00:00Mr. Chairman, you know why the Democrats dislike this bill so much?
00:03Because it's so darn Republican.
00:05Does three fundamental, embraces three fundamental Republican principles.
00:10Cut taxes, secures the border, requires work.
00:13We're the party that believes you should let mom and dads keep more of their money
00:16to chase down their goals and dreams.
00:18We're the party that believes you should actually have a secure border.
00:21This bill does it, as Chairman Green just pointed out.
00:24And we're the party that believes able-bodied adults,
00:27if they're going to get your money, should have to work.
00:30It's good for taxpayers.
00:31It's good for the economy.
00:33Most importantly, it's good for that individual.
00:35This bill embraces three fundamental principles of our party.
00:39That's why I think it's really important that Republicans lean in
00:43and go tell the American people how important this legislation is,
00:46how it keeps faith with what we told the voters we were going to do last November,
00:51why they elected us, and it's right on point.
00:55So I'm confident we're going to get there this week,
00:58get the votes that we need to get this thing passed,
01:00because it does the things we said we were going to do.
01:03With that, I yield to the chairman of the Ways and Means Committee, Chairman Smith.
