00:00Welcome back to Ireland in View.
00:03Hey you, first time visitors to Ireland.
00:06Let's dive in and show you the best ways to see the country and mix with the locals.
00:104 million people visit Dublin each year and over 2 million visit the Wild Atlantic Way.
00:16With our help you will be a seasoned traveller in jig time.
00:19And how to enjoy Ireland like a local.
00:22We have this video packed with up-to-date information
00:25and we don't want you getting caught out.
00:28First things first, in Dublin the things to enjoy or avoid depend on your taste.
00:33There are 25 different visitor attractions in central Dublin all walkable.
00:38Temple Bar is party central and if you enjoy that that's great.
00:42It's expensive and it's not everyone's pint of Guinness.
00:45Secondly, no one needs a car visiting Dublin.
00:48Public transport is good and with a small city it's walkable.
00:52If you fly into Dublin the city centre is half an hour by bus or taxi.
00:56A taxi will be approximately 40 euro or by bus under 10 euro.
01:01To pick up your hire car there are car hire offices in the city close to the centre.
01:06You don't need to pick your hire car at the airport.
01:08There are drop off points throughout southern Ireland for most car hire companies.
01:13To visit Northern Ireland which is part of the UK.
01:16Make sure your car insurance will be included in the quoted price.
01:19And not an extra in the price you are quoted.
01:23Also, make sure Irish Republic road tolls are taken care of even if it's an extra when you return the car.
01:29Otherwise you will end up paying at each toll booth in cash or by credit card.
01:33There are no road tolls in Northern Ireland.
01:36They use miles per hour. The Republic uses kilometers per hour.
01:40Also check your car when collecting it.
01:42Take a few photographs of the body work around it.
01:45Don't get caught out with marks someone else inflicted on it.
01:48Also, take a few moments to familiarize yourself with the car before driving off.
01:53Keep to the speed limit because particularly in Northern Ireland the police can be very difficult if you are caught speeding.
02:00By the way, if you are finding our channel useful, may we ask you to share, follow and subscribe?
02:06It all helps us to grow the channel. We try to be as helpful as possible. Thank you.
02:11Did we mention the weather? Yes, it changes frequently.
02:15Layer up to peel off would be our advice and pack a rain mac.
02:19Anything you need can be bought in Ireland so you don't need a massive suitcase either.
02:24Also, if you are from the US, our cars are that bit smaller so you may not have enough room for your luggage.
02:29Travel light is our advice. Visiting Northern Ireland, you may need a UK government electronic travel authorization document.
02:38As of February 25, anyone entering Northern Ireland through the Republic land border or anywhere else in the UK.
02:45If they are from outside the EU or the Republic will need an ETA.
02:50EU citizens will be included in this later this year if plans stay on course.
02:55We will have a link in the description.
02:57To get to the real scenic Ireland though, beyond the last train station, you really need a car.
03:03If you are not hiring a car then, to travel outside major cities, you will use public transport and the odd taxi.
03:10In this situation, the best thing to do is download the Transport for Ireland app to your phone.
03:16This will give you real time travel information on trains, buses and walkable distances to where you need to go.
03:23To travel by train, you will need to book around three weeks before travel online as it will be cheaper and you will be able to book your seat as well.
03:31You can also pay an experienced driver to take you round and there are a number of these available.
03:37Importantly, be aware of your own safety.
03:41Ireland is statistically a very safe country.
03:44However, in Dublin, like any larger city, you need to be aware of your own safety.
03:49We regret having to say this, but as locals, we know the safer or less safe parts of the city.
03:54So please be aware of your own safety at all times and you will have an enjoyable trip.
04:00Once you have picked up your car, get Google Maps or something similar and drive to where you want to go.
04:06Driving on the left is not that difficult.
04:09We always say if you can drive an American Freeway or an Autobahn, you can drive anywhere.
04:14Do plan your journey ahead of time.
04:16As Irish roads beyond the motorways tend to be slow and it can take more time than you might have realized.
04:22The first thing to do visiting Ireland is never to rush.
04:26The only city with a fast pace in Ireland is Dublin, but it's way slower than London or New York.
04:31The slower pace of life in rural Ireland is part of the charm.
04:35We see so many visitors trying to fit so much in.
04:38It's better to take your time, soak in the scenery and come back for more.
04:42In contrast, if you visit Galway, which is about half the pace and about a tenth the size of Dublin,
04:48and then visit Kerry, which will be nearly asleep, you will see what we think is the real Ireland.
04:54Now you are here, where do you want to go?
04:57On the world map, six places in Ireland stand out in terms of visitor must-see locations.
05:02Dublin, Cliffs of Moher, Giants Causeway, Killarney and Galway are the places most of interest.
05:08But there is much more, beyond in the charming small towns and villages that are not so prominent.
05:14Kenmare, Kinsale, Cove, Clifton, Kong, Kinvara and Bushmills are just a few.
05:20We would always look beyond the obvious sights and explore the back roads because you never know where they lead you.
05:26We hope you found this video useful and you enjoy your trip to Ireland.
05:31This is how we, as locals living in Dublin, travel Ireland.
05:35We have another video above.
05:37Visiting Ireland, 20 things to avoid doing.
05:41Please have a look.
05:42If you have enjoyed this video, we would appreciate if you follow and subscribe.
05:46We have many more on how to see Ireland, the best way and the things to avoid.
05:52Thanks for watching.
05:53Sláinte.
