He is the star.
17:00Anytime Mel Gibson and Jodie Foster are around, it's tough to get Todd Billett.
17:05That's a fun movie, though.
17:06I like it.
17:06It is.
17:06I agree.
17:10Paul Justin with a roll and a pass.
17:14Good catch.
17:16Dilger.
17:17Dilger took it off his shoe tops.
17:19Defended by Lawyer Malloy.
17:20Good for 17 yards.
17:22Oh, again, rolling to his right.
17:24Justin throws back to the left.
17:25The initial play-action fake to Marshall Falk sets.
17:31It's got some heat on it.
17:33Dilger does an excellent job.
17:34And, you know, because of the lack of offensive linemen protection problems, Dilger's had to stay in a great deal.
17:40He's a great weapon.
17:41Colts haven't been able to use him.
17:42Marshall Falk outside lane cutoff, so he cuts it up the middle, and Ricky Reynolds takes him down.
18:00Final seconds, third quarter.
18:01Yeah, it's almost sad to watch Marshall Falk.
18:04This is no way, shape, or form the true picture.
18:0830 carries for Martin.
18:108 for Falk.
18:11Marshall Falk just not healthy enough.
18:13He doesn't practice enough since he dislocated his toe in week two to really be a factor as a running back.
18:18Could be the final play of the quarter, unless there's a penalty.
18:35Justin on target to Dawkins.
18:37Sean Dawkins hit hard.
18:39Rumbles the football.
18:42And the Patriots have it.
18:44Devin Wyman jarred the ball loose, and Lawyer Molloy pounced on it for New England.
18:52And the last play of the third quarter more or less typifies this game.
18:57Devin Wyman is a defensive tackle.
19:00Watch him.
19:01He's going to show up right there.
19:03Along with 52, Johnson to jar the ball loose.
19:09You're watching the NFL on NBC.
19:14First play of the fourth quarter after the turnover.
19:19Bledsoe to Terry Glenn.
19:21Slips a couple of tackles and has it with a first down.
19:25A gain of 10 yards.
19:26Jason Belser finally collared him.
19:29And New England with a first down after recovering the fumble.
19:32And this has been a near flawless performance so far by the New England Patriots,
19:37who took command early in the game and really have never been threatened.
19:51Going to measure to see if he has the first down.
19:53On his 60th catch of the season.
19:55The Patriots' leading receiver, the much maligned early rookie Terry Glenn.
20:02What if he had a bet?
20:04The rookie from Ohio State has to be feeling bad after the Buckeyes' demise yesterday.
20:09Yeah, I think we were up at Ohio State, talked to John Cooper, and he said,
20:18we thought Terry Glenn was too young to come out, but he came out anyway.
20:21We advised against it.
20:23And he did not get off to the best start.
20:24But 60 catches as a rookie.
20:27Yep.
20:29It's been a storybook career so far, Glenn.
20:32The Ohio State walk-on at one time, formerly sold sodas at Ohio Stadium and his youth.
20:39As tragedy has visited his family, his mom was murdered when he was just 13 years old.
20:44Here he is with number 61, Terry Glenn.
20:52And Glenn, the top rookie receiver in the NFL.
20:58That one good for 11 yards and another first down.
21:00That was coming in.
21:01And he's added to that total considerably today.
21:03Yeah, those three kids have actually made a pretty good contribution to each team,
21:06even though the Jets can't win a game against anybody.
21:10Keyshawn Johnson has at least contributed some.
21:12And didn't Glenn miss the first game of the season?
21:15Yes, he did.
21:15After straining a hamstring.
21:17Bledsoe's pass batted back in his face by Bernard Whittington.
21:22There's no question that Drew Bledsoe, with the addition of Terry Glenn,
21:26has a lot more weapons around him than he did last year.
21:28But I'm not sure this team has to run Curtis Martin 35 times a game to win.
21:35And I think Bill Parcells is in the same situation that Don Chula was for years with Dan Marino.
21:40He's not going to surround the franchise player, which is Drew Bledsoe.
21:44And anything they invest in Drew Bledsoe, in my estimation, is worth it.
21:47This kid is going to be one of the game's great quarterbacks.
21:52He's hit 17 of 25 today as he hands off to Curtis Martin.
21:56Penalty flag down, and Martin is down around the 40-yard line.
22:02Hole against the Patriots, only their second penalty of the game.
22:06We said it was a near-flawless performance.
22:07No turnovers, only their second penalty.
22:10They've run and passed effectively.
22:12Offense number 76, 10-yard penalty.
22:15Repeat second down.
22:17William Roberts on the penalty.
22:19And they have held the Colts to only six points.
22:22So a great job of coaching by Parcells, who stirred things up during the week.
22:26And did he ever get results?
22:28Yeah, you know, Monday, he didn't even show the team the Denver tape.
