Panic at the Gas Station

00:00A couple of bad drivers making headlines in Massachusetts this morning, and I can't even

00:08fire up the symphony of destruction because this dude who's only 57 lost control of his

00:14vehicle at a gas station in Brockton, Mass., and set the place on fire.

00:19Oh, man.

00:21Fire erupted at a gas station overnight in Brockton after a car crashed into a gas pump.

00:25Video footage posted by the Brockton Fire Department shows the driver of the car appear

00:28to back up and crash into the pump at Prime Gas on North Montello Street just before midnight.

00:35The driver then pulls forward out of view of the camera.

00:38A police spokesman said the driver of the 2005 Subaru Impreza pulled into the gas station

00:43and attempted to back up to get closer to the pump, but the 57-year-old driver said he lost

00:48control and just hit the pump by mistake.

00:51So he gasped pedal instead of the brake.

00:55Yeah.

00:56Oh, he ran right out.

00:57He's lucky that hole.

00:59Ran over the whole pump.

01:01The whole pump is destroyed.

01:03His car is like, the back of it is engulfed in flames at that point.

01:07So he pulled across the parking lot from the station and called 911 from there.

01:11No one was injured.

01:13As of early this morning, the gas station was still closed.

01:16Hey, James, when you worked at the gas station, did anyone ram a pump?

01:20A couple times, but nothing to where it caught on fire.

01:23I pooped my pants.

01:25That was the case.

01:27You can see me abandon the gas station.

01:29There's a nuclear bomb going off.

01:32I just picture somebody walking.

01:33They'd be like, oh, my God, the pump's on fire.

01:35You just see me go, ah, we're on fire line.

01:39We're all going to die.

01:41It's doomsday.

01:42Call 911.

01:43I mean, there's giant gas tanks underground.

01:46I would have hopped in my car and just drove and kept driving.

01:50So I'm sure that's not the training you received when you started at the gas station on how to react when the pump's on fire.

01:56No, I think the first step in that situation, they tell you to stay calm.

02:00And I would have been like, oh, my God.

02:03Oh, my God.

02:04Oh, we're going to burn alive.

02:07Aren't you supposed to go and hit the gas suppression button and all the stuff supposed to come down?

02:12Yeah, you probably are supposed to do that, but that's probably not how I would have been.

02:15Yeah, exactly.

02:18Because, like, the big, like, sea of light foam is supposed to cover the hole, right?

02:22But no one did that here.
