00:00Hi there, and welcome to the latest update from the Met Office. Cold wind, warm sun – that's

00:06the theme during the next few days, typical March weather. And it's overnight that the

00:12clearing skies start to take place with eastern parts and then southern parts seeing those

00:17clear skies widely. A bit more cloud remains across Wales, Northern Ireland, the north

00:22and west of Scotland for a time overnight. But where we've got the clear skies elsewhere

00:26and where we've got the light winds, particularly the northern half of the UK, a widespread

00:29frost is expected. Temperatures in some sheltered spots of northern England and Scotland down

00:34below minus 5 Celsius. Not particularly frosty in the south because we've got more of a breeze.

00:40That breeze will be feeling cold on Tuesday in the south and the east in particular. But

00:46it's going to continue to blow away. The cloud becoming confined to western parts of Northern

00:50Ireland by the end of the day and perhaps Shetland. But widely elsewhere, it's just

00:54sunny skies and after that chilly start, it will warm up a little. In fact, it will be

00:58a touch warmer compared with Monday afternoon, 10 to 11 or 12, 13 Celsius in some of the

01:03warmer spots. But in the wind, it will continue to feel on the chilly side. Now, Tuesday night,

01:10we'll see widely clear skies across the country and with lighter winds across some inland

01:16and northern parts of the country. That's where, again, we'll see a widespread frost

01:19emerge. One or two fog patches as well by the start of Wednesday. Otherwise, it is a

01:24chilly start once again. Wednesday morning, if you're out first thing, temperatures widely

01:29below freezing from the Midlands and Mid Wales northwards. But we've got this southerly airflow

01:36and that southerly airflow will increasingly import warmer conditions through Thursday

01:41and into Friday with some places seeing temperatures into the high teens by the end of the week.

01:46Meanwhile, low pressure towards the southwest will eventually mark a change in the weather

01:50heading into the weekend with more unsettled conditions arriving. First signs of that

01:54actually in the far southwest on Wednesday, a bit more cloud, one or two showers drifting

01:58nearby. But otherwise, Wednesday is a widely sunny day and you can see those temperatures

02:02responding nicely up to the mid-teens by this stage and even warmer weather expected on
