00:00Hey, what's up, y'all? It's Nikki Vaughn. And yeah, you guessed it. It is another Doggy

00:13Dog Thursdays with my good friend Sarah from Friends for Animals of Metro Detroit. How are

00:18you, Sarah? Doing well. How are you? I'm wonderful. Who's our fur baby friend today? So today

00:24we have Kordo. He is about eight, eight and a half. We're not quite sure because he came

00:29to us as a stray. And he is a chocolate lab. He's very sweet, but he is overweight. So

00:37he is on a little bit of a diet and he just needs some help getting some of the pounds

00:43off so he can feel better and be a little healthier. I feel your pain, Kordo. I'm on a diet. It's

00:48not fun. So what type of food should you give Kordo to help him lose some weight? I'm not

00:54exactly sure what brand he's on, but he is on a special food and it's more keeping the

01:01portions down. So I mean, we want to make sure obviously that he's getting enough food and

01:06he's not hungry, but that we're not overfeeding. His treats are really restricted. So just to

01:13help him, a big thing will be exercise. Just taking him out, taking him for a walk every

01:16day. And he seems very active. Yeah, he's doing a lot better than when we first got

01:21him. Now that he has lost a little weight, he's feeling much better. You can tell and

01:26just got to keep up on the streak. Oh, he'll get there. Yeah, he's getting there. But no,

01:32he he's actually been in a foster home. They've been helping him lose the weight. He's been

01:36they've taken him a bunch of places. He's been to fairs. He's been to pet stores. I think

01:40he's been to Home Depot because they do let you bring dogs. So just anywhere. I mean,

01:44just taking him out and taking him for a walk. Just so is he at the foster home and

01:48not at the shelter? He is at the shelter currently. I don't know. I think the

01:52fosters might have been gone for a week or two. But he's he's great. I mean, he's

01:57he's very sweet. He's kind of goofy. He's very snuggly. But he is I mean, he does like

02:02going out and going for walks. You also just have to as he sneezes. You also just have to

02:06make sure he's not, you know, overdoing it. Like don't expect him to run a 5k with

02:12you. Yeah. What kind of home are we looking for?

02:17We're pretty much we think we do good in pretty much anything. He's been in playgroups with

02:21other dogs and he does like them. He seems to get along. But obviously, if you have a

02:25dog, we'd want to do a dog meet. But I mean, any home that'll basically the big thing is

02:30work on losing the weight with him and make it very healthy. Yeah. And he's also he's got

02:36a couple of fatty tumors. The vet did check them out. They just came back as fat. So

02:42he he's good. He's loving over there with all of his attention. But yeah, he's a good

02:50boy. Yes, he is. So is there any aftercare provided once he leaves this shelter with you

02:56guys? Yeah. We actually would like them to check in and give us some updates on his weight.

03:02We could weigh him. Just make sure, you know, he's on the right path. He's and they're always

03:06welcome to check in with us, check in with the vets we work with and just make sure he's

03:10healthy and on his way to being his best self. Awesome. And congratulations. I have to say

03:16to you through an awesome event on last Friday and you raised a lot of money. Yeah. Our annual

03:23black tie and tails event. It's our gala was last Friday at the Dearborn Inn and it was great.

03:29The night went really well and we don't have a final number yet, but we're looking at about

03:33145, hopefully a little upwards of that. Okay. Now, if someone was interested and maybe given

03:40a donation that wasn't able to attend, is there a place to do that at? Yes. They can do that on

03:44our website, which is MetroDetroitAnimals.org. We actually have a donate button. They can do it

03:49through there or they can always give us a call at 313-943-2697 and we can take a credit card

03:56over the phone or, you know, explain how they can mail a check. And we always, always accept

04:00donations. Awesome. And I am so happy to say so far we've gotten all our fur babies adopted. Yes. Yes.

04:07So we want to make sure. We're on a good streak. Yes, we are. So Cordo, you are next. We're going to
