In House floor remarks on Tuesday, Rep. Lucy McBath (D-GA) slammed the GOP reconciliation budget bill.
Transcript
00:00Mr. Speaker, I wish to address the House for one minute and revise and extend my remarks.
00:04Without objection, the gentlewoman is recognized for one minute.
00:08I rise in opposition to attempts by Republicans to slash health care that millions rely on just
00:14to benefit Elon Musk and the friends of the President. Almost 14 million Americans will
00:19lose health care coverage if this plan is successful. This is life or death. In my home
00:26state of Georgia, these Republican cuts impact two million people, real people. A single mother
00:33in Atlanta working two jobs is now facing losing her Medicaid. A veteran in rural Georgia now has
00:39to face red tape just to get the benefits he earned serving our country. This isn't about
00:45accountability. It's about taking food and health care from people who need it most. We've seen how
00:52these policies fail. In Georgia, red tape and paperwork errors have already kicked thousands
00:59off their health care coverage, even when they're eligible. This isn't reform. This is cruelty.
01:07We need to protect health care for working families, not strip away their lifeline. And I yield back.
01:14The gentlewoman yields back. For what purpose does a gentleman from Colorado seek recognition?