22:32But they broke into individual groups, and they watched it individually.
22:36But as a team, he said, we're burning this one.
22:38I don't want to see it.
22:39I don't want you guys to see it.
22:40But their coaches showed it to him.
22:42The guy has a button pusher, and this week he pushed all the right buttons.
22:47Play action fake.
22:48Bledsoe rolling.
22:51Completing to Martin.
22:52Curtis Martin.
22:54Oh, beautifully done.
22:56Curtis Martin after the catch with a great run.
22:59Stephen Grant finally able to trip him up.
23:01But Curtis Martin showing the whole package today.
23:04That one for 24 yards.
23:06And actually another great choice by Drew Bledsoe,
23:08because when he's flushed, Terry Glenn is open farther down the field.
23:12But he chooses Martin for the sure thing.
23:16That's a tough throw, too, running like that.
23:18Almost a handoff to Martin.
23:20Well, this kid is strong.
23:22Martin angry he didn't get more.
23:26This drive set up by the fumble recovery, Sean Dawkins.
23:29And we understand he took a shot to the head as he fumbled the ball.
23:32And his return is questionable for Indianapolis.
23:35Bledsoe fumbled as he's hit.
23:39Scramble for the football.
23:41It will belong to New England.
23:42Bruce Armstrong put his big body around it.
23:46After Tony Bennett, I believe, the man that hit Bledsoe to knock it loose.
23:52They're going to come from the left-hand side.
23:54Bledsoe again steps up.
23:55He's first flushed by Whittington.
23:57And that is Bennett who does hit him in the back.
23:59And I don't think there's any question that that's a fumble.
24:02But they're saying that his arm was going forward.
24:05And that the Patriots was a fumble.
24:08Recovered by Max Lane.
24:10Patriots fault.
24:11We'll get it straight here in a minute.
24:12That's Lane's a second fumble recovery today, I think.
24:16Bledsoe.
24:18Try to squeeze that one in.
24:19No good for Glenn.
24:21Surrounded by white-shirted colts.
24:23What's Parcells in?
24:25No.
24:25Yeah, now Bledsoe is, he just said there was no pressure.
24:29There was no reason to throw it that quick.
24:32Time out.
24:33He's mad at Drew Bledsoe because that was a very lackadaisical effort by Drew Bledsoe.
24:39And he wants every play by this kid to be perfect.
24:42This is a long walk to the sideline in this case.
24:50Well, we believe in tradition here at NBC.
24:52And, Bob, you've been wondering where the church steeple was all day.
24:55A sort of a tradition for games here in Foxboro.
24:57Yeah.
24:58The game is now official.
24:59That church fire is shown.
25:01It is now official.
25:03Well, Drew Bledsoe's ears had all the skin singed off of him while we were away
25:09as he went to talk to Parcells on the sideline.
25:12And here's how he responds.
25:14With a completion to Meggett out of the backfield.
25:16And Meggett rambles for a first down at a 12-yard line.
25:20And McElroy and Frazier knocked him out of bounds.
25:2416-yard gain.
25:25Bledsoe makes another point.
25:27Yeah.
25:27Now you saw the little smile on his face.
25:30But on the previous play, when Drew, this is the play.
25:35This is the pass attempt and completion to Dave Meggett out of the backfield.
25:40Wonderfully done.
25:41Just taking advantage of the defense.
25:43That's kind of the way I felt a time or two.
25:45The way that looked.
25:46Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
25:55Handoff.
25:56Martin.
25:58Still on his feet.
26:00Touchdown!
26:01He's a touchdown machine.
26:15His 16th of the year.
26:17Which is a new New England record.
26:20And the 7th straight game when he has scored at least one.
26:25Boy, this is beautifully done.
26:27That first move.
26:28Then he breaks the tackle here.
26:30Keeps fighting.
26:32Decent little help by Terry Glenn into the end zone.
26:35Breaks his old record of 15 touchdown score that he sent last year.
26:39That was a run.
26:41Extra point by Vinatieri is good.
26:46Be lots of game balls after this one.
26:49The route is on.
26:55Back in Foxborough, it was a showdown between two teams hoping for the playoffs.
26:59Bob Kraft has drawn the attention of the Patriot fans after a big afternoon.
27:04And he told us before the game his lucky charm would be his grandson, Harry, born yesterday.
27:11Nine pounds born yesterday.
27:13His son, Jonathan, the team vice president, and his wife, Patty.
27:16Giving Bob Kraft a grandson yesterday and the luck carrying over to today.
27:24Aaron Bailey takes it to the 35, hit by Teddy Bruschi.
27:27This touchdown was a thing of beauty.
27:29Without comment.
27:30This is one of the prettiest I've seen.
27:39So much for the sophomore jinx for this kid.
27:42And a record-setting 16th touchdown of the season.
