00:00There's a new study. 82% of parents think that it's important for their child to learn an
00:06instrument. I would agree with that. We tried to get Dean to play the keyboard. Of course,
00:10the recorder was not number one, right? Like everyone hates the recorder.
00:14The worst instrument we're all forced to play in school.
00:18But I do have the top five instruments that parents want their kids to learn.
00:23All right. All right. Piano is number one. The drums, which surprised me.
00:30Yeah, that's a bad one. Because if I can think of any two instruments that I don't want my children
00:35to play, the drum is definitely number one, because that's all you're going to hear all day is just
00:39beating. Mike, come down, it's dinner. I guess it's hard to be bad on the drums, though. I don't know.
00:48Yeah, and every song sounds the same. Like, what are you playing?
00:53Right. A different song. The other instrument that I think would be just
00:57terrible for a child to be learning, and I say this because my mom played this instrument and
01:03she was always bad at it, is the violin. My poor grandmother was like, she was so bad. You have
01:09no idea. I would make her go outside, like to the corner of the yard when it was time for her to
01:14practice. Electric guitar, number four. And number five is the acoustic guitar.
01:18And that's where producer Nicole comes into play. Hello, producer Nicole.
01:22Hello. You got your acoustic guitar here?
01:25I do. $20 from Amazon. When was the last time you played it?
01:29Oh, last time I played it. Probably quarantine.
01:32Oh, wow. You've been off of it. You can get a guitar for $20?
01:36Oh, yeah. I mean, it's just like a starter. I mean, it's not nice or anything.
01:41It's an actual Amazon brand guitar. It's so dusty. It looks like you haven't picked it
01:46up since before the pandemic. It's one of those kid ones where if you hit the button,
01:50it plays for you? I stopped playing it. So I was like, you know what? I'm just going to use it as
01:56decor. So it hung up beside my TV for a long time as decor. Well, that's what I thought of when she
02:01said it was $20. I was like, oh, that's probably a cool addition to my house. Maybe I'll get one.
02:04You know what? I think I remember for my, I don't know how old I was. I think I was in the fourth or
02:11fifth grade. I do remember getting an acoustic guitar for my birthday. Um, and I, I did take
02:18lessons. I did take guitar lessons. Oh, nice. So maybe you'll dive back into your brain and find
02:23something to play here. Is it like riding a bike? Um, yes, but there's a, there's a point in it where
02:29you learn certain chords and it gets so hard and frustrating. And like, I've always heard once you
02:36get over that hump, then it becomes fun because it opens up your playbook of things you can play.
02:41But I just haven't been able in 20 years to make it over that hump. What are you playing for us
02:45this morning? And are you going to read music? Are you just going to play off memory? Um, I'm
02:50going to read it. You're going to read music. Yeah. Awesome. Yeah. Let's see what you got. Come
02:53on, Nicole. Okay. Okay. Okay. Everybody quiet, please. Are you going to sing too? No. Yeah. I can't.
03:00What song is it? I think she's doing wagon wheel, right? Okay. Yeah. And let me preface this by saying,
03:06I don't know. I am not good. I know. We're just asking you to perform today. Listen,
03:10Maney's not going to know this song either way. It's a country song. So you're okay. It's going to be
03:14great. Oh, wait.
03:36Do I have to keep going? I mean, a little more. Like, get into it. Well, that's all
03:44I know. Oh. Okay. So wait. Good job, Nicole. Great job, Nicole. Well, there's like a strumming
03:51pattern, and that's what I'm not sure of. And so, like, he can probably do it like.
03:56There you go. Nicole, that's so much better. What were you doing? You're better without
04:05reading the music. I don't know. Wow. It's hard. My fingers hurt. As if the people didn't
04:09love you more, now they know you play the guitar. Uh-huh.
04:11You're okay.
04:31You're okay.
