00:00:00They're not indicative of either team dominating 140 yards 156 yards no real domination there
00:00:10both teams are waiting for something to happen kind of a little bit tentative yeah and there
00:00:14have been no turnovers no fumbles no interceptions and you just get the feeling that something
00:00:18big is going to happen anytime decent on first down there is a penalty marker back at the
00:00:40line of scrimmage and it is against the Buffalo Bills if this is called for roughing the passer
00:00:46it is really going to hurt the Buffalo Bills they did an excellent job of rushing the passer
00:00:51on the play but they should just should not rough the passer you just can't do that and
00:00:57consistently win football games although they are bringing the ball down here to where he
00:01:02intercepted the ball the preliminary signal back at the line of scrimmage was holding against
00:01:08Buffalo what is it Mr. Seaman tell us personal foul unnecessary roughness number 74 intercepting
00:01:21team it will be first in 10 well that's a that's what they call a post possession play when he
00:01:28intercepted the ball somebody took a kind of a little late shot or a cheap shot on someone on
00:01:34the on the Patriots so they are going to retain the ball but of course it's just like a pun inside
00:01:39the 20-yard line so it's really not that bad for the Patriots Tony Eason shaking his head in
00:01:44disbelief Don Smith was the guilty bill they trail 10 to 7 14 42 left to play in the third quarter
00:01:53Greg Bell cutting back across the 15 Dennis Owens the nose tackle let's go back and take a look at
00:02:03the interception by Rod Hill whenever there's an interception the first thing you want to do is
00:02:07get a shot at the quarterback now let's see 74 here he's the one that that's all we're going to
00:02:11see but that's the play he's the one that came around after the interception and struck Tony
00:02:16Eason to draw the penalty but what happened that time is that Friar just outran the arm of Tony
00:02:22Eason that was a long throw that ball covered almost 60 yards in the air second and eight for
00:02:28the Bills at the 16-yard line Pruitt and Bella the backs behind Vince Ferragamo former Brown
00:02:37Mike Pruitt on the call with nothing working whatsoever Steve Nelson number 57 with a stop
00:02:43and once again the Natives are getting restless well they want to score they certainly do they
00:02:47want to score before there's a player number 57 Steve Nelson has been out there for about 12 years
00:02:53now and still plays with the same tenacity that he did ten years ago I've always been a great
00:02:59admirer of his ability a real leader on that defense another player the Bills picked up this
00:03:05week former Buffalo Bill and a member of the electric company Joe DeLama lure on the key
00:03:10blockers for OJ Simpson in those years and now Ferragamo with a third down and seven on the 18
00:03:15yard line heading for Brookings in and out of his hands Roland James and Jim Bowman down on
00:03:28coverage well Ferragamo both quarterbacks are kind of loosening up in this second half evidently they
00:03:34came in they've regrouped and they just said look we've got to attack more we've been too conservative
00:03:39in the first half we've got to throw the ball downfield now what that does is that allows your
00:03:43defensive secondary to have to play a little bit deeper so then you can complete the underneath
00:03:48passes the short ones to your tight ends and to your running backs coming out of the backfield
00:03:52speaking of OJ Simpson Dave you played in the defense and managed to hold him to 250 yards
00:03:57Oh one game and then in a blizzard the held him you really came out and held him to 220 we really
00:04:03played a lot better that second game we held him to 220 yards rushing house in a blizzard though
00:04:07that's right fire backpedaling at the 26
00:04:15slipping through tacklers to the 36 yard line Dale Hellestra making the stop Bob 13 minutes
00:04:24remaining third quarter the Patriots over the Buffalo Bill New England on their own 35 they
00:04:30lead it 10 to 7 John Hanna has started and gone all the way Eason on a square out it's short for
00:04:37Stanley Morgan Bob I want to clear up something on that OJ Simpson call that when we were playing
00:04:43up here of course it snowed about eight inches during the game and I can remember our coach out
00:04:46there it was really an intense person yelling see what kind of shoes he's got on because he was the
00:04:51only person who could stand up in that day and he did he run for two I ran for 220 yards against
00:04:57us and of course that was the year he went 2003 yards I want to ask you something what is that
00:05:01looks like is that a helmet holder or like a spare to me in case you lose the one out there you can
00:05:06always clip on the second one second and ten under pressure jumping it off excellent defense
00:05:15Martin Bayliss covering Tony Collins but all over them they were that was a great coverage by Bayliss
00:05:22he really picked him up coming out of the backfield but what pressure up right here you
00:05:25see he's just trying to get rid of it look at that hit by Bayliss he was right there that was
00:05:30Bruce Smith who's been under a lot of a lot of bad press or a lot of criticism about not
00:05:36being able to play the run of course he was the number one draft choice and then all the draft
00:05:40Kenny Sims knows what that's all about he's been under pressure for three years so what is it with
00:05:44defensive linemen number one picks you get they all expect too much of these guys they certainly do
00:05:48and it all depends what type of system you come from if you come from a run-oriented system in
00:05:53college it's hard to become a pass rusher third down and ten for Eason for the street and it's
00:06:00complete but it's a loss of four yards oh the Buffalo Bill defense has risen to the occasion
00:06:07urged on by their fans and they'll get the ball back with 1248 left to play here in the third
00:06:14quarter well we talked about the emotion you can see the emotion starting to build back for the
00:06:18Buffalo team if you're a New England fan or a New England player you have got to take that emotion
00:06:23out of this team they are a team that's been embarrassed they've got nothing to lose out here
00:06:27today and they're and that emotion as it swells it'll cause you to play to much greater heights
00:06:33and what you're capable of playing mostly to Tupou the special teams captain calling the signals
00:06:38rich Camarillo back to punt see a threat to run I don't think he's much of a threat to run not
00:06:48Camarillo by the way Rod Hill at the 20 beautiful driving kick and he'll at the 15 reversing his
00:07:01field penalty marker thrown as he'll gets to the 24-yard line Jim Bowman again down on special
00:07:09teams tackle Jim Bowman really has the speed to get down feels we watched Jerry Seaman he's going
00:07:14to come up and give us the call here he's our head referee I believe it's going to be a clip
00:07:18from where that flag is thrown that it was almost always an illegal block or a clip punt was 51
00:07:25yards in the return of nine by Rod Hill who has one interception here this afternoon the only
00:07:29turnover in this football game this again is going to put a lot of pressure on the Buffalo team
00:07:36because they're going to be back inside legal number 55 receiving team during the return Jim