27:47Wow.
27:48That's on his 31st carry of the game.
27:51Is that impressive?
27:52That much leg strength?
27:54That much conditioning?
27:5731 carries, 133 yards.
27:59Justin with a handoff to Marshall Falk.
28:11Surrounded and taken down for a gain of one.
28:14As we return to New York and Greg Gumbel for an update.
28:17Greg?
28:18All right, Tom.
28:19And I'll be happy to take you to Minnesota where Brad Johnson gets all kinds of time to throw.
28:24But check out the catch by Chris Carter in the end zone.
28:27Both feet down.
28:28Holds on to the football.
28:30The extra point.
28:3117-14.
28:32Vikes lead the Broncos.
28:33Just over 11 and a half to play in regulation, Tom.
28:36All right, Greg.
28:37You might as well take me to Minnesota, but everywhere else this weekend.
28:45Justin.
28:46Has it deflected?
28:47And it's caught by Dilger.
28:49Chris Slade got a hand on it.
28:51There is a flag down.
28:52Back in the center of the field.
28:59And it looks like a hold against New England, which will be an automatic first down.
29:07Paul, Justin holding his passing hand there.
29:10Safe to say there was some steam on that ball because it ricocheted a good 20 yards.
29:14He's shown his arm strength.
29:16That's for sure.
29:18Illegal contact.
29:19Defense number 52.
29:21Penalty has declined.
29:22First down.
29:23Illegal contact.
29:25Is the penalty not a hold on Ted Johnson?
29:28See if we can see who put the pressure on Paul Justin.
29:32With a 53 slate.
29:34Yeah.
29:34And even with half a delivery.
29:36Still got some steam on it.
29:38He's shaking his fingers.
29:40There's Ted Johnson.
29:41Called for the illegal contact.
29:42Paul Justin replacing the injured Jim Harbaugh.
29:54And he wins it over the head of Sean Dawkins, who's back in the game.
29:57Otis Smith was defending Dawkins.
30:00In case you just tuned in late.
30:02I mean, you're used to hearing injuries to Colt players.
30:07A knee sprain.
30:08A stretch or a strain of the medial collateral ligament.
30:12And Jim Harbaugh's left knee.
30:18On the sideline on crutches with ice on it.
30:25Yep.
30:25The team doctor is going to be the MVP when this season is over.
30:28Marcel Faulk didn't get much.
30:40Wrapped up by Mike Jones.
30:44Well, the Patriots are continuing to apply pressure.
30:47You know, they come with a run blitz here.
30:51They are not going to give up on anything until this game is over completely.
30:56Parcells and his bunch are trying to send a message to a lot of people.
31:01Not just to the Colts.
31:03They want to dominate.
31:05And they have to this point.
31:08Marshall obviously didn't read that study that said those nose bands didn't help much.
31:13Seven defensive backs here on third and seven.
31:20Dustin threw it behind and through the hands of Sean Dawkins.
31:26And punt time once again.
31:30Yeah, again, that arm strength.
31:31Sometimes it helps.
31:33Sometimes it hurts.
31:33This one hurts.
31:35This baby goes through Sean Dawkins' hands.
31:37Vapor trail.
31:38And stays in spiral.
31:41You could have laces burned from that one.
31:44Chris Gardocki, again, a chance to show his stuff.
31:52Something they were hoping not to see today.
31:58High in the air.
31:59Meggett.
32:00Fair catch at the 15-yard line.
32:02Another inside the 20 for Gardocki.
32:06As Harbaugh, sideline with injury, watches his Colts about to go down.
32:129-27 separating the Patriots from their eighth win of the season.
32:18It's been a great all-round performance by this team today.
32:21Curtis Martin carries once again.
32:28Steve Martin tackles him.
32:30Curtis, what is that, 32 carries for him now?
32:34Is that 32 carries?
32:3633.
32:37And his personal record is 36.
32:40The team record is 38.
32:43So which one do you want him to have?
32:44You'll have both, Matt.
32:45He is a likable kid.
32:49He's somebody you root for.
32:51Only played three college football games his senior year because of a badly sprained ankle.
32:56If he hadn't run to the Senior Bowl and impressed some pro coaches,
33:00probably still wouldn't have been in the NFL.
33:03Grew up in a Pittsburgh downtown.
33:07And at times, I had some rough encounters.
33:11One time, he was hiding behind a car and dodging bullets as they flew past.
33:17Martin with another carry.
33:1934 carries for him now.
33:21And he's one of those kids, too, that when you walk around the locker room,
33:25veterans like him.
33:27I have no complaints about him whatsoever.
33:30He's someone that you root for and is a very likable young man.
33:34Timeout taken here.
33:35And we'll remind you that on Thanksgiving Day, NBC Sports presents more exciting NFL action.
