00:00Hello, good morning. We may have seen the hottest starts to May on record but a

00:05significant change in temperatures is expected over the next few days with

00:10cooler air spreading in from the northwest. Scotland and Northern Ireland

00:14already experienced that cooler air on Thursday and during Friday we're seeing

00:18it push into central parts. A couple of showers first thing through the middle

00:21part of Wales and the Midlands, one or two showers further south possibly as

00:26well but variable amounts of cloud are expected and a big temperature contrast

00:31once again. For most it's mid to high teens but in the south and southeast still

00:36the potential for 26, 27 Celsius and the odd heavy shower breaking out across

00:40southern counties of England into the afternoon. Nevertheless that warmth in the

00:46south does get eroded away overnight as the cooler air moves south and in fact

00:51it's going to feel chilly overnight in some northern areas with showers moving into

00:55the north of Scotland. A lot of cloud for Scotland and temperatures in some parts

00:59of northern England down into the low single figures. Still just about double

01:02figures in the south but a cooler night compared with many nights so far this

01:07week. And then we begin Saturday with an area of cloud and some showers drifting

01:12north from the English Channel. These will be hit and miss but there's the

01:15chance of a thundery downpour or two in this area. Further north a lot of fine

01:20weather, some decent sunny spells but patches of cloud and further showers

01:24coming in on a northerly breeze across the north of Scotland. Now that air is

01:28going to filter its way southwards on Saturday night into Sunday and that means

01:33that many parts of northern and eastern UK will experience cold winds and some

01:39showers moving in from the North Sea. Brighter skies further west and feeling

01:43warmer but nowhere near as warm as it has been. And into bank holiday Monday

01:49significantly cooler compared with the week so far across the whole of the UK.

01:54But having said that high pressure is still going to remain close by and that

01:59means there'll be plenty of dry and fine bright weather to experience through bank

02:04holiday Monday and throughout much of next week that high pressure sticks around

02:08keeping things dry and settled for the most part.