00:07:44Haslett outstanding inside linebacker we're in the third quarter the Patriots lead at 10 to 7 but
00:07:52the Bills are back on offense Bills up to the line of scrimmage first and 10 at their own 14 and
00:08:00Ferragamo to put it up by Andre Reid pick up of eight yards Toby Williams downfield to make the
00:08:09tackle along with Larry McGrew number 50 McGrew Bob that plays an often overlooked play but if you
00:08:17said the right thing there Toby Williams number 90 who came back on the play the first thing a
00:08:22defensive lineman has to do is he has to rush the passer as soon as that ball is thrown he has to
00:08:26turn and run to the pass and that's what he did that time soon as the ball was passed he turned
00:08:31and ran and caught coming across him that's a great play by a young player so the Williams a
00:08:35tenth-round pick in 1983 real story there was a walk on at Nebraska flare out to Andre Reid did
00:08:42he stay in bounds yes it's a catch in a first down Lippert on the coverage Tony Toby Williams a walk
00:08:50on at Nebraska and his brother Jimmy was a first round pick of the Lions back in 1982 he was also a
00:08:55walk on at Nebraska well that they walked on the right direction and I'll tell you that 11-yard
00:09:03pickup on the pass from Ferragamo to Andre Reid I was watching that pass to read and then and I
00:09:09didn't even know if he came down with both feet and of course the controversy with the Houston
00:09:13game this past week with the both feet down very very tough call first down Bills good field
00:09:21position at their 34 stop and go to read it is a catch and another first down Roland James and
00:09:35Ronnie Lippert the 21-yard pickup but a penalty marker is back in the Buffalo backfield well the
00:09:43biggest play that will hurt a an offensive team is to have a holding call or a penalty flag when
00:09:48you just get a big play just like they did now this this this actually even though it's only a
00:09:5310-yard penalty it's really about a 35-yard penalty because it takes it takes away the 25-yard gain
00:09:59that you just had it adds 10 yards deep back so now you've got it you've got a facing a second
00:10:05down a 20-yard situation and that really hurts you can probably you might be able to see the
00:10:12hold right there and believe it was on will grant number 53 there's the feet both down in
00:10:19and you can see it's a 25-yard penalty it's not just a 10-yard penalty 1124 third quarter
00:10:28Patriots lead at 10 to 7 Buffalo first down and 20 at their own 24
00:10:43that's a large drops it take a look at what's going on around the major leagues the pennant
00:10:51races and baseball pirates leading the Mets and the Cardinals also losing Milwaukee Toronto the
00:10:58Yankees revived a bit leading Baltimore and those other two games have not started
00:11:07that's the ball that doesn't have the points on the end of the round one a little tiny one
00:11:14that they throw spear spear second down 20 at the 24th of Buffalo that's read in motion
00:11:23inside to Mike Pruitt and he snakes his way out to the 30-yard line Steve Nelson out of North
00:11:32Dakota State the two-time pro bowler he went in 1980 and he went in 1984 and he's the captain of
00:11:38their defense and a terrific guy he certainly isn't he's the one that has the momentum he's
00:11:43kind of the John Hanna on defense Jerry Butler checks in the game on third down and 14 wide
00:11:54receiver for the Buffalo Bills now it's third and long at their 30 this is a down that the
00:12:00Patriot defensive linemen just love third down long and here they come Chris Burkett at the 40
00:12:11yard line but he'll be about four yards shy of the first down Fred Marion on the coverage number
00:12:1731 Burkett last week Dave had the misfortune of having two perfectly thrown balls bounce off his
00:12:25shoulder pads and into the hands of the New York Jets for interceptions and you know who takes
00:12:30the blame for that the quarterback he gets it recorded as a sack and it's the same as if you
00:12:34threw it right straight to the defender there's John Kidd as long as 55 today and he'll stand in
00:12:40the zone 25 with Friar back as a lone safety at the 14 9 57 third quarter Patriots lead at 10 7
00:12:50great kick by Kidd roof fire at the 7 and only out to the 14 Hal Garner number 99 with the sure
00:13:02open field tackle decision has to be made there by the by the receiving team whether they want
00:13:08to feel that now there is a flag on the play so we'll have to wait here I think it's gonna be an
00:13:12ineligible man downfield yes that's what he signaled ineligible man downfield but you're
00:13:17not supposed to catch the ball inside the 10-yard line that's kind of a written rule for
00:13:22the receiving team and Friar did that time of course it was a low kick so he thought he had
00:13:26a chance for a return but it always inevitably gives your your offensive team a poor field
00:13:31position to come from the 13 or 14 yard line ineligible downfield number 21 offense still
00:13:39fourth down Patriots catch a break there Dave as they caught a break on the last Buffalo penalty
00:13:44in the bills reverting to their habits of last week where they had 14 flags whistled against
00:13:48them and now having two costly ones back-to-back that's exactly right they are they are they're
00:13:53starting to be penalized but the thing that really comes into play here it's a it's an
00:13:56insignificant penalty a five-yard penalty but the position now Friar standing now outside the 20-yard
00:14:02line so we're going to see how big a penalty this really is because it's an insignificant
00:14:07five-yard penalty but it cost your team 30 or 40 yards in field position ball at the 35 kid
00:14:15unloads again good hang time Friar at the 15. Gets a block, gets away, outruns Kidd, he could go.
00:14:27A touchdown for Irving Friar an 85-yard touchdown return.
00:14:44That's the point that I was making Bob it's it's not the insignificant five-yard penalty
00:14:50it's what that penalty does for you two things happened on that play Irving Friar was able to
00:14:55catch that ball outside the 20-yard line they had another opportunity the Buffalo Bills had
00:15:02just sprinted 60 yards down there on that play every one of their linemen were tired on this
00:15:07play they're just not running down as hard as what they were the first time so two things happen and
00:15:12you can call this what you want but to me it's an 85-yard penalty that they just had called for
00:15:18in downfield plus it's seven points and nobody is going to catch Mr. Irving Friar.
00:15:31Flags down on the line of scrimmage for the extra point is some frustrations on behalf of
00:15:35the Buffalo Bills begin to bubble over. Now if in fact this is on the defense it's an interesting
00:15:42call because what they do is they they assess the penalty on the kick but if it's on the offense
00:15:48of course it's marked off here. Number 77 defense a five-yard penalty will be assessed on a succeeding
00:15:55kickoff. As defensive end Ben Williams that they whistled for that penalty an electrifying 85-yard
00:16:06return by Irving Friar and Tony Franklin out of the hold of Tony Eason. It's perfect Irving Friar
00:16:19the second longest punt return in Patriot history they lead it 17-7 and no small measure to their
00:16:25specials team. Stephan Starring a 53-yard kickoff return and Irving Friar that scintillating 85-yard
00:16:33punt return for a touchdown. This is Anthony Hutchison at the seven. He gets away himself.