33:42Special time, 12 noon Eastern, with the NFL on NBC.
33:45Then, football feast.
33:47Marcus Allen and the Kansas City Chiefs taking on Barry Sanders and the Detroit Lions.
33:53Thanksgiving Day starting at 12 noon Eastern, right here on NBC.
33:57By the way, Thanksgiving, Kansas City at Detroit, Lindy Infani, when he was the head coach of the Green Bay Packers,
34:06admitted to us that on the board when he took Tony Mandarich was Barry Sanders.
34:13Barry Sanders.
34:13Most head coaches wouldn't admit that to anyone.
34:16He proudly said, I took Mandarich.
34:18And I think anybody else in the NFL that had that choice, they'd have taken him, too.
34:22But Mandarich has not done much.
34:25Barry Sanders has done everything.
34:27Third down for New England.
34:35Bledsoe steps up.
34:38Pass caught by Terry Glenn.
34:41First down, New England at the 30-yard line.
34:44Diedrich Mathis might have even arrived a little early.
34:47Didn't matter.
34:48Pass completion, 10 yards, first down.
34:51This young man, not big, not strong, but great quickness.
34:55And he's learned those veteran moves already.
34:57The swim move.
34:59And, you know, after this performance by the Patriots today, can you bet on a Friday morning practice next week?
35:05Yeah.
35:06Parcells had him out early on Friday.
35:09Was on their case all week.
35:11Look what happened.
35:12Glenn with his seventh catch, despite the fact that Mathis actually interfered, it looked like to me.
35:21Here's Curtis Martin again.
35:23Colts are about to get the idea on him.
35:25And they stopped him for only a two-yard game there.
35:29Well, I think this, that loss last week by Parcells, and there's a lot of ways that a coach can do it right or do it wrong, was handled perfectly.
35:38We'll take a break here with 7.41 left in the game.
35:45It's the NFL on NBC.
35:50Here is a graphic evidence of the maturing of an NFL quarterback.
35:54That crucial separation.
35:55Yes.
35:55Separation between yourself and Bill Parcells.
35:59Actually, that yardage allows Chris Palmer to get right between them, which works out perfectly.
36:04There is the personal coach now for all the quarterbacks on the New England Patriots.
36:09Not just Drew Bledsoe, but, you know, you pick up little things if you watch long enough.
36:14I like what you call him.
36:15He said he's a buffer as much as he is a coach.
36:18Yes.
36:19Flag down.
36:20And Bledsoe drills it complete.
36:25That flag is going to be on Keith Byers.
36:28Yeah, it looked like he turned up too soon, huh?
36:30Yep.
36:30Curtis Martin made the catch.
36:32It'll be wiped out, though, I think.
36:45Byers was the motion man.
36:47Looked like he turned up too soon.
36:48We'll see if that is correct.
36:55Larry Nemers and the group have had a relatively easy game to call, except for that one sort of confusing kickoff situation.
37:04There was an illegal formation on the line of scrimmage.
37:07There was no eligible receiver on the right side.
37:10Number 68 was the end on the line of scrimmage.
37:13The penalty has declined.
37:15Third down.
37:15Keith Byers, who has only been here a couple of weeks, was late getting over there on the shift, so the tackle was uncovered.
37:21Therefore, the illegal formation.
37:24And Keith on the sideline.
37:26He's learning.
37:26And Max Lane had his number called for the penalty, though, and it was Keith's fault.
37:31You don't want to make those 300-pounders.
37:34Think about it.
37:34And, of course, Max Lane, his story himself, played at Navy.
37:39Bledsoe chased from the pocket.
37:42He'll run and be caught from behind at the 40-yard line, but close to a first down.
37:47Look at there.
37:48Quentin Corriott tracked him down.
37:49Yeah, there's been the accusation by some people on Drew Bledsoe in print that he doesn't have the heart.
37:56Well, here, leading 27-6, he's mad at himself because he couldn't convert and pick up the first down here.
38:04I mean, he takes a hit.
38:05He doesn't go feet first.
38:07He showed something there.
38:08He saw him hit the ball.
38:09Doggone it.
38:09And looking immediately to the sideline to see if he had enough for the first down, they're going to measure.
38:16Looks like he might have been just short.
38:27And, indeed, he was.
38:28Yeah, Parcells.
38:29Just short.
38:29Parcells will probably yell at Drew for that.
38:33Oh, is he going to go for it here?
38:36It's been that kind of a week.
38:37But the punt team comes out.
38:41Yeah, the good news is Patriots have dominated.
38:43They've won.
38:44They've done everything Parcells wants.
38:46The bad news is that's one less trick that Parcells has to use on his team.
38:50This rant and raven in a Friday morning practice.
38:53What's he going to do next week?
38:58Look at Bledsoe.
39:01And he doesn't want to hear it.
39:02Thank you very much.
