Hello there. Plenty of sunny spells for much of the UK through Saturday afternoon, but
00:05
it's all change as wet and windy weather moves in for the second half of the weekend. A brief
00:10
ridge of high pressure at the moment, however, this deep area of low pressure sweeps in across
00:14
the north-west of the UK, bringing outbreaks of heavy rain to many parts through Sunday
00:19
and into Monday. Some very strong winds as well. Met obvious warnings for the wind and
00:23
rain across many northern and western parts of the UK through Sunday. But Saturday afternoon,
00:28
plenty of sunny spells. Cloudy morning across south-eastern parts of England, the rain here
00:33
clearing and allowing the skies to brighten. But for many, it will be dry, sunny spells.
00:37
A scattering of showers could develop as we move through into the afternoon, showers most
00:41
frequent across parts of Northern Ireland, but especially for central and north-western
00:45
parts of Scotland, where it will still remain quite blustery, but for most, winds much lighter
00:50
compared to Friday. Temperatures down a little, we've reached the dizzy heights of 17 Celsius
00:55
across the UK yesterday, more likely 10 to 14 Celsius for Saturday afternoon, but this
01:02
is still above average for the time of year, generally 7 to 9 Celsius is what we should
01:06
be seeing for this point in February. A chilly evening to come for many as skies clear. We
01:11
could see some low cloud, mist and fog patches forming for a time, and a touch of frost perhaps
01:16
across some sheltered northern and eastern areas. However, overnight, the cloud starts
01:20
to move in, the rain arrives across Northern Ireland, the western parts of Scotland, which
01:25
could be heavy at times too, and the winds start to pick up. We'll see gales developing,
01:29
gusts of 45 miles an hour or so by the end of the night. Still some clear skies holding
01:34
on to some eastern parts, dry here. Temperatures around 4 or 5 Celsius to start Sunday morning,
01:39
7, 8, 9 Celsius in the west, but a wet start to the day across Northern Ireland, western
01:44
Scotland, and this rain just slowly pushing north and eastwards across this part of the
01:49
world through the morning. Some heavy outbreaks of rain possible, winds starting to pick up,
01:54
60, 70 miles an hour in exposed locations. The rain then sweeping across parts of Northern
01:59
England, Wales, the Midlands into southwest England. Bright colours there indicating some
02:03
particularly heavy rain, especially across southern and central parts of Wales. Southeast
02:08
England though, a dry morning, some bright or sunny spells, but the cloud increasing
02:13
as we move through into the afternoon here. Everyone, a windy afternoon to come, gusts
02:17
of 45, 50 miles an hour quite widely, 60 to 70 exposed coasts in the north and the west.
02:23
So there could be some tricky travelling conditions if you are planning on travelling
02:27
through Sunday itself, so worth keeping up to date with the Met Office warnings as there
02:31
are wind warnings across many northern and western parts of the UK as well as some rain
02:35
warnings as well. Temperatures, very similar, reaching double figures for many, generally
02:40
between 9 and 12 Celsius, locally 13 perhaps across some southern counties. So a wet afternoon,
02:48
evening to come across England and Wales as this band of rain continues to slowly push
02:52
its way south and east with some localised flooding possible, particularly across southern
02:56
parts of Wales, but almost anywhere in the north and the west could see some local disruption.
03:02
Showers following for Northern Ireland, Northern England, Scotland, Blustery here and some
03:06
of the showers on the heavy side and the rain eventually reaching southeastern parts as
03:10
well. Stays unsettled into next week, Blustery showers through Monday and Tuesday. For more