00:16:48Bob let's take a moment look back at that return you said it was an electrifying 85-yard return
00:16:53but you can see he kicks it past his coverage he gets outside what they call the wall you can see
00:16:58all the red shirts starting to come in he gets outside he's down the sideline and with his speed
00:17:03nobody's going to catch him nobody will run him down. It was the second longest punt return in
00:17:09Patriot history the longest Mike Haynes 89 yards against the Buffalo Bills November 7th 1976 with
00:17:19that punt return Friar moves to the fifth best overall in total punt return yardage and the
00:17:24Bills sputtering an offense here at a first down but more so than the kick the kick is really
00:17:29important don't get me wrong but this is really the test for Buffalo right now they're down ten
00:17:34points they're in the third quarter they've got nine minutes left in the third quarter and there's
00:17:38a man under a lot of pressure Kay Stevenson and they have got to come out and establish something
00:17:44here. Barragamo's been in this position before he can do it he's got the firepower out there he's
00:17:49got the weapons they just cannot panic and they just cannot quit at this time. We're gonna have
00:17:53to wait and see. Third quarter 843 remaining the Patriots lead Buffalo 17 to 7 second down
00:18:00and 8 for Vince Barragamo square out to Andre Reid he's been perfect this afternoon on that
00:18:06particular play Ronnie Lippitt running him out of bounds but they get enough for their first down.
00:18:10One of the big calls about Ronnie Lippitt is that of course with Raymond Claiborne on the other side
00:18:16that most teams run a pass away from Raymond Claiborne because he's such a highly respected
00:18:21cornerback so that puts extra added pressure on Ronnie Lippitt who's only in his third year and
00:18:26he is giving actually he's giving a little bit too much cushion on that play the cushion is
00:18:31the distance he keeps between the wide receiver and himself on a pass play. 11-yard pick up.
00:18:36First down Buffalo at their 45.
00:18:41That's Eason Ramsey number 87 in motion and this is Greg Bell with a handoff and breaking it out to
00:18:49midfield. Tippett number 56 the pro bowler from Iowa. Bob we talked about the the team being a
00:19:01reflection to be a coach and I think this Patriot defensive team is a reflection of their coaches.
00:19:06I know Eddie Tyatt very personally a great guy probably one of the great teachers in this game
00:19:11and he's taught these defensive linemen to come off the ball. Don Shinnick renowned in Baltimore
00:19:16played 15 years as a linebacker and he's got these linebackers really coming in answering
00:19:21you know answering the defense offensive charges so they are a reflection of their team of their
00:19:25coaches. Second down and six. A little square out it's complete to Eason Ramsey for our first down
00:19:32let's check out with NFL 85 and Bob Costas. Bob after Boomer Esiason's second touchdown pass of
00:19:41the day to Chris Collinsworth ties it at 20. Dan Fouts goes to Pete Holohan with the great
00:19:46one-handed catch in the end zone and the Chargers reclaim the lead at 27-20 third quarter in
00:19:51Cincinnati. Bob. A little barn burner out there the Patriots lead it here 17 to 7 and the Buffalo
00:19:59Bills have a drive working themselves with a first down at the Patriots 42.
00:20:04Looks like a reverse and he fumbles the ball. Andre Reed catches a break however as the ball
00:20:16falls right in his lap. Oh boy was he fortunate Toby Williams took an outside rush and when they
00:20:22came back with reverse that's the time that you don't want to come back with reverse you'll see
00:20:26it on your screen it's going to your right and you'll see Toby Williams number 90 was rushing
00:20:31and he almost took the handoff there he was back in the play there he is number 90 and he was
00:20:38really lucky to get that ball back as you said that ball bounced back up into his hands but of
00:20:42course that play cost them about 18 yards. Mammoth loss back to the 38 so it's now second down and
00:20:5130 for the Buffalo Bills and if there's ever a drive killer that was it. That is a big killer.
00:20:57Square out to Mitchell Brookins and he makes a nice grab in traffic. Just across midfield Raymond
00:21:07Claiborne making the stop. Cleveland Dallas Dallas 17 to nothing rebounding James Jones
00:21:13to Danny White option pass back to the quarterback. Pittsburgh over Houston Gary Anderson the field
00:21:20goal 39 yards he's got two in that ballgame. Denver squeaking by Atlanta third quarter 24
00:21:2621. Bartkowski a pass to Billy Johnson for that one of those touchdowns the Eagles still have yet
00:21:32to score a touchdown the only team not to do it. But look at the score nine to six over Washington.
00:21:37Third down 17 at the 49. Going for Butler what a catch by Butler.
00:21:57It's a first down for Buffalo. Bob we talked about the cushion that Ronnie Lippitt is giving. He's
00:22:05giving too much room for his wide receivers. He's not looking back at the ball in this play and he
00:22:10actually overruns it. You didn't even see him come into your play until late. He has got to play more
00:22:15more firepower up there. He's got to play closer on that play. Of course he's a young fella and
00:22:19he's you know you get a little bit worried about these speed to some of these wide receivers so
00:22:23you kind of give them a little more honor or a little more distance but he's got to come up and
00:22:27that's a play of quarterbacks where you live or die you or you can become a hero or a goat in a
00:22:32hurry. A 19-yard pickup terrific catch by Jerry Butler first down for the Bills to Greg Bell with
00:22:40a blocker in front and another first down inside the 20. A 12-yard pickup stopped by Larry McGrew.
00:22:52Well the Patriots have given new life to this Buffalo team. Buffalo was just about ready to
00:22:59fold. They got that reverse where they didn't get any yardage. They lost 30 to 20 yards and
00:23:04here they come back again with a pass to Butler and here's Greg Bell their inside scoring position.
00:23:09The Patriots only have a 10-point lead and there's over four minutes left in this third quarter. It
00:23:13is 17 to 7 New England but a first down for Buffalo inside the 20.
00:23:27He stays with the pass to the corner of the book.
00:23:31That is an interception by Raymond Claiborne. That's the Raymond Claiborne that we've talked
00:23:43about. That's the pro bowler the man that has more respect in that secondary than anybody else
00:23:48and you can see Kay Stevenson just about ready to throw his arms up. Why'd he throw that ball?