39:07Tom Tupa is the punter.
39:18Brian Stabline awaiting the punt.
39:22Not a very good snap.
39:23Tupa sends it to Stabline at the 20.
39:28First man dodged.
39:30Second man got him.
39:31Down at the 25-yard line.
39:33That second man was Mike Barthroon.
39:36Five-yard return of a 40-yard punt.
39:40Time for those who just tuned in.
39:41We're going to show you Jim Harbaugh's injury again.
39:44Willie Clay over the top of Marshall Falk.
39:47The hyperextended left leg of Jim Harbaugh.
39:52Medial collateral ligament.
39:54Don't know how serious it is.
39:55Strain.
39:56They have to wait.
39:57They now have that MRI.
39:58They can show him exactly.
39:59He's on crutches.
40:00And by Lindy and Fonny's declaration, a loss here puts him out of the playoffs.
40:07This is it for the Colts for this season.
40:13Their record will go to 6-6.
40:16As Paul Justin looks over a dying defense.
40:21Whoops.
40:23Wobbly pass.
40:24Stave line catches it, however, for about 10 yards with Magruder and Clay sandwiching him
40:29as they go to their hurry-up offense.
40:31Trailing 27-6.
40:33Six minutes left.
40:34And really, the issue hasn't been in doubt since the first quarter.
40:37That's a measure of the dominance by New England on both sides of the football.
40:44Illegal procedure will cost them five.
40:46Nobody was ready.
40:47Well, New England, this is a big step for them.
40:52They will win their eighth game.
40:54Parcells thinks it will take 10.
40:56False start prior to the snap.
40:5863 offense.
40:59Five-yard penalty.
41:00Still first down.
41:01Kirk Loudermilk, false start.
41:03He was the center of snapping.
41:04So Parcells said it'll take 10, he thinks, this season to get in.
41:08This would be number eight.
41:09And he thinks the next two are also must-wins because they close with a couple of tough ones.
41:16Yeah, they do.
41:18And one thing about Parcells, he is one of those 24-hour-a-day, 365-day-a-year coaches.
41:29Justin heaves it far downfield, and no one can get there.
41:34Stave line was closest.
41:36Ricky Reynolds was trailing him.
41:39Ricky Reynolds, one of the coverage by Patriots.
41:41So the win today gives New England eight at San Diego and here against the Jets.
41:49Then they close with Dallas and at New York.
41:51Yeah, he puts stars against this on this game, San Diego, and the Jets.
41:56These three games, Colts, San Diego, and the Jets.
42:00You've got everybody's attention on Monday.
42:02There are some guys who just set themselves apart.
42:07They're difficult to be around.
42:09He'll drive you crazy if you're there for a week.
42:12But he knows what he's doing.
42:16So two AFC games coming up next.
42:19Crucial again for New England.
42:21Justin's pass deflected at the line of scrimmage.
42:23Couldn't pick up who got his hand up.
42:28It may have been 53 slayed, but I'm not really sure.
42:32It may also have been...
42:34Let's see if we can pick it up.
42:36Corwin Brown, number 30.
42:37Yeah, number 30.
42:38Marshall Falk with the pass block.
42:42That's just bad luck by Paul Justin.
42:43I mean, the chance that Brown gets his hand up there is pretty lucky.
42:47All right, then.
42:49So the Patriots have closed with two NFC games,
42:54hoping to win the next two against AFC foes
42:57and have done a number on Indianapolis today.
43:00Here's third and 15.
43:04Justin threw it behind his intended receiver.
43:07Justin, in relief of Harbaugh, is only five for 13 through the air.
43:12Well, you know, this season started so grandly for the Colts,
43:21winning four straight to start, and the injuries began to mount,
43:25and then it was an absolute flood of injuries.
43:28It's not stopped.
43:30I mean, there was a time, I think, several weeks ago,
43:32we did a Colts game, and he said,
43:34you know, we had 29 guys on the injury list early this week.
43:38We could not practice.
43:42Fourth and 15.
43:45Why not?
43:45They're going to go for it, and the snap gets away from Justin,
43:48picks it up, then he will be thrown around, but not down.
43:53Paul Justin downfield.
43:55He's got a man open.
43:56Can the ball get there?
43:57No, it'll be intercepted.
43:59No.
44:00He won the battle.
44:02It's a stable line, I think.
44:06Or Harrison.
44:07It's Harrison, 88.
44:0838 yards.
44:11That was a bizarre play.
44:16McGinnis was chasing him all around.
44:18Snap gets away.
44:20Here comes McGinnis after him.
44:21He spins him, but not down.
44:24And then, full trajectory.
44:27Marvin Harrison just kind of standing back there.
44:29And how it got through those two defensive backs' hands.
44:31It bounced off Clay and Malloy, didn't it?
