Hi there. Just like March is said to do according to weather law, this forecast period is expected
00:07
to go in like a lion and go out like a lamb. And certainly it is an unsettled start to
00:13
the period with a band of rain crossing the country from the north-west to the south-east.
00:17
Some heavy bursts associated with this rain as it clears the southern half of the UK overnight.
00:23
But clearer skies are following behind and the winds, although blustery, could ease in
00:29
a few spots to give a touch of frost into the north-east of Scotland. And just ahead
00:34
of the front, actually, it will be chilly in the far south-east, 2-4C by dawn ahead
00:39
of the approaching cloud. So it will be a dry start to the far south-east but it doesn't
00:44
last long. The weather front is moving through and it's going to clear the Midlands and the
00:49
south-west by 7 or 8am. But it won't be until lunchtime that it clears parts of East Anglia
00:55
and south-east England. Brighter skies do follow for all of us by the afternoon, though,
00:59
albeit with those gusty winds and frequent showers. The showers most frequent across
01:04
north-western parts of the UK, particularly western Scotland, merging to give longer spells
01:07
of rain. And mixed in with thunder, hail, hill snow as well. It's going to feel cold
01:13
in that wind coming from the north-west. Certainly drop in temperatures in the south even as
01:18
the sun does return into the afternoon, 12-14C expected. But notably fresh across the north-west,
01:25
8-9C and feeling even colder given the strength of the wind. But in between the showers, as
01:31
I mentioned, there will be some bright spells and certainly across southern areas the showers
01:35
peter out into the evening on Friday. Clear skies then developing extensively as we start
01:41
the weekend, although still some showers remaining across central and north-western parts of
01:46
Scotland and the cloud thickens by the end of the night into Northern Ireland. But where
01:50
we do have those long-lasting clear spells, temperatures will fall away. Low single figures
01:54
in places. A touch of frost to wake up to on Saturday. A chilly start for most of us,
01:59
but a bright start. Beautiful weather around first thing Saturday. Temperatures responding
02:03
well as a result and we keep those sunny spells going across central and eastern parts of
02:08
England into the afternoon. But further north-west, another front moves through. That's going
02:13
to bring some persistent rain. Mostly light to moderate for western parts of England and
02:16
Wales turning up around the middle of the afternoon for many. Heavier for Scotland and
02:21
Northern Ireland, but it does push through, followed by further showers and again, gusty
02:26
winds. So that's going to make it feel cool once more across north-west Scotland, 8-10
02:31
Celsius. Further south-east where we do get some sunshine and lighter winds, not so bad,
02:36
14, perhaps 15 Celsius if we do get enough sunny spells. But as I say, it's going to
02:42
turn cloudier with some more rain moving through across western parts as we end Saturday. That
02:48
then clears as a weakening front because higher pressures building in from the south
02:53
as we go into Sunday. Much more widespread sunny skies then developing and Monday, the
02:58
last day of March, going out like a lamb with that high pressure bringing plenty of settled
03:03
weather and long spells of sunshine. As always, we'll keep you updated right here on our YouTube
03:07
channel. Make sure you subscribe so you never miss an update. Bye-bye.