00:23:53Because he threw it in and we were talking about Lippitt not giving the cushion or giving too much
00:23:58cushion. That time Rayburn Claiborne was just inside the shirt of that wide receiver and he
00:24:03intercepted it and we're gonna have to be back in a couple minutes to see what happens to this
00:24:07Buffalo team. Well you don't go to the pro bowl because you have a catchy name. Raymond Claiborne
00:24:21has been a just a stalwart back there on defense and Ferragamo's going all the way against him.
00:24:27He's challenging Raymond Claiborne. You'll see him number 26. He's got the ball. He looked like
00:24:31he was the wide receiver. You can see he had him just covered. Almost knew exactly what Brookins
00:24:36was going to do. It sure put out the fire. Indeed it did as two key Buffalo penalties in this third
00:24:44quarter helped douse the flames as well. 306 left third quarter second down and seven. This is Tony
00:24:53Collins. A short gain and pushed out of bounds. Let's go back to NFL 85 and Bob Costas. Bob in the
00:25:05third quarter at Dallas the Cowboys go with some razzle-dazzle off the shotgun. Danny White hands
00:25:09to James Jones. The defense forgets about White. He slips around the left side. Wide open touchdown.
00:25:14Chip Banks punishes him in the end zone but it's too late. So White becomes a receiver and a catcher
00:25:24of a touchdown pass and yesterday Dave when watching the Bills work out I can tell you
00:25:27they also have that play where Ferragamo flares out of the backfield and takes a pass from Greg
00:25:31Bell. They have not obviously used it today. Well the quarterbacks in this game are so physical that
00:25:36they're really becoming weapons. Third down and seven for the Patriots at their own 23.
00:25:47Flag down and incomplete. Derek Ramsey was the intended receiver. I think Talley was offside
00:25:57again and if that is that's just something that this just kills the defense to give the offense
00:26:02another try at that third down and seven or eight yards so now it's going to bring down third down
00:26:08to you see Talley number 56 in the bottom your screen starts off early that really hurts your
00:26:12defensive scheme. They played an almost error-free first half certainly following last week's 14
00:26:21penalty field game against the Jets. Defense still third down. They didn't have any turnovers
00:26:28and they've had three big penalties here in the second half including the interception and things
00:26:35have really turned sour for Kay Stevenson in the Bills now. Well you can see the penalty the penalties
00:26:39are 60 yards and penalties and that that really does hurt. Any coach will tell you the thing that
00:26:44will kill an offense or a defensive drive faster than anything is a penalty. They just destroy the
00:26:51continuity of your team. Third and two. It's not so much to get the penalties it's when they happen
00:26:55to and they've been a key situations against Buffalo.
00:27:00Blaring at the car James but he couldn't catch up with it just a little too far and it'll bring
00:27:07up fourth down for the Patriots with 251 left in the third. Bob in fairness to this Buffalo team
00:27:12their defense has not quit I don't think that they've quit out there I just feel that they're
00:27:16just having a tough time just really getting it all together and things the little things they act
00:27:22just like there there's Talley again of course number 56 he's coming hard he's trying to make
00:27:26up for that last play but the little things when you're close and you're having problems the little
00:27:30things are the big things that make the difference they the little things turn into big things I
00:27:34should say. Rod Hill is deep standing at his 33 Camarillo at a 51 yarder today as long as this
00:27:42year 75 sparkling 47.3 yard average another great one off the foot of Rich Camarillo to
00:27:5123. Hill and Camarillo pushes him out of bounds 238 left in the third quarter the Buffalo Bills
00:28:08back on offense and trailing 17 to 7 a 49 yard kick in a 26 yard Rod Hill return. That just
00:28:16gives him a net average of 23 yards in that punt so it didn't it didn't help the Patriots he's got
00:28:21the ball almost at midfield but if Buffalo wants to get him back to it back in this game they have
00:28:26got to drive now and at least get three points they're not out of this game and there's a man
00:28:31right there that Kay Stevenson who hopes that they will drive this time Greg Bell and a quick
00:28:43hitter gets about four and they move into New England territory Steve Nelson Tim Vogler the
00:28:49right offensive guard out of Ohio State providing the block for Bell in that particular play to the
00:28:5548 yard line you know we when I played with Oakland we were the first team to really play
00:28:59the 34 defense and go to the Super Bowl and now most teams play that 34 defense the three down
00:29:05lineman with the four linebackers what it allows you to do is get a lot of players to the ball in
00:29:09a hurry there's very rarely do you break through for the big gainer through the middle because
00:29:13there's so many potential tacklers second and six at the 48 under pressure by Ken Sims and
00:29:21Ferragamo just dumps it off Sims is insisting he had the quarterback in his grasp and that
00:29:27meant the play should have been blown dead and he may win his argument I think he may be arguing
00:29:32also Bob that he grounded the ball because it looks to me as if it looks to me as if Ferragamo
00:29:38just throws the ball out now this may be construed as a bump now now that may have been a fumble that
00:29:43was kind of a little sidearm pass I don't know to me it looked as if he was trying to just get rid
00:29:48of the ball of course he had Greg Bell out there so maybe he was gonna underhand it and whip it
00:29:52to him at least there was some element of doubt but Ferragamo is now 18 for 30 the 215 yards one
00:30:00touchdown and one interception and a big one third down and six at the 48 first down yardage
00:30:09but incomplete intended for Chris Burkett with Roland James on the defense for the Patriots the
00:30:17thing that's really been impressive to me about this secondary of the Patriots is that they have
00:30:21really covered well watch 38 here at Roland James watch how close he is to the wide receiver when
00:30:26he's when the ball is thrown coaches talk about the closing speed look at that he almost could
00:30:30he could have intercepted that ball he closes so fast that reaction time it takes to when the ball
00:30:36is thrown to get back to that wide receiver that's the thing that really just you know just
00:30:40that makes a player so back back in 83 James intercepted three Joe Ferguson's passes here at
00:30:47Rich Stadium kid to kick it away under pressure from Don Blackman and it's a beauty with Friar
00:30:55waving for a fair catch and taking it at the 12-yard line 36-yard punt by John Kidd next
00:31:08Saturday NBC Sports continues its coverage of the 1985 baseball season some of you will see
00:31:13the Mets take on the Pittsburgh Pirates while others will watch the st. Louis Cardinals battle
00:31:18them expose our coverage begins at 330 Eastern with Major League Baseball and inside look the
00:31:24tradition is here the memories are waiting on the network of the 1985 League Championship
00:31:29Series Cardinals and Expos series gonna be a great series that's that pretty much could