44:33It bounced off their hands.
44:35I thought they had it.
44:36And into the hands of Harrison, 38-yard pickup.
44:38That's the way they drew it up.
44:45Dawkins, intended receiver, behind him.
44:48Again, now, at the end of that last catch,
44:51how in the world did this ball go through their hands?
44:53And right into Marvin.
44:55Great concentration.
44:57It was, wasn't it?
44:57Between Malloy and Clay.
45:01Simple completion.
45:07Well, there have been some excellent rookie receivers
45:09sprinkled throughout the NFL this season,
45:11and we have seen two of them today,
45:13Terry Glenn and Marvin Harrison.
45:16That pass was low,
45:29as Harrison could not come up with it.
45:32Defended by Ricky Reynolds.
45:36It's amazing that these folks in Foxborough
45:38last week had to sit through
45:40one of the most embarrassing losses here
45:42in this stadium.
45:43And, you know, the talk show host,
45:46the columnist, everybody starts firing
45:49stuff at the team, the coach,
45:52a week later.
45:54Man, they saw a dominant football team
45:56at exactly what you need in November,
45:59stretch drive to make it to the playoffs.
46:02And everyone in New England, I think,
46:04was talking about how crucial this game was
46:06this week.
46:07Parcells even had the fans' attention.
46:10Justin's pass caught by Stabline.
46:17Close to a first down.
46:19Hit by Magruder.
46:21Yeah, the fans were all saying,
46:22boy, it's going to be a big game,
46:23even up in Nova Scotia,
46:25where I was doing the skating last night.
46:26The fans up there who get Boston television
46:29in Nova Scotia were saying,
46:31boy, it's going to be a big game.
46:32Yeah.
46:32Matter of fact, I'm kind of disappointed
46:34you're not here in a tuxedo
46:35like you were last night with ice skating.
46:36I still have it, you know.
46:37I could break it out.
46:38We may need it.
46:40There's still four minutes left.
46:43Stabline with a catch.
46:44Hit by Lawyer Malloy.
46:45Well, you know, you go up there
46:46to do ice skating,
46:47you look like a maitre d' or a concierge.
46:50You come down here with that leather jacket,
46:51you look like a biker.
46:53I know some would say,
46:53I look like a penguin.
46:55Or a penguin, yes.
46:56No matter what I'm wearing,
47:01I look like a penguin.
47:02Stabline with another catch
47:07in front of Malloy
47:08and Justin calls timeout.
47:10Well, they're just not going to give up
47:12on this season.
47:143.27 left.
47:17It's been all New England today.
47:19In the season,
47:24that this is a much better team
47:27that he inherited
47:27than the one he had in Green Bay
47:30the other time he was an NFL head coach.
47:33Things began so rosily for this team.
47:35At one time,
47:36the only unbeaten team left in the NFL.
47:39And then,
47:40injuries decimating the team
47:42unlike any I can remember in recent years.
47:44Yeah, I agree.
47:45Playing a little bit
47:49just for pride here
47:52as Justin
47:52completes it to the five-yard line.
47:56And the catch is made by Stabline again.
47:58I think he's found a favorite receiver.
48:00You mentioned the injuries.
48:02Talking to Lindy last night,
48:03I asked him
48:03which set of injuries hurt the most.
48:05And he said,
48:06actually,
48:07when we lost our pullbacks,
48:08Roosevelt Potts suspended for the season
48:10and Jack Crockett got hurt.
48:12He said,
48:12that was the one spot
48:14that hurt us most in this offense.
48:19Justin throws a touchdown pass.
48:21Catch made by Marvin Harrison.
48:24That is his fourth receiving touchdown of the season.
48:27He beat Reynolds and Malloy
48:28for the score.
48:31Five-yard touchdown pass.
48:32Paul Justin's second of the season.
48:36And even though the Colts
48:37may not make the playoffs
48:39with this loss,
48:39now two to New England.
48:42They also have a loss to San Diego.
48:44Lindy has a lot to be proud of
48:46with these kids.
48:47I mean,
48:47they are not about to roll over
48:49and play dead.
48:51Yes,
48:51sort of the spirit typified
48:53by Jim Harbaugh.
48:54Yes,
48:55very much so.
48:57Blanchard kicks the extra point
48:59up and through.
49:00Actually,
49:03Paul Justin
49:04has done an excellent job.
49:07That snap almost got by him.
49:08He was looking the other way
49:09and his hands in his little pocket
49:12there on the shirt,
49:13but Marvin Harrison
49:14totally uncovered for the score.
49:17The Patriots run in a zone
49:18down here on the goal line,
49:19which is somewhat unusual.
49:21Nice little pick.
49:23And it works,
49:24you know.
49:25Chicago Bulls
49:26would have been proud
49:26of that pick.
