00:00Hello, good morning. We've seen plenty of sunshine through the week but, well, I hate

00:04to break it to you, it's not going to last into the weekend. In fact, you've probably

00:08already seen plenty more cloud and spells of rain out there this Saturday morning, all

00:13because of this area of low pressure which has been lurking near Iberia through the week.

00:17It's now moving across the UK or progress eastwards through the weekend very slowly

00:22and bringing spells of rain with it. Now, there are two main areas of persistent rain

00:26to watch out for on Saturday, one draped across western Scotland into Northern Ireland,

00:30some large rainfall accumulations from that, and another one just affecting the far north

00:34of Scotland into parts of Aberdeenshire. In between, there will be some brighter and drier

00:40weather and as the sun gets to work, it will be feeling warm once again. But, of course,

00:44that warmth with the instability in the atmosphere could spark a few heavy showers and these

00:50will be slow moving because of a lighter wind across central parts and the greatest threat

00:55of those showers occurring will be through central parts of the UK. But they could hit

00:59just about anywhere through England, Wales, central and southern Scotland. Then it all

01:02gets very messy overnight with these spells of rain rotating around the area of low pressure.

01:07Again, a damp night to come for Scotland into parts of north-west England, showery rain

01:11elsewhere and a lot of cloud, increasingly thick and low cloud affecting eastern coasts.

01:16Of course, that's going to keep things frost free on Sunday morning, but it is a dreary

01:20start for many, particularly in the east. Not much brightness about, I suspect, on Sunday

01:26morning, although there could be a few cloud breaks towards the south and increasingly

01:31towards the north-west. That's where our area of rain tends to fizzle away as high pressure

01:36builds in from the north-west. But the focus on Sunday afternoon will be this area through

01:42the midlands, parts of east Anglia, southern counties of England and south Wales, where

01:46again some slow moving and lively showers could develop. Hit and miss, as is always

01:50the case in these situations, away from the showers with some cloud thinning, could see

01:56temperatures of 14 Celsius. But it's going to feel much cooler in the north and the east

02:01because of the breeze coming from the North Sea. Now into next week, the weather does

02:05tend to become a little quieter. It's not going to be as settled as the week we've just

02:09experienced. But I think there will be a ridge of high pressure close to the south and there

02:14will be a mixture of light rain, moderate rain and showers towards the north.