00:31:33determine who's gonna win that who's gonna win a division place minute 43 left in the third
00:31:41quarter Patriots lead at 17 to 7 and Tony Collins diving out across the 19 guy Frazier number 52
00:31:49making the stop I was just gonna say do you know why I didn't play baseball because when you're six
00:31:55foot eight you've got about a five foot strike zone and anything that was close over the plate
00:31:59was a strike I was up one time in high school when a coach said I think you better go out for
00:32:04track and football so it ended my baseball career but sound like good coaching to me smart coaching
00:32:11second out of two for the Pats at the 18 first down and breaking it across the 32
00:32:23a 14-yard gallop for Tony Collins and they're starting to turn out some yardage well now's
00:32:31the time when New England can really become unpredictable we talked about the predictability
00:32:36of their team last week with a second down and four yard play they can pass they can run they
00:32:43can do things that they normally don't do they've got a 10-point lead there's only 38 seconds left
00:32:48in this quarter and they're going to go into the fourth quarter with a 10-point lead so they can do
00:32:52things they can trick them up first down Patriots at the 34
00:33:09Charles Rhoades number 26
00:33:15well I hate to put a jinx on a player or a team but just when we thought Buffalo is going to be
00:33:21out of this game they come up with a big play and all he does on this play is really just loses
00:33:26the handle it's he just never really got the handoff you can see the ball bouncing around
00:33:30there and look how bad Charles Rhoades want that ball that really takes some guts to dive in there
00:33:35and get that thing but a big big turnover on the 33-yard line but you can see it maybe we see it
00:33:40again he just does not get the handoff and there's the ball just bouncing around look at Rhoades go
00:33:45in there doesn't look like a quitter to me second New England turnover first fumble they've had an
00:33:50interception and it's first and ten at the 33 for the Bills Bell to throw and now to run
00:34:02first down inside the 17-yard line take a look at that play and that was the play that you called
00:34:11you just called it Vince Ferragamo drifted out into the flat and he was going to catch the ball
00:34:17but but at the end of the third quarter the score the Patriots 17 Buffalo 7 will be right
00:34:24back after these messages from your local station Enzo
00:34:47you
00:35:1719-yard touchdown pass from Ferragamo to rookie Andre Reid and the Bills are climbing back this
00:35:37is a big extra point they have to kick right here this is going to put them down three points yes
00:35:41three points so it's very very important that he makes this kid Norwood out of the hold of kid yes
00:35:491456 left in the fourth period
00:35:5613 stands Scott Norwood the Patriots lead at 17 to 14 with 1456 left in the fourth quarter
00:36:06well for those people who didn't see that play with a 19-yard pass play it was a plant pattern
00:36:13coming across the post Ferragamo had all the time in the world he completed it was a well-thrown
00:36:17ball and it's given new life to this Buffalo team because they're only down three points
00:36:22New England was just about ready to bury this Buffalo team when they really got new life and
00:36:27they've been rejuvenated now they've got a fight on their hands going to this fourth quarter
00:36:31well as soon as we get our video restored you can be certain you'll be seeing the touchdown
00:36:35pass from Ferragamo to Andre Reed for 19 yards that brought the Bills to within three points
00:36:46I wondered if Pete Axtell was getting a little bit nervous when New England started to pull
00:36:50away there he's probably crowing again see I told you see I told you no problem had
00:36:57the lock on this one sure Pete that's easy for you to say back there at NFL 85 all right the
00:37:02Buffalo Bills and Norwood will be kicking off from right to left and the New England Patriots
00:37:10down to our left with Cedric Jones, Stephan Starring and Greg Hawthorne will take the kickoff
00:37:16Patriots have moved into a 17 to 14 lead the Bills are hot on their trail with 14 56 left
00:37:23and this crowd has been rejuvenated the kick by Norwood it is high it is short it will be
00:37:29taken by Starring at the 8 to the 10 to the 15 far side 20 looking to take a 30 35 36 yard line
00:37:36Stephan Starring okay we are going to leave this game in Buffalo for the moment and join the
00:37:47Cleveland Dallas game the Cleveland Browns and the Dallas Cowboys in Dallas we'll be back
00:37:53and as soon as we have the opportunity we'll be showing you the Andre Reed touchdown
00:37:58catch from Vince Ferragamo that has made the score New England 17 and Buffalo 14 we have 12 minutes
00:38:04and 42 seconds left to play in the fourth period the Patriots lead by three
00:38:09and have a second and 13 from the shotgun Tony Eason
00:38:18to Stanley Morgan but it's well overthrown
00:38:20Bob here's a here's a Vince Ferragamo touchdown pass it's a 19 yard pass you'll see from the left
00:38:29side of your screen you'll see the wide receiver coming in he has a lot of time throws it up it's
00:38:34a well-thrown ball right in the seam man-to-man coverage with a with a short drop back zone
00:38:38and that's the thing that has really propelled this Buffalo team emotionally into this game
00:38:42look at that emotion there I mean there is they are playing a much different team New England's
00:38:47playing a much different team than played last week and lost 42 to 3 and their emotion is carried
00:38:52over on defense 12 and a half minutes left Pittsburgh over Houston Eason is 10 for 17
00:38:59for 90 yards and at one interception he has a third and 14 Morgan incomplete
00:39:11Rod Hill who has played an excellent game at cornerback for Buffalo
00:39:15and this crowd of about 40,000 rises to its feet for the Buffalo defense we've talked about emotion
00:39:23watch the emotion of these players now when he misses the ball watch the emotion of these players
00:39:28they almost intercepted there they're starring but watch the emotion these players before they
00:39:32were really coming after the ball they were jumping up there that's the emotion that you play with
00:39:37and that's the emotions they have right now they've been as we said a rejuvenated team but
00:39:41this New England team has superior talent Camarillo with his fifth punt of the afternoon
00:39:4912 22 left in the fourth Patriots by three
00:39:56Hill lets it bounce at the nine and into the end zone
00:40:00so our rejuvenated Buffalo Bill offense gets the ball and we'll have it first and 10
00:40:1512 to play in the fourth quarter the Patriots lead Buffalo 17 to 14 and the Bills have the ball
00:40:21Bob I just noticed that Raymond Claiborne's not out not out on the field right now they brought
00:40:26in Rod McSwain number 23 I don't know if something happened to Raymond Claiborne
00:40:30but that could really hurt the Patriots first and 10 of the 20
00:40:38caught by Ranson and out of bounds after a seven yard pickup
00:40:48both teams have their full three timeouts
00:40:56Patriots scored first on a Franklin field goal
00:40:59Greg Bell with a touchdown catch of 16 yards to put Buffalo in the lead