49:28But Reynolds looked like
49:30he had his hands all over
49:31Harrison earlier anyway,
49:33so the two nullify each other
49:36and the touchdown
49:36comes to Marvin Harrison.
49:38Justin getting at least
49:40a little satisfaction
49:42out of what has been
49:42a cold gray day
49:43for the Colts.
49:44But now,
49:46I think,
49:46most excited playing football.
49:49Got to be an onside kick.
49:50I love onside kicks.
49:53By the way,
49:53Marvin Harrison,
49:54six catches,
49:5592 yards
49:56including that touchdown,
49:57so he's
49:58had a decent day
49:59in defeat.
50:01Patriots have their hands
50:02team on the field.
50:03Receivers,
50:04running backs.
50:07Oh,
50:07we just saw
50:08where he's going to
50:08kick it to.
50:09Did you notice that?
50:12They got both kickers,
50:14the punter and the kicker
50:14out there,
50:15Gardocky and Blanchard.
50:18Who dreams these things up?
50:19This is an absolute
50:20fire drill.
50:22Here we go.
50:24Nope,
50:25fake.
50:27And it's covered
50:28by Brown,
50:31Corwin Brown.
50:34I liked it, though.
50:38Fake left,
50:39go right.
50:40It even took a bounce,
50:41but unfortunately,
50:42right into the arms
50:42of Corwin Brown.
50:43You do want the ball
50:45to bounce so that
50:46there's Blanchard
50:47who fakes it,
50:47Gardocky kicks it,
50:49the ball hits the ground
50:50and the receiving team
50:51can't bear catch it
50:52over the head of Ben Coates.
50:53Brown takes it.
50:56Imagine how many times
50:57they've practiced that thing.
50:58Always worked in practice.
51:00Never works in the game.
51:01I want to know what kind of
51:05warped mind
51:05thinks those things up.
51:07Special teams coaches.
51:08Uh-huh.
51:09Well,
51:09enough said.
51:10Hank Coleman
51:11for the Colts.
51:13Mario Greer,
51:14the rookie from
51:15Tennessee Chattanooga,
51:16is in the game
51:17for New England
51:17at running back.
51:19Giving
51:19Curtis Martin
51:21a break
51:21after a tremendous game.
51:22And here he is,
51:23Greer.
51:24Why not?
51:25Greer
51:25bursting free
51:26and has a big run
51:28on only his
51:30sixth carry
51:31of the season.
51:33Morrison and Bels
51:34are combining
51:34to stop him
51:35after he
51:37showed Curtis Martin
51:38he's been paying attention.
51:41But look at the
51:41offensive line.
51:42Starter still in there.
51:44Every one of them.
51:46This goes for
51:4827 yards
51:49for Mario Greer.
51:50Best
51:51longest of his
51:53brief pro career.
51:55Greer.
51:56Actually,
51:56he has a 28-yarder
51:58so he's the second longest.
52:01Sam Gash
52:01had a good block
52:02for him.
52:02Here he is again.
52:03Greer
52:04to the 15-yard line.
52:08So I guess
52:08we can count this
52:09as closing the book
52:10on Curtis Martin
52:11who did not break
52:12his own
52:14carries record.
52:15He wound up
52:16with 35
52:17one short of it.
52:18We'll take a break
52:19for the two-minute warning.
52:2413.
52:25Thanks in large measure
52:26to the exploits
52:27of Curtis Martin
52:28number 28.
52:2935 carries
52:30139 yards
52:31and a touchdown.
52:33Also three catches
52:34in the game
52:34for Curtis Martin
52:35as Keith Byers
52:37gets a carry.
52:39Martin also had
52:40his seventh straight game
52:41with scoring
52:42a touchdown
52:43and set
52:44a new
52:45New England
52:45seasonal record
52:46with 16
52:48touchdowns.
52:49and Bill Parcells
52:52went back
52:52to basics.
52:53Curtis Martin
52:53supplied the running
52:55exploits
52:56and New England
52:58on the verge
52:58of win number
52:59eight
53:00and a big one.
53:02And I'm telling you
53:03they're going to practice
53:04next Friday morning.
53:05All those things
53:06that they did
53:06to get ready.
53:07I don't know.
53:07Sure.
53:09Or does he have to think
53:10of something new
53:11than a shocker?
53:15He fires again.
53:18And one point
53:19we should make too
53:20is that
53:20in this condition,
53:22this beat-up condition,
53:23Indianapolis
53:24is no Denver.
53:25No.
53:26You're absolutely right.
53:27But you asked me
53:28about all the other stuff
53:29that Parcells did
53:30as superstitious
53:31as Bill Parcells is.
53:33There is a very good chance
53:35that whatever they did
53:36this week
53:37they will do
53:37next week.
53:38I mean,
53:39he is
53:39he is
53:41terrible to be around
53:43when it comes
53:43to the superstitions.
