00:00Thank you. Thank you. Now, Representative Jim Jordan. Thank you, Senator. First
00:05institution the good Lord put together wasn't the church, wasn't the state, it
00:09was moms and dads and kids. Frankly, the strength of that institution, I think,
00:13determines the strength of our entire culture. Byron is exactly right. This
00:16legislation empowers moms and dads, not the government. It gives the choice to
00:22parents, not bureaucrats. I remember we debated this in Ohio 30 years ago. First
00:27school choice program we did in Cleveland. People say, oh Jim, you think
00:31some single mom in welfare who maybe didn't graduate herself from
00:35high school can make a decision about where her son or daughter can go to
00:39school over the bureaucrats in the Department of Education or in the State
00:42Department. I said, yes, I do. I sure do. At least they know the kid's name, right?
00:48They care more about that individual than anyone else. Of course we want to empower
00:51them. That is what this legislation does. Empowering moms. I've said all along, when
00:55we get into politics and recruiting candidates, everything else, I said, tell
00:58me where you stand on school choice. If they're good on school choice, they're
01:01good on every other issue. You think moms and dads are best equipped to pick
01:05where their kids go to school? You're gonna be good on tax cuts because you want
01:08moms and dads have more of their money to go after their goals and dreams and
01:11help their kids. That is the defining issue. You want someone good to run for
01:14office? Find out where they are on school choice. And if they're therefore
01:18empowering parents, they're gonna be good. They're gonna be good. And this
01:22legislation does. You know why the left hates it? Because it doesn't empower
01:26government. They don't like, I tell people the big beautiful bill is a good
01:29bill and you know it's a good bill because the left hates it. Because it
01:32gives parents more of their money to chase after their goals and dreams.
01:35Gives them the choice to pick where their kid goes to school. Imagine that. Left
01:38can't have that. No, no, no. It's all about empowering government. This is good. And as
01:42the senator said, this is the issue. Because it determines everything else. If you get
01:47this when you get all the other things. So I appreciate the work that so many of
01:51these guys. Burgess has been working. Tim chairs the committee. All these, all the
01:55folks who've worked on this and all of you. You're out there fighting it every
01:59day. Like, God bless you all. This is, this is good. And if we get this done, we get
02:04this done, this will be, this will be big for our, for our country, for our great
02:09country. I now recognize the chairman of the education committee, Mr. Wahlberg, and he's a
02:13great guy even though he's from Michigan.
