00:00Hey, what's up, y'all? It is Nikki Vaughn with my good friend Sarah from Friends for Animals of Metro Detroit, and it is cuteness overload in here, not just from me and Sarah, but we have a very special guest, a fur baby here with us. Who's this?
00:14This is Hannah. She is 12 weeks old. She's a very good girl. She likes her little girl. She actually came to us. She has more of an interesting story than some of our normal animals. She is actually from Louisiana.
00:28Oh, wow. So she's a Southern girl. And MHS, Michigan Humane Society, actually reached out to us for some help with some puppies they were transferring from a shelter in Louisiana that needed some help getting some of their dogs out and to other homes where they could get more exposure.
00:46So MHS actually set up the transport last week, and we took 10 puppies. We had her and four of her siblings. There are four girls left, her and four other girls. And then we actually took five other boys that are, I believe those have all been home.
01:04Okay. I've gone home already. They were available last week because they got neutered, and then the girls are all waiting on their appointments to get spayed, so they will be available today.
01:16Okay. And, I mean, she has a beautiful coat. It is so soft. What type of dog is Hannah?
01:22So what their best guess was is she's a hound-cur mix. And from what I understand, a cur is like a dog you see more in the South.
01:30Yeah.
01:31So we're guessing probably a hound mix, maybe 40 to 50 pounds. We really have no idea. It depends on what mixes are what and what part. But she's really cute.
01:41So she's 12 weeks now, and I think she's like 16 pounds. And she'll get about 50, 50 pounds.
01:49That's what we're guessing. Yeah. I mean, she could be less. She could be more.
01:52Yeah. She has the cutest little mohawk. Do you see that?
01:56Yeah, she's got a little mohawk. And then our little white pot.
01:58I love that. She's having fun with that toy.
02:01Yeah.
02:01What type of home would be a good fit for Hannah?
02:04So the big thing is a home that's ready for a puppy. She will, I know, she'll do the puppy teething. You know, they chew. She'll need house training. She'll need to learn her basic manners, most likely.
02:18So just a house that's ready for a puppy, ready to train, ready to spend time with them and help them learn, you know, how to be a big dog and how to be a good dog.
02:27But anyone that, anyone that's ready for that, willing to work with her.
02:33We also always suggest if you're getting a puppy for little kids, you know, make sure that you're willing to work with your kids and your kids, you know, you can't eat my phone.
02:41Uh-oh.
02:42And kids are, kids know how to act around animals and just go over everything with them that, you know, you have to be careful.
02:48Mm-hmm. Yeah, because she is a puppy.
02:50Right.
02:50So we have to remember that.
02:51Now, with the coronavirus outbreak, is there something, like, we should watch with our pets in terms of?
02:59From what, I think it's just from what we've seen, it's just basic.
03:04Keep an eye on them for normal things.
03:06I mean, you want to watch to see if they have an upper respiratory infection, which they can get.
03:09A lot of animals, actually, when they're first home from the shelter, end up with some sort of upper respiratory, you know, runny nose kind of coffee.
03:17And it's just, a lot of it's the stress from going to a home and being in the shelter.
03:23And that's part of the advantage of if you adopt from us, you get 30 days of free pet insurance.
03:29Oh, nice.
03:30That you can activate if something like that were to happen.
03:33And we also partner with DCA, and they give a first, I believe it's $250, you get a first credit.
03:38And that's not for, it's for anything, you know, if they're sneezing, you can go get them checked out.
03:43It's not for, like, the routine, but it's, they're sneezing if they have a cold, if they have an upset stomach.
03:49So you can use that just for peace of mind.
03:52That's good to know.
03:53Some good information there.
03:54So, Hannah is ready to go to a great home.
03:58She's ready to explore.
03:59Yes, she is.
04:00And then her adoption fee is $2.75.
04:03Okay.
04:04And then that would be for her and all of her siblings as well, if you don't find Hannah but want to take one of our other little girls home.
04:13And then we are also probably, I believe, we are planning on transferring some more puppies that should actually be coming in today.
04:21So, obviously, those will take a while to, we'll go through them vet-wise and they'll get spayed and neutered.
04:26But they will also probably be available in the coming weeks so you can keep an eye out for those.
04:31All right.
04:32Sounds great.
04:33So if you want to visit Sarah, Hannah, and all of her sisters and see all the animals that are up for adoption, you can visit them where?
04:40Friends for Animals of Metro Detroit or in Dearborn behind the police station.
04:45And then our website is metrodetroitanimals.org.