53:44You can walk in his office
53:45if you sit in the wrong chair
53:46he'll tell you to get up.
53:48Sit over there.
53:49I mean,
53:49make no bones about it.
53:53And Otis Martin
53:54is staying close to Parcells
53:55unlike Bledsoe.
53:56He doesn't know any better.
53:58Well,
53:58he's had a good game.
54:01He's still waiting
54:02to hear that word of praise.
54:04Mario Greer
54:05another tough run.
54:12Well,
54:13that's just like
54:14Red's victory cigar
54:15give up the headset.
54:16Absolutely.
54:17This is one of,
54:17this week,
54:18one of the best coaching jobs
54:20Parcells has done
54:21with this team.
54:22He touched
54:23all the right buttons.
54:24He got their attention,
54:25coaching staff included.
54:27And I think his players
54:28understand that.
54:30Lindy Infante
54:31with a roof
54:32will handshake.
54:33His playoff chance
54:33is
54:34not very bright.
54:37He's looking for Harbaugh.
54:38He wants to make sure
54:39that Harbaugh is all right.
54:40And Harbaugh,
54:41of course,
54:41going down
54:42with the strained
54:43medial collateral ligament.
54:44Left knee
54:45talking to Bledsoe.
54:46and
54:48that just about
54:50will wrap up
54:51the season,
54:52an injury-riddled season
54:53for the Colts.
54:55We'll be back
54:55to rack things up
54:56from Foxboro
54:57right after this.
55:01New York,
55:02it's all over
55:02in Minnesota
55:03and what a way
55:03to end it.
55:04From five yards out,
55:05John Elway's pass
55:06tipped by Orlando Thomas.
55:08Harlan Barnett
55:08has a shot at it.
55:09Ed McCaffrey
55:10on the receiving end.
55:12Dives into the end zone
55:13with 19 seconds to play.
55:15The Denver Broncos
55:16have won eight in a row.
55:18John Elway's
55:1841st
55:19fourth-quarter comeback
55:2021-17.
55:21Let's go back
55:22to Foxboro in time.
55:25All right, Greg.
55:26Thank you very much.
55:2727-13 here.
55:28Boy, Elway and the Broncos
55:30are wearing
55:31the golden slippers
55:32this season, aren't they?
55:33They really have it going.
55:34They proved it last week
55:35as they came in here
55:36and embarrassed New England.
55:38Patriots bounce back today
55:39in a must-win game
55:40for both teams, really.
55:42And certainly New England
55:43much the better team today.
55:44I like their playoff chances
55:45based on this win today.
55:47If they play like this.
55:48Yeah.
55:48Now, all season long,
55:49they preferred
55:50to throw the ball,
55:51but today we saw
55:51a major dose
55:53of Curtis Martin.
55:54This is touchdown run,
55:55an absolute thing of beauty.
55:57Just freezes McElroy,
55:59the safety,
56:00breaks a tackle
56:00to the outside.
56:02His 16th touchdown
56:03of the season.
56:04It was all offensive line
56:06in Curtis Martin
56:07for the Patriots.
56:08And so,
56:09here are the AFC
56:10East standings.
56:11Buffalo beating the Jets.
56:14New England wins
56:15number eight.
56:16Indianapolis follows
56:17to 500.
56:19And Miami still to play.
56:20They play Pittsburgh,
56:22a tough game,
56:23tomorrow night.
56:24And of course,
56:24the Jets have been
56:25in the cellar
56:25all season long.
56:26So New England
56:27actually still alive
56:28for the AFC East title
56:30and looking good
56:30for a wild card
56:31at the very least.
56:32I agree with you.
56:33This is such a great
56:34confidence build,
56:36a confidence boost
56:37for this football team
56:38after that embarrassment
56:39last week.
56:39Great job of coaching
56:41by Parcells and his staff
56:42and the players now
56:43understand a little bit
56:45more about Bill Parcells,
56:46which is important
56:47in these playoff runs.
56:50Dominant performance
56:51by the New England
56:51Patriots today
56:52over the injury-riddled
56:54Indianapolis Colts
56:55who lost Jim Harbaugh
56:56during the course
56:57of the game.
56:58Final score is
56:59New England 27
57:00and Indianapolis 13.
57:02Coming up next,
57:03don't miss the conclusion
57:04of the World Cup of Golf
57:05from Cape Town, South Africa
57:07as the American duo
57:08of Steve Jones
57:09and Tom Lehman
57:10team up against
57:11the world's best golfers.
57:12That's coming up next
57:13here on NBC.
57:15Big victory today
57:16for Bill Parcells.
57:17For Bob Trumpy,
57:18this is Tom Hammond
57:19saying so long
57:20from Foxborough, Massachusetts.
57:22You've been watching
57:23the NFL on NBC.