00:41:06Raymond Berry looking over his options Greg James a pass to Tony Collins putting New England back in
00:41:11front prior the 85 yard punt return for a touchdown and then the catch by Andre Reed second and three
00:41:19Andre Reed
00:41:22Blair at the bell getting away from Blackman and getting out of bounds after he picks up the first
00:41:28down what a move Greg Bell number 28 put on Don Blackman number 55 for the Patriots he is a Walder
00:41:37Payton type of runner this is just a little slip pass like the touchdown pass but watch right here
00:41:42look at that look at that move boy oh boy that had Don Blackman just grab an air and he gets out to
00:41:48Marker a big play for that team bad news for the New England Patriots for Raymond Claiborne out with
00:41:54a concussion not known if he'll return this afternoon and there are some of the visual
00:41:59sentiments of the Buffalo Bills fans they may be wearing the bags but they are cheering at
00:42:03the right moment for them here's Bell again hanging on for a short game as McGrew is over
00:42:10to make the coverage along with Rodney McSwain who is in for Raymond Claiborne
00:42:14baseball the Mets trail by one St. Louis and the Expos are now tied
00:42:19the Yankees hang on to that three nothing lead over Baltimore
00:42:22and Kansas City leading Minnesota with Toronto and Milwaukee tied up in one
00:42:27I saw an interesting article on Greg Bell and they asked him why
00:42:30why he was so fast his mom said that when he was a young boy he used to throw rocks at the big kids
00:42:35and then had to run home and nobody ever caught him so if that's what motivates you I guess I'll
00:42:40motivate you I guess I'll have my kid out there throwing rocks and running home
00:42:45self-teaching that survival second down and nine Ferragamo first down Andre Reed and a penalty
00:42:55marker is back in the backfield out to the 45 enough for first down yardage but we have to
00:43:00come back and sort out the penalty well the last time a holding call called it that they're
00:43:05indicating here and you see Ferragamo is objecting to it and so is Jones Ken Jones number 72 for the
00:43:12last time they had a big big fumble a penalty like this Ferragamo really answered the call he
00:43:17came out direct his team back in two downs the big thing that you don't want to do here because
00:43:22it's going to bring up second down and about 20 yards is to try to pick it all up in one play
00:43:26number 72 offense to the face still second down it was on Ken Jones who's the starting left tackle
00:43:34Justin Cross broke his arm last week in the game against the Jets Justin from Portsmouth New
00:43:41Hampshire the Bills penalized nine for 75 and at least five of those have been in key situations
00:43:48they weren't just yardage penalties they were emotional penalties as well Bob a great coach
00:43:54John Madden at Coachman Oakland used to say that four or five plays determine a game and many times
00:43:58those are penalties key penalties Bills facing a second down and 19 at the 22
00:44:07Ferragamo still with time the Metzalas then they pick up about seven with Blackman on the coverage
00:44:17clock continues to move 10 36 to play fourth quarter Buffalo trails by three and now
00:44:25face a third down and 13 when we talked about the pressure that Kay Stevenson is under there's a lot
00:44:31of pressure on this offensive team right here they have to pick up about 13 yards to get the first
00:44:35down the clock is running down it's down to about 10 minutes and every play becomes just it's almost
00:44:41like every play becomes crucial they have got to get out there and they've got to get that first
00:44:46down you can see 10 minutes on the clock Bill's showing four wide outs
00:44:53on third and 13 going deep for Butler in a crowd and it's incomplete
00:45:03fans hoping to catch a break with a penalty but it was not to be
00:45:07Pittsburgh defeating Houston 20 to nothing
00:45:16the Giants over the Cardinals 20 to 10 Phil Sims touchdown pass of 20 yards
00:45:22Atlanta Dan Henning over Denver 28 to 27 Philadelphia scoring a touchdown
00:45:28their first touchdown of 1985 and look at this one Cincinnati and San Diego that's a real defensive
00:45:35struggle how about New Orleans first time that they've scored over 20 points on fourth down kid
00:45:42to kick it away to Irving Friar Friar at the 21 cutting back and being dragged down
00:45:55but Tony Eason runs out on the field with the Patriot offense upon a 51 yards
00:45:59and a return of four yards 944 left in the fourth period the Patriots lead at 17 to 14
00:46:09fans trying to carry the bills on an emotional burst first down Patriots at the 25
00:46:16Derek Ramsey with the catch to the 32 Charles Rooms over to make the stop
00:46:24what is the big decision on Raymond Burry's part here whether to sit on this lead to try to sit on
00:46:28a three-point lead with over nine minutes left or to try and attack the offense excuse me attack
00:46:34the defense the big decision on that man's shoulders but an interesting thing he prepares
00:46:38a game every week regardless of who he's playing the same way prepares with the same intensity
00:46:45second and four at the 32
00:46:54Greg James to about the 35 Smurlus and Darrell Talley on the twin tackles for Buffalo I think
00:47:02he'll be a bit shy of the first down but he is going to be shy it's going to bring up a third
00:47:06down and one now if you really want to have some guts you throw a pass on this play because it may
00:47:11catch Buffalo quite off guard but the safe thing to do is of course to run with one of your running
00:47:16backs preferably preferably Tony Collins or well I guess Craig James is just as good in that
00:47:22situation but that's the safe thing to do let's just see what happens here third and one
00:47:39Tatupu very close
00:47:46I believe he's got it
00:47:47I think he's got it
00:47:52Mosey to Tupu who did not have a carry last week in the game against Chicago
00:47:56his second carry there of this afternoon
00:48:04and they're going to bring it out although it does appear from here that he has the first down
00:48:07eight minutes and 14 seconds remain fourth quarter the Patriots lead Buffalo 17 to 14
00:48:14see the direction that they ran over to Hannah and the Holloway of course there's number 87 in
00:48:19there Lynn Dawson who's an excellent blocker it's going to be close but he made it by the length of
00:48:24a ball at least you mentioned John and Dave and of course there was some risk about playing John
00:48:29today and he's apparently held up he certainly has held up one thing that John does and having
00:48:34played with him and played against him he only knows one way to play this game and that's full
00:48:39bore he is all the time full speed and some people questioned him coming in this game because
00:48:44they really thought the Patriots would quite handle quite easily the Buffalo Bills but it
00:48:48hasn't proven out to be that way today first down for Tony easy looking firing Ramsey at the 40
00:49:01man who had 66 catches last year running out of the H-back formation of course
00:49:06they have a new offense with two men in the backfield under Raymond Berry
00:49:09and Ramsey will not get nearly the number of catches but he is a valuable outlet and exactly
00:49:15so and you mentioned the fact that this is the coaching staff of Raymond Berry and the coaching
