'I'm Personally Offended By These Lies': Tracey Mann Laments Dems' Attacks On GOP Budget Proposal

00:00Thank you. Mr. Speaker, yesterday the House Agriculture Committee marked up our portion

00:08of the one big, beautiful bill to deliver on the mandate the country gave us on November 5th,

00:122024. In total, we saved American taxpayers more than $295 billion and made long overdue

00:19investments to support the farmers, ranchers, and agriculture producers in the big first in

00:23all over rural America. I'm very proud of all that we were able to accomplish. However,

00:28Mr. Speaker, I've been greatly disappointed in how some of my Democratic colleagues have

00:32continued to blatantly lie about the legislation throughout this process. Rather than work together

00:37to get our fiscal house back in order and ensure programs like Medicaid and SNAP are on a sustainable

00:42path, they have chosen to misrepresent and oppose everything we're working towards. As the

00:47Fitch Foundation to grow up and work on my family farm, I understand the weight and the pride our

00:51nation's farmers have in feeding, clothing, and fueling the world. Not a single member of this

00:56body wants to see people go hungry, and I'm personally offended by these lies. We want

01:01families to be able to put food on their tables. The difference is, Mr. Speaker, we want these

01:06programs to actually serve the most vulnerable communities for generations to come. The single

01:11mom taking care of kids too young to be in school. The disabled. The elderly. Not the person who wants

01:16the government to foot their bill while they sit at home. Why would we willingly jeopardize

01:21the benefits of vulnerable Americans for someone who's perfectly capable of making an honest income

01:26but just isn't willing to join the workforce? These programs were meant to be a bridge to a better

01:30life. They were intended to help Americans who fell in hard times and needed a helping hand,

01:35but today my Democratic colleagues are defending them as a final destination. That's not right,

01:41Mr. Speaker, and it's anti-American. Even former President Biden once said, quote,

01:45the culture of welfare must be replaced with the culture of work. The culture of dependence must

01:51be replaced with the culture of self-sufficiency and personal responsibility, and the culture of

01:55permanence must no longer be a way of life, end quote. This used to be a bipartisan agreement we

02:00could all rally around. I sincerely ask my Democratic colleagues, what has changed? We live in the greatest

02:06country in the world and where anyone from anywhere can come here legally, make an honest living,

02:10and pursue their American dream. That is what House Republicans are fighting for. It's

02:15unfortunate that the other side would rather see programs that were meant to help the neediest

02:20Americans continue to be riddled with fraud and abuse, intentionally mismanaged, and undermined

02:25all of it for the sake of scoring political points. House Republicans are committed to ensuring our

02:30programs help the most vulnerable Americans, slashing wasteful, fraudulent, and abusive spending,

02:35and preventing American families from seeing a $2,200 tax increase next January. That's what this

02:41is all about, and that's why 77 million Americans endorsed this last November. I'm disappointed that

02:46not a single Democrat has been willing to work with us, but I feel confident with this majority,

02:51along with the Senate and President Trump, we will deliver for the country.

02:56Mr. Speaker, this week, the nation has come together to celebrate National Police Week,

03:02a time to honor the brave men and women who wear the badge and put their lives on the line on every

03:06single day to protect our families and our communities. In the big first and across the

03:11country, law enforcement officers run towards danger when many would run away. They wake up every

03:16day with a calling to uphold the rule of law, serve their neighbors, and keep their communities safe.

03:22And yet, too often, they are met with hostility and policies from Washington that make their job harder

03:27and put their safety at risk. Let me be clear. I unapologetically stand with the men and women in blue.

03:33I will always oppose any effort to defund, demoralize, or dismantle the law enforcement

03:39agency that keep our streets safe. These men and women put their lives on the line every day to make

03:44our community stronger, safer, and more secure, and we should all be grateful. I express my deepest

03:50gratitude to the police officers, customs and border patrol agents, detectives, state troopers,

03:56sheriffs, investigators, correction officers, drug enforcement agents, and U.S. Marshals who

04:02have dedicated their careers to serving their communities. Today and every day,

04:07we recognize your sacrifice and honor all that you do to serve our great nation.

04:13America is grateful for all that you do. Thank you. And with that, Mr. Speaker, I yield back.