00:49:19philosophy of Raymond Berry he is throwing the ball safe passes the short button hooks and you
00:49:25can see the you can see the completion percentages there in the yards quite a difference but the big
00:49:30stat is that the New England Patriots have a three-point lead but every pass that Eason has
00:49:36thrown has been a so-called safe pass pretty much a non-interceptible one second and six
00:49:42and chicanery by the Patriots with Tony Collins getting sandwiched at the 44 Frazier and Bayless
00:49:49doing an upper and lower on Tony Collins sometimes you can break them back against the flow in other
00:49:56words against the grain and you can be very successful but there is a trailer on this play
00:50:01and he's the one that's going to keep the ball in you can see right there that James cuts it back
00:50:05now watch the hit he takes right here he doesn't see the man from that side and look at that hit
00:50:10boy that'll separate the men from the boys 32 there's another angle
00:50:17another big third down for the Patriots
00:50:27incomplete intended for Derwin Williams
00:50:34and apparently the Buffalo defense is held with 620 to play in the fourth quarter it's so important
00:50:42for your secondary to stay close not to allow those wide receivers too much turning room this
00:50:47is again everybody's doing what they call curl patterns there's the ball trying to throw into
00:50:52the seam but they're trying to throw safe and conservative pass but look at the emotion there
00:50:56you think that Gene Marv doesn't want to win this game first week back he's showing some emotion
00:51:03has Buffalo played well enough to save Kay Stephenson's job if they do come up short
00:51:08I think they have today they played they played very well this is a good New England Patriots
00:51:12football team and they have they played with emotion I think if we're talking about them
00:51:16being a reflection of their their coach when they're bad they're the same reflection when
00:51:20they're good a New England bounce off the puck by Camarillo hitting inside the one and bouncing
00:51:29back to the seven what a big big play a 49-yard punt no return and it's going to put Mr. Farragamo
00:51:37deep in the in his own territory and he'll have to drive it a long way to get a score
00:51:43this telecast presented by the authority of the National Football League and is intended for the
00:51:47private use of our audience any rebroadcast or other use of this telecast without the express
00:51:52written consent of the Buffalo Bills and the National Football League is prohibited
00:51:58quite a break for New England there on the football bounce to the seven yard line that
00:52:04found that ball actually bounced on about the four yard line and just just died right there
00:52:08the momentum would usually carry it in there but how are those for statistics you just wouldn't
00:52:12think you'd be behind with 250 yards over 250 yards faster but he is 17 to 14 New England 608 to
00:52:19play blocked at the line of scrimmage by number 90 Toby Williams
00:52:28Bob when those defensive linemen put their arms up they're all six foot five six foot six they're
00:52:32all very good very tall players when they put their arms up for that quarterback to throw through them
00:52:37it's kind of like throwing out in the woods it doesn't look like trees that are sticking up there
00:52:41you can see the hand there right in Ferragamo's face by number 90 Toby Williams
00:52:47606 remaining fourth period Patriots by three 17 14. Bills with not much room to operate
00:52:58second and 10
00:53:02they give it the bell and he's out across the 10 to the 11
00:53:06pick up of about four again Toby Williams making the stop for New England this is probably the
00:53:11biggest play in the game for the Buffalo Bills they're faced with about a third down and
00:53:16about four or five yards they have got to pick up this first down you can see the one game versus
00:53:22the charges look at their 455 yards there third and five so it's their biggest play so far and
00:53:31they're over 300 yards today
00:53:41thrown too far for Andre Reed with Ronnie Lippert covering so the Bills will have to punt from deep
00:53:47in their end zone and if you were a New England fan that's exactly what you wanted your defense
00:53:52to do to hold them deep in their own territory they should get the ball back inside the 50 yard
00:53:57line of course with the return to Friar today we don't know he's returned very very well but
00:54:02they'll have excellent field field position when they when they do in fact get the ball back
00:54:08clock shows five minutes and 26 seconds left in the fourth period Patriots lead at 17 to 14.
00:54:16Irving Friar has an 85 yard touchdown punt return to his credit and stands at his 43
00:54:24weak wobbly kick but takes a Buffalo bounce crosses midfield and the Patriots will have it
00:54:30first and 10 at their own 45 42 yard punt by kid so you do think that the Bills have played well
00:54:39enough that Kay Stevenson may live to coach another week well I think the jury should still
00:54:44be out on Kay Stevenson every team is entitled to a bad game there's too much up and down
00:54:49on this team but they've come out here and they play with emotion and they played they played well
00:54:55they haven't played well enough to win yet but they have played well they're playing a good
00:54:59football team too 519 fourth quarter clock shows Patriots first down at their own 45
00:55:09keeping it on the ground to Craig James to the 49 has let in on the tackle we're estimating Dave
00:55:21how much revenue the Bills may have been cost by their lopsided loss to the Jets last week
00:55:28in the Meadowlands which was televised back here to Buffalo and Buffalo officials feel that maybe
00:55:3420,000 fans more might have been here had the game been closer multiply that by $20 per fan
00:55:40with concessions and parking and ticket you're talking almost $400,000 more money at night
00:55:48you can't help that's for sure Robert Weathers keeping it on the ground and it's obviously what
00:55:58Ray Barry what a strategy is here yes with four and a half minutes left you've got to keep it on
00:56:03the ground here if you pick up a first down if they pick up the first down and they're able to
00:56:07run three more downs they should have it down under three minutes so it's really an important
00:56:11play here for him it's third down in about three yards they're going to go right back to what they
00:56:15do well and they've run well behind whatever success they've had today has been run behind
00:56:19Holloway and Hannah third and three in this crowd exhorting the Buffalo Bill defense to hold
00:56:26first down Robert Weathers as he cracks over right tackle behind Pete Brock Ron Wooten and Steve Moore
00:56:44clock continues to roll with 344 left Patriots lead at 17 to 14. Well here come three more runs
00:56:51now becomes the important time to when do you start calling timeouts each team half course
00:56:55has three timeouts and you have to utilize them very carefully here if they get down near the two
00:57:00minute warning and I guarantee you Eason is not going to put that ball up in the air
00:57:07he's got Weathers and Tatufu behind him and this is Weathers looking to get outside
00:57:12and does for about seven yards but he also is out of bounds with a little mix up over by the Patriot
00:57:18bench well there's a lot of heads in there they're playing hard their sims in their first number 77
00:57:27but they were upset about the late hit what they thought was a late hit out of bounds
00:57:31defensive coordinator Rod Rust
00:57:37Groves wants to get in with Don Shinnick I can't believe that
00:57:40shin bones what are you doing he's too old to fight anymore
00:57:49the clock is stopped with the out of bounds play 317 remaining there's Rod Rust with the headset on
00:57:55I think he may have taken a shot on that play also he looks like he's trying to gather his
00:58:00composure you can see as they go out of bounds here he's just about out of bounds there they
00:58:04drive yes I think he's up there cheering and Rod Rust was was evidently hit second and two
00:58:11and Craig James looking to turn it inside and apparently having first down yardage
00:58:17Sean McNanny to make the stop for Buffalo staying in bounds and the clock continues to roll with 303 left
00:58:23one advantage that the New England has right now is they know exactly how much time is on that 32nd clock
00:58:29and they're going to use that 32nd clock to its fullest
00:58:33Dallas leading the Browns the Giants comfortably ahead of St. Louis
00:58:39Denver coming back to take the lead over Atlanta 34 to 28 the Eagles finally scoring a touchdown
00:58:45but beating the Redskins in the fourth period and this one's still going on and some other planet
00:58:52first and 10 Patriots 32 two and a half minutes left
00:58:56James breaks it for big yardage but a flag is thrown
00:59:01that's probably going to be an inadvertent five-yard face mask the defensive lineman
00:59:06came through and reached out and looked as if he grabbed the face mask of Craig James
00:59:15and the Patriots able to come up with the running game when they've had to do it David in the
00:59:19closing minutes of the fourth quarter they have they've driven it they've driven it well but
00:59:23look at the face watch if you can see the face mask right here when he cuts back there's the arm
00:59:27you can't see that's number 76 Fred Smerless it's just a five-yard penalty because it's what
00:59:33they call the inadvertent face mask it's just a you know not an intentional face mask penalty
00:59:40Smerless out of Boston College in Waltham Massachusetts has been the object of some
00:59:44boos here this afternoon well I'll tell you I'd take him on my team he's a he's a very
00:59:49good player and he's played exceptionally four pro bowls he's a good one as they say
00:59:56back in Asheboro North Carolina he's a good one there's two minutes and eight seconds left and
01:00:04the Bills quickly call a timeout well they've called the timeout to utilize the second timeout
01:00:09will be when the two-minute warning comes so they'll be able to get a free timeout but you
01:00:14pointed out the fact that New England has driven the ball on the ground they've driven it from
01:00:18their own 45-yard line now they've driven it all the way down inside the 20 and they've been able
01:00:24to control the clock and it's going to be Katie bar the door if the Buffalo Bills do not in fact
01:00:29stop the running game of the Patriots they can't do much unless they get their hands on the football
01:00:37at this particular point 208 left to play oh Atlanta comes roaring back 41 to 34 that one's
01:00:44changed hands about five times that is a defensive struggle too you can really tell them right off
01:00:5375 points in that game it was 68 points in the Cincinnati San Diego game and of course
01:01:00immediately following this game on the Budweiser NFL report we'll update you on all the scores
01:01:06and the highlights as they become available to us the way some of these games are going today
01:01:10those fellows better have their their pencil sharp because I saw one score was what 34 34 the
01:01:16Cincinnati San Diego game and there's there's been a lot of points scored today
01:01:22okay is k okay time will tell on this one this will be a tough call
01:01:31let's take a look at who they have to face next week
01:01:36the
01:01:40Raiders are in Sullivan Stadium the game is sold out
01:01:48and the Buffalo Bills will be here
01:01:54excellent defensive play by Don Smith stuffing Robert into 14 over Buffalo two minutes left
01:02:00let's pause briefly for station identification this is the end of third and
01:02:04five at the 10th Mosey to Tupou off the hole and spinning for a first down
01:02:13big first down pickup by the Patriots you called it that is a big big first down by
01:02:18Mosey to Tupou the Patriots have had to drive the ball and you you can just get the feeling that
01:02:24Buffalo was not able to stop them on the run they've driven the ball from their own 45 yard
01:02:29line primarily on the ground they Buffalo has used up most of their timeouts there's only a
01:02:34minute 29 left unless something comes up that they've only got they got no timeouts left so
01:02:41Easton should just run the clock out now and many of the Buffalo fans heading toward the exits with
01:02:48that first down pickup by Mosey to Tupou a minute 29 left the Patriots lead 17 to 14.
01:02:55New England broke out on top with a 32 yard field goal by Tony Franklin
01:03:04then the Bills came back a 16 yard touchdown pass from Vince Ferragamo to Greg Bell
01:03:11Patriots come back the five yard pass from Craig James to Tony Collins then the punt return an 85
01:03:16yarder a gem by Irving Friar the second longest punt return in Patriot history
01:03:21and then the 18 yard pass from Andre Reid or to Andre Reid from Vince Ferragamo
01:03:31just took a look at the early games on the NFL 85 doubleheader and here are the late games
01:03:37for your viewing pleasure next week many of you will see the Raiders and the Patriots
01:03:44and the second half will it be Dan Marino and the Dolphins and the Broncos
01:03:47check your local listings for the games kick off with NBC Sports
01:03:53first and goal and Easton just falls down and the clock will continue to
01:03:56run because the Buffalo Bills can do nothing to stop it
01:04:05well it could be a questionable move but because of the points for the playoff you know you have to
01:04:09you have to beat teams by so so many points in order if there's tiebreakers but
01:04:14right now Raymond Barry wants to get out of here with a win he's played a team that's been very
01:04:18fired up they've played extremely well today meaning the Buffalo team but of course so has
01:04:23the New England Patriots well a dark cloud continues to hover over the Buffalo hover
01:04:28over the Buffalo Bills they've been penalized 10 times today for 80 yards last week was 14 times
01:04:33but a number of these 10 penalties were crucial crucial situations certainly the one as he just
01:04:40certainly the one as he just sits down certainly the one that allowed
01:04:43of course John Kidd to punt a second time to Irving Frye which he returned for 85 yards
01:04:49probably was the big penalty of the afternoon that was the big penalty that that ended up to
01:04:52being a being an 85-yard penalty it cost them seven points and that really was the whole ball
01:04:58game that was that was the determining thing in the ballgame that was seven points and if they
01:05:02had that seven points back it'd be a 14-10 Bills win the New England Patriots have extended their
01:05:07winning streak over the Buffalo Bills to six games
